Jiro Tamura is an ideal protagonist. He loves his family, is hardworking, and keeps his Japanese culture alive for his children.
After his mother's death, he dutifully cares for his brother, Sam, who suffers from a traumatic brain injury. He even helps embattled athletes sound and appear politically correct.
Accused Season 1, Episode 11 made you love Jiro Tamura. He is a definitively sympathetic character.
There were moments when his paranoia did take desperate turns, but it was all forgivable, if a little illegal.
Ian Anthony Dale's performance was moving. Jiro's survivor remorse headlined this episode.
He felt guilty for surviving the accident that diminished his brother's mental capacity, which showed in every scene.
One can only imagine the guilt of living such a perfect life while your mother and brother are relegated to caregiver and patient.
Jiro: You know, once I left for college, I never looked back. I left...

Described as “a collection of 15 intense, topical and exquisitely human stories of crime and punishment,” “Accused” will be comprised of individual episodes that are each their own “fast-paced provocative thriller, exploring a different crime, in a different city, with an entirely original cast.”
Martindale (“The Americans”) and Parker (“House of Cards”) have been cast in an episode centered on conspiracy theories, while Bilson (“The O.C.”) and Davenport (“The Morning Show”) are starring in an installment about “a family caught in a troubling situation,” with Reid Miller and August Maturo also joining that cast.
Additionally, Fox has tapped Tazbah Rose Chavez (“Reservation Dogs”) as writer and director of an episode about Native American activists protesting a uranium mine that’s been polluting tribal lands for decades.

Welcome back to the Weekend Warrior, your weekly look at the new movies hitting theaters this weekend, as well as other cool events and things to check out.
This Past Weekend:
As per my Thursday update, M. Night Shyamalan’s thriller Split ended up winning the weekend but with way more than anyone, including myself, predicted, with more than $40 million for its opening weekend. That’s pretty impressive, and his first movie to open at that level since 2010’s The Last Airbender. Meanwhile, Vin Diesel’s sequel xXx: The Return of Xander Cage ended up making around where I predicted, taking second place with $20.1 million, not a great sign for the continuation of that franchise. Michael Keaton’s The Founder ended up right around where I predicted with $3.4 million, ending up just outside the Top 10. Hidden Figures, La La Land and Sing continued to do well with minimal drop-offs.

The producer of Dear White People (pictured) and In The Cut delivered words of encouragement in her keynote address at the Film Independent Forum in Los Angeles at the weekend.
“I thought there was something wrong with me and I was having such a hard time making it,” said Brown on Sunday as she reflected on early efforts to break into the business. “I thought, ‘Am I a fraud?’ And then the big one – ‘Do I deserve this?’ That mental mind-fuck is exhausting. It kept me ‘apart from’, instead of ‘a part of.’”
Earlier in her address, Brown told attendees at the DGA Theater, “You have a story to tell that’s worthy. You have experience to share. You have a valid point of view and you should know this.”

Sundance programmers have unveiled what is a jaw-dropping, savoury Premieres line-up. With names such as Asif Kapadia (Ali & Nino), Kelly Reichardt (Certain Women), Joshua Marston (Complete Unknown), Ira Sachs (Little Men), Whit Stillman (Love & Friendship), Kenneth Lonergan (Manchester by the Sea), Todd Solondz (Wiener-Dog) and James Schamus’ directorial debut (Indignation), the 2016 edition could be considered a “gold” level edition that in the decade plus years we’ve been covering the fest easily rivals what we might find in the Main Comp in Cannes later that year. In addition to titan auteurs names mentioned above, the fest also have faves in Anne Fontaine, Taika Waititi, John Carney and Diego Luna on tap plus will showcase work from Matthew Ross (directorial debut – Frank & Lola) and Matt Ross (sophomore film – Captain Fantastic). Comic-Con International has released the full schedule for Sunday July 24th for San Diego Comic-Con 2011. This is the final day of the convention. Sunday is known as Kids day and is usually the slowest of all the days, there are a few surprises though. In all my years of going to Comic-Con I've never been to a panel in Hal H. Usually nothing is happening in Hall H on Sunday, this year there are a few TV programs going on in Hall H such a as Glee, Supernatural, Doctor Who, The Cleveland Show, Sons of Anarchy, It's Always Sunny in Philadelphia, and this year Buffy the Musical will be in the great Hall as well. I've never been to the Buffy Musical event, and I think I finally want to go this year. A couple of other things worth noting are a one on one panel with Nathan Fillion, and Max Brooks talks about zombies.
