Following on the success of The Wild Storm, DC is bringing back WildCATs.
Warren Ellis and Jon Davis Hunt’s The Wild Storm has been one of the best comics of the last couple of years. It is at the same time a reboot of a much loved comic universe that uses its spreading tendrils as a line to plant it firmly within the broader DC multiverse And a deconstruction of both the form and substance of an entire era of comics. But it’s also coming to an end, a planned 24-issue series that was only intended to weave the threads of a broader world for others to pick up.
DC announced the next thread to be picked up, and it is very exciting: Ellis and Ramon Villalobos relaunch WildCATs this August.
“The first line I wrote down for WildCATs was: ‘Saving the human race from the human race,...

Purely Physical
The first film on this Chris Warfield (Up Yours, Teenage Seductress) double feature is Purely Physical which follows the story of Kathy, played by Laura Lazare (Suzie Superstar, Love Letters). Kathy is studying journalism at college and applies for the job as a hotel receptionist so she can write about the human condition. Luckily for her, this is one seedy establishment with a whole host of deviants looking for a place to get down and dirty. It all starts off innocent enough with Jade Wong (Prisoner of Paradise, Oriental Madam) and Albert Bernard (in his only role) as a young couple wanting to make love for the first time. It gets a tad humorous when a travelling salesman with a passion for movie trivia played by Michael Morrison (Meatballs II, Taboo) takes a prostitute up to his room for some relaxing. As the scenes go on, it gets...

Stars: Becky Savage, Herschel Savage, John Colt, Rhonda Jo Petty, Gaylene Marie, Debbie Truelove, Tommy Drake, Jerry Davis, Rick Cassidy | Directed by Chris Warfield
After some rather wonderful library music over the opening sequences, we are introduced to Becky, a young and attractive coed played by Becky Savage (Sweets Cheeks, Foreplay) living in La. We find out that she is uninterested in her life, especially when it comes to her sex life. Although sexless, she sure does have an imagination as we find out when she makes love with Herschel Savage (Honeymoon Haven) who is playing as “Candle Light Lover” according to IMDb. After her rather prolonged (it will happen a lot in this one chaps) imaginary sex session, she wants something to change, so she does what every young girl like herself does… applies to be a prostitute at a Cathouse in Las Vegas!
Once uprooted, she’s put...

Rating: 6 out of 10
Take a dash of 007, "Kill Bill", and "Shaft", throw in some cool Latin disco, spice it up with some badass martial arts and gunplay, and ground it with an extremely appealing turn from its lead, and you get "Mandrill", Ernesto Diaz Espinoza's sorta-retro martial arts/hitman movie that joins the ever-growing list of sharply-designed revisionist B movies. This time around the riff is on the sort of James Bond knockoffs that every country tends to make a million of, and stars Marko Zaror, Chile's answer to The Rock.
The title character is a young hitman on the hunt for Don Mario (Luis Alarcon), the man who killed his mother when he was just a lad, and Mandrill's latest assignment conveniently requires him to kill said one-eyed killer, now a drug...
