Chicago Fire has a bit of a dilemma on its hands at the moment: two lieutenants qualified to lead Truck 81, but only one spot. Following Captain Matt Casey’s (Jesse Spencer) move, Deputy District Chief Wallace Boden (Eamonn Walker) was under the assumption that Lieutenant Stella Kidd (Miranda Rae Mayo), who thought she’d have to leave 51 with the promotion, would take over. But she was off busy with her “Girls on Fire” program, and floater Jason Pelham (Brett Dalton) became a permanent addition to the house. When she came back, she wasn’t leaping at the opportunity to take over as lieutenant, but she also was uncertain of Pelham. But she successfully led the charge in fighting his termination against a chief who had it out for him. And she was the one to deliver the good news: He was (still) in as Truck 81’s lieutenant. “You’re a part of 51, Pelham,...

[Warning: The below contains Major spoilers for Chicago Fire Season 10 Episode 10 “Back With a Bang.”] “Any other circumstance, this would be the greatest acquisition that 51 has had in a while,” co-showrunner Derek Haas said of Lieutenant Jason Pelham (Brett Dalton) before the winter break. But the problem is that Chicago Fire‘s Firehouse 51 already had someone for the empty spot on Truck 81 (following the exit of Jesse Spencer’s Captain Matt Casey): Stella Kidd (Miranda Rae Mayo), who thought she’d have to move houses after passing the lieutenant’s exam last season. But, as she shared with her fiancé, Lieutenant Kelly Severide (Taylor Kinney), in the winter premiere upon returning from her “Girls on Fire” trip, she held off on getting back to Deputy District Chief Wallace Boden (Eamonn Walker) about claiming the position because she “froze.” She wasn’t saying no to getting her own command, just “maybe not right this second.” She echoed that sentiment to Boden,...

[Warning: The below contains Major spoilers for Chicago Fire Season 10, Episode 9 “Winterfest.”] Oh, it’s going to be a long wait (until January 5) after the way the Chicago Fire winter finale ended. Stella Kidd (Miranda Rae Mayo) finally returned and was waiting for her fiancé Kelly Severide (Taylor Kinney) when he walked into their apartment in the last scene. But what comes after her “hi, Kelly” will have to wait. Meanwhile, Deputy District Chief Wallace Boden (Eamonn Walker), after not hearing from Kidd about the open lieutenant spot on Truck 81, offered the full-time position to floater Jason Pelham (Brett Dalton), and he accepted it. Uh-oh. Executive producer Derek Haas teases what’s next (hint: a lot of complications). Kidd’s back, but that definitely wasn’t a happy reunion. What can you say about the conversation she and Severide need to have? Derek Haas: They have a lot of communicating to do. Unfortunately, Severide’s not the best communicator, as ...

[Warning: The below contains Major spoilers for Chicago Fire Season 10 Episode 8 “What Happened at Whiskey Point?”] When Captain Matt Casey’s (Jesse Spencer) departure left command of Truck 81 open on Chicago Fire, the assumption was that Stella Kidd (Miranda Rae Mayo) would take over since she’d been waiting for an open spot at a house since passing the lieutenant’s test. But she’s off doing stuff for her “Girls on Fire” program. And now, her fiancé, Kelly Severide (Taylor Kinney), has finally gotten honest about how he feels. The first hint that Stella’s trip doesn’t yet have an end date was that the current lieutenant on Truck 81, Jason Pelham (Brett Dalton), told Severide he could be with them “maybe a long while” with “the lieutenant that Boden [Eamonn Walker] wanted … involved in some kind of side project.” And it was clear during “What Happened at Whiskey Point?” that she’s busy when Severide...

‘Chicago Fire’: Brett Dalton Boards NBC Series In Recurring Role Following Jesse Spencer’s Departure
NBC’s Chicago Fire has added Brett Dalton to the cast in a recurring role on the heels of Jesse Spencer’s departure from the series after 10 seasons, Deadline has confirmed. Dalton will portray interim Lt. Jason Pelham, who will make his debut on Wednesday night’s episode airing at 9 p.m.
Spencer’s character Matt Casey exited in the October 20 episode, the landmark 200th for the celebrated Dick Wolf series. Casey not only left Firehouse 51 but Chicago completely for Oregon, where he will care for Griffin and Ben Darden— sons of Firehouse 51 legend Andy Darden, who died in the series premiere—while their mother is in jail again with another DUI charge. His relationship with Sylvie Brett (Kara Killmer) will remain long distance for the time being.

If Stella Kidd (Miranda Rae Mayo) is looking to stay at 51 — she passed the lieutenant’s test and figured she’d be moving houses since there wasn’t a vacancy at hers — she may need to come back from her Girls on Fire trip to claim that spot on Truck 81 Asap! Brett Dalton (Agents of S.H.I.E.L.D.) will be recurring as Jason Pelham, the interim lieutenant filling Captain Matt Casey’s (Jesse Spencer) spot on Chicago Fire, TVLine reports. His first episode airs on November 3. Might Pelham be the “visiting acting lieutenant who is, let’s just say, surprisingly enthusiastic,” Joe Minoso (who plays Joe Cruz) teased at the beginning of the season? “That’s going to manifest itself in a really fascinating way, especially with Gallo [Alberto Rosende] and Mouch [Christian Stolte],” he added. “It’s a really great, great fun arc.” We’ll have to wait to see.
