Jane Sobo
- Casting Department
- Casting Director
Jane Sobo partners with sister Amy Sobo at Sobo Casting, who've worked with noteworthy commercial and film directors casting TV, Film, Commercial, Digital, Web Series, etc. Projects Sobo has cast have won Emmy's, Film Festival Awards, CLIO's and LIAA's.
Sobo Casting was started by Amy Sobo, whose personal style, abstract personality and unique brand of casting soon caught the eye of and was embraced by visionary directors Herb Ritts and Tony Scott--whom Amy as an individual, and later with sister Jane--cast groundbreaking projects for. From successful projects with these and other key clients, Sobo's work with other directors grew.
Jane and Amy's aesthetic evolved from their artist father whose Abstract Expressionist paintings eventually became modern and minimal, and their politically active mother who instilled in them a sense of social justice. But as an 11 year old attending "Love-Ins" or marching against the Vietnam war or police brutality and other contemporary issues, Jane became enamored with the colorful, creative appearances of counter-culture teens and adults who surrounded her. Regular family outings to then-new LACMA and La Cienega art gallery walks frequented by cognoscenti of the art world, informed the two sisters' cultural awareness, keen eye and personal style. Pursuit of arts, architecture, environmental space, world dance and music serves as constant pleasure and the backbone which often reflects in her castings.
Jane has a Bachelor of Arts in Design from UCLA and studied Art History at graduate level.
