Taika Waititi's upcoming Thor: Ragnarok debuts an entirely new version of the Hulk who speaks and interacts with other characters like never before, and it's awesome. This iteration of Hulk is a game-changer for the McU, and will have wide-ranging impacts on Phase 4, at least. Here at Lrm, we think more Hulk is always better... and it's time for Marvel to get on-board with this thinking!
Team-ups and crossovers have been a core staple of Marvel comics from the very beginning -- it's actually rare that a Marvel comic contains just a single hero these days (the films and TV series have embraced this premise big-time). However, there are several key Marvel characters who are ubiquitous across the comics, and comfortable appearing everywhere from street-level to cosmic to Astral to Quantum to Hell itself. Spider-Man, The Thing, and The Hulk are Marvel's true secret weapons; they're wildcards, they're unpredictable,...

In recent years, several documentaries have explored the mythical world of popular music in the 1960s, including Morgan Neville's Twenty Feet From Stardom (about backup singers) and Denny Tedesco's The Wrecking Crew (about session musicians). Now comes Bang: The Bert Berns Story, which is a bio-doc about Bert Berns, a composer and producer. All three films share a common desire to shine a celebratory spotlight on extremely talented people who have never fully received their due. Bang shares another thing in common with The Wrecking Crew: both were made by the offspring of the people who are profiled. Brett Berns, son of Bert Berns, codirected Bang with Bob Sarles, and that's reflected in the amazing array of interview subjects. Bang, narrated by musician...

The 36-year-old reality star took to Instagram on Thursday to reveal a brand new addition to her Kimoji collection: a candle of herself as the Virgin Mary.

While many of Kardashian West's kimojis exist soley on her messaging app, the "Kim candle" is available in real, tangible, candle form -- and will ship in one week for the price of $18.
Though the mother of two touted her candle on social media, some of her fans weren't so receptive to her new merchandise, calling the candle sacrilegious, distasteful, disrespectful of Christian culture and appropriating the veladoras of Latinx culture.

Oh chile! Another spicy episode of RuPaul’s Drag Race to digest. And it’s that time in season 9 when it’s getting a teensy bit hot in the kitchen and tempers are starting to flare. Basically, the gloves are coming off and the claws are coming out. Isn’t it delicious?

What does a French billionaire want with James Franco?
The sun sets over these last and barren weeks of madness we call March. What remains of snowfall turns into slosh as students blink slowly into sobriety. “Spring Break, Spring Break, Spring Break forever,” an icy voice chants. But good news: that creepy voice just might have its demands met. A mysterious streaming platform called Blackpills has, per Deadline, now committed to distributing a scripted micro-episodic series based on Harmony Korine’s 2012 hyper-stylized meditation of life, love and spring break that starred James Franco, Selena Gomez and Vanessa Hudgens.
The production company behind Spring Breakers, Fernando Sulichin and Chris Hanley’s Muse Productions (Buffalo ’66, Virgin Suicides), are more than thrilled. Hanley excitedly tells Deadline that the proposed micro-episode format is “the future of digital media.” Korine, on the other hand, has asserted his lack of interest in the project: busy, as he is, in...

Comic Books 101: Marvel Characters That Need To Be On Agents of S.H.I.E.L.D. !
I’ve said time and time again that despite its merits the biggest flaws in Marvel’s Agents of S.H.I.E.L.D TV show has been its lack of fully developing characters from the Marvel Comic Book Universe. The show (which spiraled out from The Avengers movie) is ripe to explore and showcase some of the best characters that might just not be ready or capable of making an impact on the big screen. While some characters have found a way to appear (Deathlock, Daisy Rumble Johnson, Absorbing Man, and recently Ghost Rider) a great majority of villains have either been created specifically for the show (and suddenly now appearing in the comics) or have just been throw away characters that have very little to zero ties in the Marvel Cinematic Universe or Comic Book Universe.

Jonathan Gross, the president of the Canadian distributor, announced the rebrand on Tuesday 23 years after launching the company.
The full–service distributor owns a catalogue of hundreds of film and TV titles and has ongoing distribution agreements with Magnolia, Film Movement, Kino Lorber and Synapse, among others.
Upcoming films and TV releases include Sundance and Hot Docs Selection Tickled, Tiff selection Sunset Song, Participant’s new investigative series Truth & Power, and Canadian theatrical releases No Men Beyond This Point, and First Round Down, now in post-production.
“This is mostly cosmetic because the word ‘Video’ has become somewhat quaint in these meme-orable times” said Gross. “Vsc was actually concocted in a hurry because we started the company on short notice by buying the contents of Video Entertainment Corp. in Kitchener.

If you want to see the new horror film, "Creep," about a videographer who answers an ad on Craigslist and soon finds the assignment is not what it seems, it's available only on Netflix. Writer-director Mark Duplass stars in the film, which is available to stream on July 14.

Wild Tales Because it's in a foreign language Wild Tales was never going to be a massive hit stateside, but trust me, this is a movie you're going to want to give a shot as six short stories come together for a wildly hysterical anthology of revenge gone wrong. Here's new promo art from The CW's Arrow. Take a long look at this costume as Stephen Amell has coyly hinted that the Starling City Arrow could be getting a tactical upgrade. Rapper/actor 50 Cent told MTV that he wants to be a Marvel supervillain. But one that the audience loves so much, they start to root for him a la Loki or the Joker from The Dark Knight. Perhaps 50 would make a good Thunderball from The Wrecking Crew? Another opportunity for 50 would be Marvel's Luke Cage Nextflix series. Here's a behind-the-scenes shot of director Bryan Singer working on commentary for the X-Men: Days of Future Past blu-ray/dvd - particularly, for deleted scenes. How about a director's cut Bryan?!

When the reigning king of Westeros steps down – or, more likely, is forcibly removed – it will also be the swan song for Jack Gleeson, the actor who plays King Joffery Baratheon on HBO's Game of Thrones. Gleeson told the Irish Independent that he plans to retire from acting when his turn on the show wraps up, saying he prefers a simple life over the glitz of Hollywood.

Ranking right up there alongside places like Sun Studios, Graceland and Hitsville, USA, as some of the music world's holiest and most legendary places, is Muscle Shoals. It might not be as well known as those others, but the studio played an important, influential and crucial part in shaping the American soul and rock 'n roll musical landscape, and now the story is getting a much deserved, big screen telling. Directed by Greg Camalier, "Muscle Shoals" zeroes on two key factors that made the studio the hitmaking machine it became: Rick Hall and The Swampers. The former was a producer extraordinaire, while the latter was the studio backing band that equally stood tall next to more famous folks like The Funk Brothers, Booker T. & The M.G.s, The Wrecking Crew, and Mfsb, providing the sound and flavor that powered hits by Aretha Franklin, The Staple Singers, Percy Sledge, Wilson Pickett,...

They had big voices, "as big as Aretha Franklin's," an admirer confesses. But they gave up their dreams, learned to "sacrifice individuality," to step into the background as Ike and Mick, Bette and Bruce, Paul Simon and Ray Charles and legions of others took the spotlight while these lesser lights swayed in time to the music and sang backup, a mere "Twenty Feet from Stardom."
Here's a documentary built on that signature line from Lou Reed's "Take a Walk on the Wild Side," that line written just for the backup singers.
"And the colored girls go '"Doo do doo do doo do do doo ..."
Filmmaker Morgan Neville ("Johnny Cash's America") rounds up a couple of generations of singers -- mostly, but not entirely black -- and gives them their moment in the sun in this revealing study of egos in check, contributions to music history largely unacknowledged.

Hasbro has announced that they are going to start a brand new line of Marvel Legends figures, a line that hasn't really had a presence for three or four years. Some of the figures include part of The Wrecking Crew, two Ghost Rider variants, Steve Rogers Cap, and The Day Walker Blade. No release date or further information on what each figure may include (besides the accessories Blade and Thunderball are pictured holding) was available from the press conference. Thanks to PaulRom for the heads up. _____________________________________________________________________________________________ Follow @Thorverine_CBM !function(d,s,id){var js,fjs=d.getElementsByTagName(s)[0];if(!d.getElementById(id)){js=d.createElement(s);js.id=id;js.src="//platform.twitter.com/widgets.js";fjs.parentNode.insertBefore(js,fjs);}}(document,"script","twitter-wjs");...

Immigrant Song Thor #615 (Marvel Comics, $3.99) By Devon Sanders I never thought I'd see the day where Thor would become a true franchise character. Once relegated to The Avenger's resident "strong guy," not much was ever truly expected of The God of Thunder. Sure; he had his moments. You could always count on his to do something god-like such as... umm... swinging his hammer in a circle, real fast, to smash giants or The Wrecking Crew or whoever sort of walk into it...

• Sarah Palin criticized NBC for not airing a statement she and her husband, Todd, provided to the network when it asked them to comment on a segment about the writer Joe McGinniss moving next door to the Palins in Alaska. Depending on your point of view, this was either an embarrassing slip-up (NBC will apologize and air the statement this morning) or “the most recent illustration of the untrustworthiness of America's mainstream media.” No points for guessing which view Palin holds. [CNN] • The man who could have been Alabama’s first black governor, Congressman Artur Davis, got crushed in the Democratic primary by Ron Sparks, the state’s agriculture commissioner. [NY Times] • A Brooklyn man on trial for stealing two Balenciaga purses from a movie set is going with the unorthodox “Yeah, but Kirsten Dunst smokes pot” defense, leading to any number of headlines riffing on the fact that Dunst once played a...

I had the pleasure of attending the premiere for Medium Raw last night and really enjoyed the flick. I’ll be honest, it has a few corny moments but it’s the villains in this piece that make it so worthwhile.

Cast: Jack Abramoff, Tom DeLay
Running Time: 2 hrs
Rating: R
Release Date: May 7, 2010
Plot: A documentary about lobbyist Jack Abramoff and the many scams he took part in while hobnobbing with the top members of Congress. From the director of Enron: The Smartest Guys in the Room.
Who’S It For?: This isn’t just for political junkies, but for anyone who’s interested in receiving a thorough education on a complicated but very real villain. Those who are politically inclined should be prepared to watch Tom DeLay and others get their names dragged through the mud, and then some.
Expectations: Going in, I knew little about this film, and not so much about Abramoff.
Scorecard (0-10)
