Mother’s Day is the latest Garry Marshall holiday vehicle that’s loaded with stars and intersecting characters/plots, and the film has finally released a poster.
This one has a gaggle of stars, just as you’d expect, and centers around two people, but their lives and families make for a wide branching out of the narrative.
We’re obviously centered on mothers and motherhood generally, and we’re going to get a mix of viewpoints. Jennifer Aniston and Jason Sudeikis are the hubs from which all things spin, and they give us the middle ground for the multi-generational look at how having, or being, a mother changes everything about the world… sort of.
The general idea may be getting a little overworked, but this one looks fun, and Valentine’s Day, while not great, was hard to hate and full of charm. Plus, the broad casts always mean...

The former boss of The Campaign Palace’s Melbourne office has taken the top job at branding and packaging design studio Cowan.
Tom Cooper, who was MD of The Palace for three years between 2007 and 2010, and before that Gm at Gpy&R Melbourne, becomes MD, Australia and New Zealand for Cowan Design, based in Melbourne.
His arrival comes after a period of upheaval for Cowan, which was hit by the exit of three senior executives last year - Chris Tremewen, who headed up the Sydney and Melbourne operation as group MD, executive creative director Matt Walker and financial controller Mark Albones.
Combined, they had spent 37 years at Cowan Design, before leaving to launch their own company, The Key Branding. The Melbourne-based studio has seen out a non-compete period, and has since picked up work for Carlton United Brewers, Heinz, Simplot and Coles.
Another recent departee from Cowan’s Melbourne office is general manager Sue McKenzie.

One thing’sfor sure, the manger has never rocked as hard as it does during the FalconTheatre’s holiday production of The FirstJo-el. Each year the TroubadoUr Theater Company presents a Christmas showwith a pop music twist on the stage in Burbank-adjacent Toluca Lake, California.Past musical extravaganzas have included JACKsonFROST, Little Drummer Bowie, Santa Clause is Comin’ to Motown and A Christmas Carol King. You get the joke.
But we’re happy to report that what might just sound like a forced cliché isactually very funny. This season’s production combining the story of the birthof Christ with the tunes of Billy Joel does not disappoint. As they are knownto do, the Troubies turned the biblical tale on its ear. Altering the lore ofthe birth of the baby Jesus to include three wise guys named Gold, Frankensteinand Myr. Not to mention throwing in another unwed pregnant girl,...

We knew we would enjoy A Wither's Tale at the Falcon Theatre in Toluca Lake, the second the pre-show announcements began. The first apologized for the incorrect use of the apostrophe in Wither's. The second encouraged audience members to please leave their cell phones on if they wanted to "make the performance all about you and stop the show cold." It just got better from there.
A Wither's Tale, a Troubador Theater Company production, combined William Shakespeare's A Winter's Tale with the music of Bill Withers. Of course, we all know the first Bill, but the second is one of those musicians that few people know by name. Still, mention some of his songs—"Lean on Me," "Ain't No Sunshine," and "Just the Two of Us"—and they are often favorites.
The bulk of the book was Shakespeare's original language to which the...
