Every October, we stab them with knives, killing their regular appearances and bringing them to new life with sharpened teeth, ghoulish gazes, and impossibly wide, sinister smiles. We make pumpkins into little monsters every year, but what if they came to life on their own... and wanted revenge for the years of jack-o'-lantern carvings, discarded guts, and baked seeds? Darin Beckstead's Proof of Concept for his planned feature film, Evil Nature, expertly explores this unnerving "what if?" with ample amounts of holiday humor and creature-centric horror. We've been provided with the fun and frightening Evil Nature Proof of Concept to share with Daily Dead readers, along with an exclusive Q&A with director Darin Beckstead.

Heads up, creature feature fans, because director Darin Beckstead is brewing up a little something special with Evil Nature. Enlisting the help of the practical FX wizards behind James Gunn's Slither with VFX work by Walt Jones - he's only got stuff like Life Of Pi on his resume - and a skeleton crew shooting for just one night, Beckstead has unleashed a stellar Halloween themed proof of concept for what he hopes will become a full blooded feature film. The image above should give you a good sense of what lies in wait, so click on through and check it out below....

Looks like Zack and Billy aren't on board with the new Power Rangers film. Walter Jones spoke to Comicbook at C2E2 and the former Black Ranger had issue with how his character was changed for the feature film...
“I was a little disappointed that they changed the characters around a little bit because I wanted Zack to be with his kido because Hip Hop Kido was a really important element of who I was on Power Rangers. I think if they would have added that then there could have been some parkour and there could have been so many other elements to that character that it would have been awesome.”
As for David Yost (Billy), the blue ranger has never been too high on the original Power Rangers due to his experience on set, but even he took issue with the new film...

Film franchise reboots are often difficult to make. This is due to the fact that point of views of directors and writers are different and also as time goes by what might have been politically correct or socially acceptable at one point may not be in our present day. About a month ago, one of our favorite group of teenage heroes the Mighty Morphin Power Rangers got a reboot on the big screen. Saban's Mighty Morphin Power Rangers, from Lionsgate, grossed $40.3 million in its opening weekend with some mixed reviews. But what did some of the former rangers think about the film?
Comicbook.com caught up with David Yost, who played Bill Cranston the Blue Ranger, and Walter Jones, who played Zach Taylor the Blue Ranger, at C2E2 in Chicago. They both took some time on stage during the convention to talk about some of the things that they...

Walter Jones (the Black Ranger) has confirmed that none of the original cast of the Power Rangers series will be appearing in the new film. i09 says the actor appeared on the Audibly Exquisite Podcast and said that none of the cast were asked to appear in the new movie, even in cameo form...
It’s not likely. Unfortunately, we were not invited to be part of the film, which is confusing to me, but I’m excited about the film nevertheless.
I can't say I'm surprised by the news. This film looks to be launching the franchise for a new generation, so to acknowledge the previous products would be a step backwards. Still, it does kind of suck that there won't be anything for the adults taking their kids to see this movie! Would you have liked to see the Rangers appear again on screen?...

A "Power Rangers" reunion? Don't hold your breath.
Earlier this week, David Yost -- a.k.a. the Blue Ranger -- refused an offer to appear on an episode of "Power Rangers Megaforce," claiming he was treated poorly by the producers of the show.
The openly gay actor, who appeared on the show from 1993-1996, said he experienced homophobic abuse while on "Power Rangers" and is "done with abusive relationships," according to TMZ.
“I walked off set one day during the middle of lunch .... I just had made a decision,” Yost told the fan site No Pink Spandex in 2010 of his exit from the series. “The reason I walked off was is because I was called f***** one too many times ... from creators, producers, writers, directors ... I know that my co-stars were called in a couple times to different producers' offices and questioned about my sexuality, which is kind of...

One of my highlights so far this year at Comic-Con was learning how to be a Power Ranger from some of the dudes behind the mask, including Walter Jones, the original black Ranger, and Alex Heartman, the new Red Ranger.
During a visit to their booth on the convention floor, I got to put on my very own Red Ranger outfit and try out a few moves and battle cries. Take that, everybody who always said my personality was “totally Blue Ranger”! Watch the video below, which includes an exciting showdown with the villainous Green Ranger.

"Mighty Morphin Power Rangers" star Jason David Frank is now 35 years old and is training to become a full-time Ufc fighter. The sixth-degree black belt in karate was inducted into the World Karate Union Hall of Fame in 2003 after developing his own style of fighting called Tose Kune Do. He says, "I want to prove that I'm a real fighter. I'm not looking for any titles specifically. Ultimately, I want to give my fans something to watch and be proud of." Frank's decision to become part of the Ufc organization is a positive boost for the "Power Rangers" franchise after two recent negatives. Walter Jones, who played the original Black Power Ranger, recently pleaded not guilty to drinking and driving in Alabama in July 2009 and one-time Power Ranger actor Skylar Deleon, was handed the death penalty after he was convicted in April of murdering an Arizona couple and a California man.
