Robbie Williams has explained why he “messed up” the chance to romance Kylie Minogue.
The singer duetted with Minogue for the single “Kids”, which appeared on his 2000 album Sing When You’re Winning.
Williams has now revealed that, during their time working together, he fancied the Australian star.
During a new programme for BBC Sounds, titled Robbie Williams: My Life Thru a Lens, the former Take That band member was asked by Scott Mills: “You and Kylie – what was going on there?”
Williams, who has been married to Ayda Field since 2010, replied: “Not as much as I wanted it to be, unfortunately. Messed that up.”
The singer said he did this “just by 13 whenever I was around her”.
He added: “Like it’s the girl in the year above me, ‘I don’t know how to speak to you.’ My crush of all crushes.”
He previously said he has “the longest crush” on Minogue,...

Queen guitarist Brian May was among artists, designers, community leaders and members of England’s women’s soccer team on the U.K.’s New Year’s Honors list.
More than 1,100 people were included on the list announced Friday, which was the first to be signed off by King Charles III, the Associated Press reported. The list is an annual tradition in the country, celebrating people’s achievements and service.
May received a knighthood for services to music and his charity work. In response to the recognition, the former Queen guitarist, who also holds a doctorate in astrophysics, said, “I will regard the knighthood not so much as a reward, but more as a charge — a commission — for me to continue to fight for justice — to be a voice for those who have no voice. I will endeavour to be worthy — to be that Knight in Shining Armour.

Netflix was one of the key sponsors of UK magazine The Spectator‘s summer party last week.
The well-timed and buzzy London event — which came amid the stormy unseating of Boris Johnson as Pm — was attended by a number of leading figures in the UK political and media landscape.
Netflix co-ceo Ted Sarandos was at the event, which formed part of a UK charm offensive. That offensive included an event at BAFTA to celebrate the charity’s Bafta Breakthrough program, also sponsored by the streamer. The studio is celebrating 10 years in the UK.
Among politicians to have attended The Spectator‘s bash were former Chancellor Rishi Sunak, the frontrunner to replace Johnson as UK leader, current Chancellor and another Pm hopeful Nadhim Zahawi, former Cabinet minister Michael Gove, Tory MP Tom Tugendhat (yet another contender to be the next Pm) and former Health Secretary Matt Hancock.

A well-crafted study of a neglected artist who died after the plane he was flying disappeared during the second world war
“Exhilarating, enthralling and outstandingly beautiful. A revelation.” That was the verdict of Observer art critic Laura Cummings in 2015 on the first major exhibition of Eric Ravilious’ watercolours since he was killed in 1942 aged 39 while serving as a war artist. His work was almost forgotten until his children found a stash under a bed in the 1970s.
This well-crafted documentary makes a thorough and convincing case for Ravilious as a major figure in early 20th-century art. It’s a portrait of the artist as a tea-sipping cheerful sort of a chap with not an ounce of artistic torture in his body – which might go some way to explaining why he was ignored for so long. That and the fact that his gentle, comforting pastorals are so easy on the eye.

The rapid onslaught of the coronavirus pandemic caused several media events around the world to take rapid decisions to either cancel and postpone to 2021 or pivot to digital. The U.K., one of the worst hit countries in the world, was no different, and the venerable Edinburgh TV Festival, now in its 45th year, decided on the digital route.
“The question about staging a long-running event like ours moved quite quickly from ‘how can we’ to ‘how should we?’,” festival managing director Campbell Glennie tells Variety. “We are governed by The TV Foundation, an independent, not-for-profit charity, and very much designed for the industry in collaboration with it. When we decided to move to digital, we knew that serving our free-to-access schemes and audiences had to come first, and we’ve all had a challenging year. Being digital makes us more accessible and affordable, and we wanted to make sure...

There are no current plans to privatise Channel 4, according to the Conservative party.
Ofcom is due to publish its third review of public service broadcasting this summer and from there a decision will be made regarding the system as a whole.
Lady Neville-Rolfe, a junior minister in the Department for Culture, Media and Sport, said in the government's first announcement since winning full power: "There are currently no estimates of what impact the sale of Channel 4 might have on the deficit, or any plans for a sale."
She continued: "Any decision about a sale of Channel 4 would need to balance the broadcaster's public-service obligations against its potential commercial value."
There were reports last year that the Conservatives had drawn up plans to sell Channel 4 but the then business secretary, the Liberal Democrat's Vince Cable, blocked them.
The channel is thought to be valued at around £1bn.

Victoria Coren Mitchell is taking a closer look at the history of bohemians for BBC Four.
Three-part documentary series How To Be Bohemian with Victoria Coren Mitchell will journey from 19th century Paris to '60s Soho and focus on influential bohemian figures like Oscar Wilde.
Stephen Fry, Grayson Perry, Will Self, A A Gill, John Cooper Clarke, Rev. Richard Coles, Maggi Hambling, Molly Parkin and performance artist Jonny Woo will all appear in the series.
Coren Mitchell said: "Bohemians confuse me tremendously. I don't know whether to find them exciting and inspiring, or annoying and threatening. Possibly all four at once. From these mixed feelings, I know I must be a bourgeois.
"But I've never been fully immersed in Bohemian circles before. I'll be interested to find out whether I end up running into their open-minded embrace, or running screaming away."
BBC Four's channel editor Cassian Harrison added:...
