Lately it seems like we've been hearing about more and more incidents of movie theatre rage, which probably isn't a huge surprise to anyone who has been to a movie theatre lately. With all the potential annoyances and the general lack of respect among average moviegoers, the number of things that could set somebody off are progressively increasing. Last month in Kent, Washington, a 21-year-old man took matters into his own hands while he was watching a screening of James Cameron's Titanic in 3D with his girlfriend. A group of young kids behind them were being loud and throwing popcorn, and after refusing to stop, he hit one of the kids in the face with a closed fist. The punch knocked out a tooth and left the kid with a bloody nose. Did I mention that the kid was just 10 years old? Yong Hyun Kim, 21, has since been charged...

A man from Washington state was tired of a bunch of noisy kids while seeing "Titanic" i 3-D. Did he ask them to stop? Yes, but when they laughed at him, he punched a 10-year-old-boy in the face. Sure, he says he thought it was an adult, but does that excuse it?
"I got so mad that it just happened," Yong Hyun Kim, 21, told police who arrested him the night of April 11, according to Yahoo. The child had a bloody nose and lost a tooth from the punch.
"At one point Yong stepped over the seats and confronted the subjects behind him," the police report says. "Yong said he was talking to the subjects when they started laughing at him. Yong said he became so angry and swung his arm at one of the subjects and him in the face."
It's awful that the child was punched, but we've all had movie experiences like this.

While watching "Titanic 3D" at a Washington AMC theater, 21-year-old Yong Hyun Kim was fed up with a group of noisy moviegoers behind him. So he stepped over a seat and punched a 10-year-old boy in the face. The group of kids went into the lobby and called police, which arrested the man. Kim says that he went to see the movie with his girlfriend, but could not enjoy it since the group behind him was talking, throwing popcorn at him and running up and down the aisle. He first asked to them to quiet down, but they laughed at him. So Kim got up and punched the boy. "I got so mad that it just happened," he explained, adding that he thought the boy was an adult. The boy lost a tooth and got a bloody nose in the confrontation. Kim spent a night in jail and appeared in court.

We've been there: You're all settled in to watch your high-priced 3D movie at your local movie theater when someone near you is making noise. And they don't stop. You politely ask them to keep it down, and they refuse. From here the right thing to do would be to exit the theater, inform a manager and ask for a refund. However, one guy decided to take matters into his own hands when he slapped a rowdy 10-year-old in the face, knocking out one of his teeth. The confrontation went down back in April in Auburn, Washington, when a 21-year-old attacked a 10-year-old who refused to quiet down and stop throwing popcorn. Apparently this guy, Yong Hyun Kim, didn't know the kid was, well, a kid, telling officers he thought he was a grown man. Sure, it's not that...

Yong Hyun Kim, a 21-year-old Washington State resident, has been charged with felony assault after slapping a 10-year-old boy at a local movie theater.
According to the Seattle Post-Intelligencer, the incident occurred at an AMC Theater in King County back on April 11; Kim's slap caused the boy to lose a tooth.
Per the Associated Press, the boy and his friends were being rowdy during a showing of "Titanic 3-D" -- talking, throwing popcorn and even bumping into Kim as they ran through the aisle. After Kim told them to quiet down, they mocked him; Kim then hit the boy, unaware that he was only 10.
Later, in court, a police detective relayed that Kim thought the boy "was a grown man."
If convicted of second-degree felony assault, Kim could face up to a few months in jail.
This isn't the first time a movie theater has been the source of an incident between patrons.

Seattle — A Washington state man fed up with a group of noisy moviegoers behind him stepped over the seat and punched a 10-year-old boy in the face.
The man, who told police he thought the person he hit was a grown man, was watching "Titanic" in 3-D with his girlfriend and had asked the people sitting behind to quiet down and stop throwing popcorn, but they laughed at him, he said.

The 10-year-old lost a tooth and had a bloody nose in the confrontation.
Kim spent a night in the Kent city jail and appeared April 12 in King County District Court and was released, said county prosecutor's spokesman Dan Donohoe.

Although Experiments in Cinema is truly an international event, festival director Bryan Konefsky is placing a special emphasis on regional filmmaking and has invited other festival directors and film curators to showcase works from their particular region. Montse Badia will screen Spanish experimental video,...
