With their sights set on a £25,000 reward promoted by a local newspaper, American documentarians Georgia and Matt head to Exmoor in North Devon to film the fabled beast supposedly slinking through the remote terrain. Setting up a forest camp with an old acquaintance, the trio fix cameras to the trees and rocks, linked back to a computer nerve centre where nothing should go unnoticed. But then they discover some putrefying body parts all neatly tied up, and before long they realise they are in the lair of a beast right enough, but certainly...

Previously, on The Vampire Diaries
Elena dances, seemingly with wild abandon, atop a bar while Jeremy and her friends look on.
Atta girl!
She offers a toast, but psych! Before she can down it a look of consternation crosses her face. She jumps down and demands to know whether she’s really that easy to impersonate, wondering why no one questioned her dancing on a bar “half naked” and if they really believe she’d take her underage brother to a college bar for tequila shots. Well, yes, considering:
1) She was turned into a vampire only very recently;
2) Since turning she’s been under the influence of her Heightened Emotions, being sire-bonded, having her emotion chip pulled and Katherine; and
3) of all the times she’s witnessed Jeremy drinking underage she’s stopped him exactly twice, and
4) she’s a college freshman. Acting out in new and unusual ways is part of the job description.

The Vampire Diaries Episode 514
“No Exit”
Written By: Brian Young
Directed By: Michael Allowitz
Original Airdate: 27 February 2014
In This Episode…
Caroline brings Stefan police records from her mom. Looks like Damon has been slashing a Ripper path across the state. Stefan is determined to track his brother down, and “Elena” is determined to go with. You know, to “help.” Naturally, Katherine just wants to seduce Stefan.
Damon and Enzo have been hitting up farmhouses, turning the residents into vampires, then letting Damon feed. They figure that Damon can go about eight hours before he needs to feed again. When he is done with this particular feed, the boys try to head out, only to discover a mess of travelers, led by Wes, chanting to seal the vamps inside the house. This is another one of Wes’ sadistic tests: how long can Damon go before he has to feed on his one food source,...

"Sharknado" may represent the pinnacle of the nature-disaster movie genre. There are sharks. There are tornados. Both seem intent to rain death and destruction down upon '90s-era stars like Ian Ziering and Tara Reid.
Where can the Syfy Original Movie franchise go after this?
That's not the concern of this blog. Instead, this bit of important writing will focus on the minutiae of "Sharknado," chronicling one person's experience as this seminal film plays out. Please, follow along. There may never be another event like this.
Here begins the live blog
Even before the opening credits role, we get to see a tornado -- more accurately, a waterspout -- suck up sharks "20 miles off the coast of Mexico."
Somewhere nearby, Captain Santiago negotiates with a very serious Asian man while drinking tea or coffee or something. They might be talking about fish. Santiago wants a million. He gets it by flashing a gun.

It’s a tricky road to navigate: Keeping an audience interested throughout an intentionally mundane film that’s nothing except a flat measured pace to a dramatic conclusion. Slow builds are usually a nice thing, but too slow, especially when that’s 95% of your short movie, and a director risks losing the viewer’s interest. Plus, for those who put the time in waiting to see the conclusion, well, that ending had better be a good one.
Christopher Werner’s The Neighbors chronicles an average suburban dinner get together between two couples, Heather (Sandy Kim) & Patrick (Bernhard Forcher) and Amber (Taryn Matusik) & Matthew (Robert Grant). There’s nothing extraordinary about them, other than Heather and Patrick living in a spacious McMansion. The extended dialogue-free opening credits sequence shows each of them getting ready, putting on clothes, cooking the meal, etc.
It’s a long opening with not much happening. All...
