Sarah Hyland exits her hosting duties on Love Island USA after two seasons on Peacock.
“Well, just got a text,” Hyland shared on Instagram Stories, making reference to how the islanders communicate within the dating show. “I’m disappointed the news had to break this way but it is in fact true that I will not be returning to the island this summer.”
She continued, “I have committed to an exciting project that will be announced soon that conflicts directly with the shooting dates for Love Island USA.”
Hyland added that she was “sad I can’t return” and hoped “to see lots of love this summer on Peacock this upcoming season.”
Although Peacock hasn’t confirmed who will be replacing Hyland as host, TMZ reported that Vanderpump Rules star Ariana Madix is set to replace the Modern Family alum.

Peacock has renewed Love Island USA for two additional seasons.
The show — which the streamer says is its No. 1 original reality series — follows a group of singles searching for love in a villa, but throughout their stay in a tropical oasis, Islanders face challenges, surprises, “bombshells” and more twists and turns.
Following the finale of Love Island USA‘s season five, which aired this past summer, the show’s executive producer Simon Thomas told The Hollywood Reporter that the goal is for the Islanders and the audience to “feel like the best summer vacation of all time” with “a little bit of drama along the way.”
When asked what he’d learned from season five that he would possibly change for future seasons, Thomas said at the time, “I would imagine that there will be things next year that you will see, which will surprise you, much like there were this year,...

The official trailer for “Love Island Games” is finally here, and we can’t wait to see the cheeky challenges and deception stirred up by the Peacock spin-off series.
“For the first time ever, we’re bringing together an international all-star cast of ex-islanders ready for some healthy competition and a second chance at love,” host Maya Jama said in the trailer. “Things are gonna be very different this time around. The challenges will determine everything, and ultimately which couple gets $100,000.”
Bringing together U.S., U.K. and Australian islanders across the “Love Island” franchise to a Fiji villa, the new format mixes dating and games as ex-islanders pair up and compete to become the champions of the “Love Island Games.” With the sizable prize fund on the line, the contestants’ motives for coupling up for challenges might differ.

Part of the appeal of watching reality dating shows like “The Big D,” “Love Island USA,” and “Temptation Island” is the ability to watch gorgeous singles creating drama in exotic tropical locales like Costa Rica, Fiji, and Maui. Given that the contestants are essentially sequestered for weeks or months at a time yet seem to have an endless array of outfits, a question arises: Where are these clothes all coming from? Do the singles bring their own wardrobe? Is it provided? Do they need to coordinate with each other and the hosts, as well as make sure they’re not clashing with the set decoration?
The answer is all of the above, with slight variations from show to show. On USA’s “Temptation Island,” showrunner Trifari White works with the cast to select clothes from their own closets that will reflect who they are but also work for the style of the series.

CBS is returning to “Love Island” for a third season, this time in Hawaii. Casting is underway for a new edition, CBS Entertainment senior executive vice president of programming Thom Sherman confirmed on Wednesday.
Sherman made the announcement during the Eye network’s virtual Television Critics Association press tour.
“Love Island” has been a slow burn for CBS, debuting to tepid ratings in 2019 — but Eye execs saw potential in the series, which has been a wildly popular phenomenon in the U.K., were the format was born. The show was renewed for a second season, but had to adjust to a Las Vegas locale in 2020 due to the Covid-19 pandemic.
“Love Island” has indeed continued to see a ratings uptick for CBS, and by the end of Season 2 was attracting an audience of 2 million viewers.

CBS has handed dating reality series Love Island a second season.
The broadcaster is showing faith in the remake of the British entertainment format, which is hosted by Arielle Vandenberg.
The show, which has aired five nights a week in an 8pm slot since July 9, ends its opening run on August 7. Contestants will return to the Love Island villa, situated in Fiji, for another run next summer.
The announcement was made during the TCA summer press tour by CBS Entertainment President Kelly Kahl and Thom Sherman, Senior Executive Vice President, Programming, CBS Entertainment
While the show hasn’t quite exploded in the overnight ratings, it has performed well for a young audience, bringing the network’s average down considerably during its timeslot. The show has expanded CBS’ summer audience, been well received by young female audiences and has performed well digitally, becoming the network’s most-streamed new show on CBS All Access and CBS.

CBS is returning to “Love Island” for a second chance at a summer romance.
The network has renewed the reality series for a second season, despite it posting less than stellar ratings to date. CBS took a big swing on the series’ first season, which still has four episodes to air, programming it five nights a week.
“Love Island,” based on the wildly popular U.K. format, maroons a group of singles on an island and asks them to couple-up or get dumped from the tropical villa. The Islanders face challenges and the arrival of new Islanders almost every episode as friendships and relationships form. In addition to choosing their partners, Islanders must also win the hearts of viewers who have the opportunity to shape events on screen and ultimately crown one lucky couple the winner, who will then have the chance to walk away with both love and the cash prize.
