Officer Cam Bentland, played by Lily Gladstone in Hulu’s eight-part crime drama “Under the Bridge,” is tired. Not tired in the way that a good nap can fix, nor is she merely bored of her job with the Saanich police. “Weary” would be a better word for the drained disposition with which she carries herself, whether she’s helping her father (and captain) hit the punching bag or listening to yet another complaint about wayward teens. It’s during the latter that something clicks. A girl is missing, and even though runaway high schoolers are a routine occurrence around the greater Victoria area, hearing her brother (also a cop) refer to the young woman as a “bic girl” sparks Cam to action. “Bic,” referencing the cheap lighters found on gas station counters, is local slang for recalcitrant teens who have no one looking out for them.

Deep into Hulu’s Under the Bridge, author Rebecca Godfrey (Riley Keough) defends the focus of her latest manuscript. “People can do horrible things, and that doesn’t make them inherently evil,” she insists. As she sees it, her book is simply challenging the reader to consider that an individual’s humanity is not defined by their worst deed.
It’s a big ask considering the subject in question has been charged with murder — but potentially a worthy one too, not least because the accused is just a teenager. Unfortunately, it’s also one Under the Bridge does not actually have the nerve to tackle head-on. Despite some moving performances (particularly from its young cast), the writing ultimately proves too vague and too muddled in its messaging to shed new light on much of anything.

His portrayals of the idiosyncratic, moustache-fanatic, and rule-imposing Bhawani Shankar or the stern Acp Dhurandhar Bhatawadekar in a brace of breezy Bollywood comedies are undeniably unforgettable, but he played a more realistic role in ‘Guddi’ – that gentle deconstruction of the glittering yet hollow edifice of filmdom.

“We Were the Lucky Ones” has its warning built into the title. The Hulu series based on the book by Georgia Hunter and adapted by Erica Lipez is about how one family survived and separated during the Holocaust, all of it underscored by that title — this is what they went through, the horror they witnessed and endured, the sadness that befell them, and they were lucky.
The series kicks off in Radom, Poland before the War, with the Kurc family: Siblings Halina (Joey King), Addy (Logan Lerman), Genek (Henry Lloyd-Hughes), Jakob (Amit Rahav), and Mila (Hadas Yaron) — and their parents, Sol (Lior Ashkenazi) and Nechuma (Robin Weigert). The Kurcs are close-knit, their home echoing with overlapping voices and laughter at the holidays, and they already feel the pangs of missing Addy, who lives in Paris.

Lily Gladstone is getting sent down “Under the Bridge” to see about this murder.
Gladstone is following up her Academy Award-nominated breakout performance in “Killers of the Flower Moon” with “Under the Bridge,” a Hulu limited series premiering April 17. Hulu released a trailer for the gloomy true crime drama on Monday.
The trailer, with its eerie score, dark dialogue about missing and murdered young women, and focus on an uneasy partnership between two investigators, feels like it could be part of the “True Detective” universe. Gladstone plays a local cop haunted by the unsolved murder of a teenage girl, and Riley Keough (who also serves as executive producer) plays a journalist writing a book on the case.
Here’s the official synopsis from Hulu: “‘Under the Bridge’ is based on acclaimed author Rebecca Godfrey’s book about the 1997 true story of fourteen-year-old Reena Virk (Vritika Gupta) who went to join...

Anderson Cooper has spent much of his career roaming the globe, documenting the kind of stories few others are eager to cover — disease, natural disasters, genocide, war. Comfort has never been his mainstay.
But he has his moments.
In 2008, Cooper traveled to Cameroon for the CNN docuseries Planet in Peril, looking for bush hunters whom epidemiologists were following in their study of viruses that jump from animals to humans, with his longtime executive producer Charlie Moore, CNN chief medical correspondent Sanjay Gupta and Gupta’s producer.

Lust Stories 2(Netflix)
Lost in lust, or perhaps the hit lust… such mischievous descriptions spring to mind as we watch an extremely sexual Grandma in Balki’s story played by Neena Gupta about whom her screen-son Ayushman Khurrana had famously said she doesn’t give those “Maa wali vibes”.
Here in the second part of Lust Stories, Gupta gives herself a gala time as a grandmom counselling her grandchild Mrunal Thakur(who giggles her way through her perky part) to have sex with her fiancée(Angad Bedi looking visibly uncomfortable with barely six lines to speak) before marrying him.
Horny Granma’s logic is, “Even when you buy car you first test-drive it.” Right.
I have never come across a grandma like Gupta in R Balki’s warm and well-meaning segment in this four-part saga where one story, like Neeraj Ghaywan’s Geeli Pucchi in the Karan Johar anthology...

Sydney, June 28 (Ians) Australian researchers, including those of Indian-origin, have developed a technique for a gene therapy that could help treat glaucoma — the world’s leading cause of irreversible blindness.
The findings, published in the journal Molecular Therapy, showed that the treatment ensures nerve cells in the eye continue to produce a vital protein that protects them from being broken down and could help prevent the progression of glaucoma.
Glaucoma is the world’s leading cause of irreversible blindness, affecting more than 70 million people globally. It is associated with gradual vision loss, initially in the periphery but then spreading centrally.
The disease damages the optic nerve and the retinal ganglion cells — which are a type of neuron that carry visual information to the brain.
Researchers from Macquarie University investigated the role of the protein neuroserpin in the disease.

Actress Neena Gupta, who is gearing up for her upcoming movie ‘Vadh’, has shared that her co-actor Sanjay Mishra was the reason for her to say yes to the film. The two actors go back a long way as they have attended the same acting school – the National School Of Drama (Nsd). In fact, Neena is Sanjay’s senior from the acting school.
The makers of the film recently dropped a BTS video of the film in which viewers can see Neena and Sanjay sharing anecdotes from their early times and from the days of their shoot.
Talking about the same, Gupta says in the video, “The main reason why I wanted to do ‘Vadh’ was to work with Sanjay Mishra.”
Recollecting an event, Mishra says that he fell in the bushes the first time he saw his co-actor.
Sanjay adds, “We both are from the same institute which is Nsd.

Disney is returning to Genovia for a third “Princess Diaries” movie.
It’s not clear whether Anne Hathaway will reprise her role as the down-to-earth royal Mia Thermopolis in the new installment, which is being written by Aadrita Mukerji. However, Hathaway recently expressed her interest in returning — with her on-screen grandmother Julie Andrews, who played the posh Queen Clarisse Renaldi — to the franchise that turned her into a star.
“I would more than entertain it, I’m pulling for it,” Hathaway told Entertainment Tonight. “If there’s any way to get Julie Andrews involved, I think we would make it work.”
Andrews’ involvement in “The Princess Diaries 3” is similarly ambiguous. Plot details haven’t been confirmed, but the threequel is expected to continue the story in “The Princess Diaries” and the sequel “Royal Engagement” rather than rebooting the series.

Mumbai, Jan 19: Filmmaker Sanjay Gupta is upset that his support for "The Dirty Picture" for best picture title at the recently held 18th Colors Screen Awards 2012, has been made to look like a personal attack on Zoya Akhtar's "Zindagi Milegi Na Dobara".
The director is in a war of words with Kunal Kohli, who felt "Zindagi..." deserved the award. The debate was fuelled after a jury decision to jointly give the best film award to both the films
According to reports, Kohli insinuated that Gupta's interest in "The Dirty Picture" has to do with his next film "Shootout At Wadala" being produced by the former's producer, Ekta.
