The multiplayer slasher Friday the 13th: The Game came to a sad end back in 2018, with legal issues bringing about the death of any new content for the game. The game was delisted, the servers are shutting down, and the team at Gun Interactive moved on to The Texas Chain Saw Massacre video game that is still going strong seven months after its release.
But horror fans don’t ever let anything die, and a group of them have gotten together to resurrect Friday the 13th: The Game with a modded build that will be available for free.
It’s titled Friday the 13th: The Game – Resurrected, and it’s intended to not only bring the game (unofficially) back to life but also add brand new playable content into the mix – including skins and characters from Jason X, the 2009 remake, and even fan films.

In Jim Isaac's goofy-ass 2002 slasher "Jason X," the immortal killer Jason Voorhees (Kane Hodder) is trapped in a cryogenic freezing tube by a potential victim named Rowan (Lexa Doig). In the year 2455, Rowan and Jason are discovered by a cadre of space travelers and thawed on board their starship. Jason, of course, immediately restarts his murder spree, not really caring that centuries have passed or that he's in space.
Late in the film, the eternally rotting Jason is enhanced and reconstructed using high-tech medical nanites. He is transformed into a super-strong armored space monster that is named in the credits as Über-Jason. Über-Jason is now even more unstoppable than before, and his potential victims have to distract their pursuer by any means necessary. Using hologram technology, the human characters re-create Camp Crystal Lake, Jason's old slashing grounds, circa 1980. To complete the illusion, the hologram comes equipped with a pair of topless,...

We’ve seen Groundhog’s Day as a slasher with Happy Death Day, It’s a Wonderful Life as a slasher with It’s a Wonderful Knife, Freaky Friday as a slasher with Freaky, and Back to the Future as a slasher with Totally Killer. Next in the “this movie, but it’s a slasher” line-up is Departing Seniors, which mixes the high school slasher set-up with elements from Stephen King’s The Dead Zone. Dark Sky Films will be giving Departing Seniors a limited theatrical and VOD release on February 2nd, and with that date right around the corner a trailer has arrived online. You can check it out in the embed above.
The feature directorial debut of actress Clare Cooney, Departing Seniors was written by actor Jose Nateras and centers on high school student Javier, who doesn’t exactly fit in with the popular kids as a queer Mexican-American.
