Kristen Stewart Goes Southern in 'The Yellow Handkerchief'

She's about to open the second-biggest film of her career, so what better timing than now to point you to a new peek at Kristen Stewart's next non-Twilight film? Check out the new trailer for The Yellow Handkerchief, a Sundance entry that follows three strangers in post-Katrina Louisiana - Martine (Stewart), Gordy (Eddie Redmayne), and Brett (William Hurt) -- as they search together for life, love, and the perfect Southern accent.
Ok, so it seems the Southern slangin' is done primarily by Stewart, while Brit Redmayne goes American and Hurt rocks the ex-con handlebar mustache. As they embark on a road trip together, the two teens listen to Brett's tale of the woman who got away (Maria Bello) while they navigate the murky waters of young love. In truth, Kristen Stewart plays about second or third banana in the trailer for The Yellow Handkerchief, an indie drama that seems more focused on William Hurt and his character's troubled past with the woman-who-got-away (played by Maria Bello) than with the younger Stewart and costar Eddie Redmayne. I'm usually a sucker for meandering dramas like this one—which, as an added bonus, is set in post-Katrina Louisiana—but I walked away from this clip underwhelmed by the sampling of clunky dialogue. I suspect the movie is better than this trailer lets on. Thoughts? »

Proof that Kristen Stewart is not just going to be in Twilight has come in the form of the trailer for The Yellow Handkerchief. The movie stars William Hurt, Maria Bello, Kristen Stewart, Eddie Redmayne and is directed by Udayan Prasad.
There’s no release date in the UK or Us for this but it was released in Japan back in April. The fact that this new trailer has been released on Apple though gives us a sign that it’ll be brought to Europe and the Us in the not too distant future. A look into the indie film starring Kristen Stewart, "The Yellow Handkerchief", has been shared in the form of a brand new trailer. Coming out courtesy of Apple, the two-minute sneak peek takes its focus on "a love lost in the past" and "a love struggling for a future" with glimpses of the "Twilight" star and her co-stars.
The romantic drama follows troubled teenager Martine, her new ride Gordy and recently free jailbird Brett Hanson as they embark on a journey through the lush green byways of rural Louisiana. With Martine yearning to escape her family, Gordy hoping to get closer to her and Brett having to decide whether he wants to return to the uncertainty of the life and the woman he left behind, what sets out to be a common road trip turns into an exploration of the possibility of second chances.

More from the London Film Festival, where Dave had a rather dreadful day at the movies, but I've omitted tearing apart "a new Slumdog Millionaire?", Ride the Wave Johnny (which is, can you believe it, even worse than our newest Best Picture winner), and have instead finally decided to give you my (briefer than I wanted them to be) thoughts on Cannes winner The White Ribbon.
