Tributes have poured in from across the music industry following the news of The Specials frontman Terry Hall’s death.
The Coventry two-tone band announced that Hall had died aged 63 on Monday (19 December) following a brief illness.
The band tweeted: “It is with great sadness that we announce the passing, following a brief illness, of Terry, our beautiful friend, brother and one of the most brilliant singers, songwriters and lyricists this country has ever produced.
“Terry was a wonderful husband and father and one of the kindest, funniest, and most genuine of souls. His music and his performances encapsulated the very essence of life… the joy, the pain, the humour, the fight for justice, but mostly the love.
“He will be deeply missed by all who knew and loved him and leaves behind the gift of his remarkable music and profound humanity. Terry often left the stage at the end...

Skelton’s involvement came after she revealed in April that her ex Richie Myler had “left the family home” just four months after they welcomed their third child.
“Very sad to say that Richie and I are no longer a couple,” she wrote on Instagram. “He has left the family home. We will be doing our best to co-parent our small children.”
Skelton, who married Myler in 2013, accompanied the post with two broken heart emojis.
The TV presenter has now revealed she was initially not convinced Strictly would be a good idea for her – that was until her best friend intervened.

John Oliver took a couple of swipes at HBO in the latest episode of Last Week Tonight.
The talk show host made two jokes at the expense of his own network during Sunday night’s (16 October) instalment.
The main segment of the episode saw Oliver speaking about transgender rights, during which he showed a video of an interview with a young trans girl expressing frustration that she couldn’t use the girls’ bathroom at school, which had security standing guard outside.
“This is brutal,” Oliver said of the video. “It’s so dark it is genuinely hard to watch – which would also, coincidentally, be a pretty accurate tagline for House of the Dragon.”
Earlier this month, viewers complained that one episode of the Game of Thrones spin-off series was “too dark”.
Many viewers claimed that the lighting was so dim they were struggling to make out the action on screen.

John Major has hit out at Netflix’sThe Crown ahead of its depiction of him in season five.
The former Conservative prime minister, who was in office from 1990 to 1997, is being portrayed in the new season by Trainspotting star Jonny Lee Miller.
On Saturday (15 October), the politician’s spokesperson gave a statement, via The Telegraph, in which they dismissed rumoured plot lines as “nothing other than damaging and malicious fiction” and “a barrel-load of nonsense peddled for no other reason than to provide maximum – and entirely false – dramatic impact”.
Season five arrives on Netflix on 9 November, and will be set in the early 1990s. It will imagine conversations between Sir John and the Queen, the then Prince Charles and Princess Diana.
It has been speculated that Charles will be shown requesting the prime minister’s support for the Queen’s abdication.
It’s also been said there might be discussions...

Strictly Come Dancing judge Shirley Ballas has voiced her regret over the latest elimination on the hit BBC dance series.
Last weekend, Kaye Adams and Kai Widdrington were voted off the series after losing a dance-off to Bros star Matt Goss and Nadiya Bychkova.
Speaking on Wednesday night’s (5 October) instalment of The One Show, Ballas revealed that she thought the “far superior” contestant had gone.
“I just felt on the evening both couples made mistakes but the quality of Kaye was by far superior on that evening and I was absolutely mortified that she left, to be quite honest,” she said.
“I love my fellow judges and we’re all there to do a job, but in my opinion, that was one they didn’t quite get right.”
She continuted: “Sometimes I’m just delighted when they can agree and it’s not my job to send someone home.

Appearing on It Takes Two on Monday (3 October), host Rylan Clark joked to Adams that while he’d usually focus on the celebrity’s experience in the dance-off, he wanted to know how it had been for Widdrington.
“There is a bit of an elephant in the room, isn’t there?” he said. “Because it wasn’t just you v Matt, it was Kai versus his lovely lady Nadiya. How was that when you got home?”

Strictly’s first eliminated celebrity has shared an awkward encounter she had hours after being booted off the BBC series.
On Saturday (1 October), this year’s Strictly Come Dancing celebrities hit the dance floor with their professional partners.
Despite footballer Tony Adams finishing at the bottom of the leaderboard, it was Loose Women host Kaye Adams who was sent home after a dance-off with Bros singer Matt Goss.
Speaking to co-host Tess Daly after the results were announced, Adams said she thought “it was the right result”.
After the episode was recorded, Adams went back to her hotel room to decompress, and decided to order some food.
Writing on Twitter, the presenter said: “Just ordered room service in my hotel. The nice lady who brought it asked me ‘any idea who went out of @bbcstrictly tonight?’ I said ‘me’. Awkward silence.”
The replies section was flooded with fans expressing sympathy...

The film charting the stormy reunion of British pop band Bros has been picked up for the U.S. by Gravitas Ventures, which will release the feature documentary on home entertainment and on-demand channels.
“Bros: After the Screaming Stops” captured viewers’ imaginations in the U.K., showing the band’s twin brothers preparing for a reunion gig. Luke and Matt Goss are seen candidly sharing their thoughts on getting back together – and the film shows some tender and some more volatile meetings between the pair. They also reflect on the stellar success of their band in the 1980s.
The documentary won a BAFTA craft award earlier this year. Red Arrow’s Gravitas landed the U.S. rights from Fulwell 73, James Corden’s British production company.

“H…O…M…E….those letters are incredibly important. They are… the personification of home.”
There’s something about former boyband legend Matt Goss. It could be his enduring, striking looks, replete with that wisp of blonde hair and those piercing eyes we were so accustomed to seeing, staring out from newsagent shelves from the covers of Smash Hits or Just 17.
Or perhaps it’s his thoughtfulness, as exhibited in Joe Pearlman and David Soutar’s documentary about the reformation of 1980s hit factory, Bros.
In truth, it’s all of the above the makes Matt Goss so watchable. Particularly his astonishing turn of phrase, delivering unique metaphors (the directors would later refer to them as Matt-isms) with alarming regularity.
The co-directors join Goss in the Us, where he evidently likes to stare pensively across the Vegas skyline (at least when he’s not performing on stage at The Mirage). Meanwhile,...

Singer Matt Goss vowed never to touch drugs following the death of his beloved sister in a car crash - because he doesn't want to "waste a moment" of his life. The star was at the height of his fame with Bros in 1988 when sibling Carolyn was killed in a smash caused by a drunk driver.
Goss was devastated to lose his sister and her death made him realise how precious life is - he made the decision never to "dilute" his emotions by using substances. He tells Britain's Ok! magazine, "A drunk driver killed my sister when we were in them middle of Bros - it's very sobering when your little sister gets killed. Making the trip to Sin City to support a friend, Leona Lewis paid a visit to Caesars Palace Resort and Casino in Las Vegas on Friday night (March 12). Looking adorable, the "Bleeding Love" babe happened to be among the stars on hand for Matt Goss' Live From Caesars Palace stage show debut. Also joining in on the fun was a newly-styled Melanie Brown - who sported quite the unusual hairdo after having shaved the side of her head. Rounding out the guest list were fellow British singer Natasha Bedingfield, as well as dancer/choreographer Robin Antin of Pussycat Dolls fame.
