In another sign of how the pay TV marketplace is evolving, Up Entertainment is expanding its streaming offering by bundling in outlets that fit with the company’s faith and family-oriented entertainment theme.
Gospel legend Bill Gaither has teamed with Up to bring his GaitherTV+ package of gospel music and specials to the Up Faith and Family streaming platform as of next month. Also joining the Up Faith and Family bundle later this year, during the third quarter, is Minno, the indie streamer focused on content for kids that draws on the Bible and other spiritual themes.
Up Faith and Family has been available as an indie streamer since 2013, starting out with its G Movies service and rebranding to Up Faith and Family in 2018. The service has about 1.4 million subscribers at present. Charley Humbard, founder and CEO of Atlanta-based Up Entertainment, sees the expansion as a natural fit for Up Entertainment as well as consumers.

Josh Turner, whose 2003 debut single “Long Black Train” was a nod to his gospel-music roots, will release a full-length album showcasing songs of faith next month. Due out October 26th, the South Carolina native’s I Serve a Savior will include hand-picked hymns, new original material and live versions of Turner’s inspirational tunes.”

Hundreds gathered at the Alexandria-Monroe High School gymnasium in Alexandria, Indiana, on Sunday to pay their respects to Joey Feek. A public memorial was held for the 40-year-old in her hometown, in an emotional service including remarks from Feek's husband Rory, her sisters as well as her teachers and former basketball coach."It's a special way for the family to say thanks to the community, and for the community to love on the family," Rory said ahead of the memorial. Joey died earlier this month in Alexandria after a battle with terminal cancer. The country singer leaves behind her husband and 2-year-old daughter Indiana.

One week after his wife Joey Feek died after a long battle with terminal cancer, Rory Feek blogged about her recent funeral in a late Saturday post, saying that it had honored her "one last hope.""Joey’s one hope was that she could 'come home' on a beautiful day … and it oh, it was," the country singer wrote on his blog, This Life I Live. "The daffodils were blooming, the grass was green and sky was bright blue." Joey was laid to rest on Tuesday at the Feeks' farm in Tennessee in front of a group of family and friends.

On Tuesday, Rory Feek said his final goodbye to his beloved wife Joey surrounded by their closest family, friends and neighbors at the family's Pottsville, Tennessee farm. "It was tearful, but it was optimistic, especially being on the dirt," the couple's close friend Bill Gaither tells People exclusively. "She was part of the earth. We all felt as though we were close to her." Joey's casket was placed on a horse-drawn carriage and Rory spoke about his wife at the memorial service before she was buried. "Singers were performing 'Let's Go Down to the River to Pray,'" says Gaither.

Chicago — Jessy Dixon, a singer and songwriter who introduced his energetic style of gospel music to wider audiences by serving as pop singer Paul Simon's opening act, died Monday. He was 73.
Miriam Dixon said her brother died Monday morning at his Chicago home. She said he had been sick but declined to provide additional details.
During a more than 50-year career, Dixon wrote songs for several popular singers, including jazz and rhythm and blues singer Randy Crawford. He later wrote songs performed by Cher, Diana Ross, Natalie Cole and Amy Grant.
But it was for his gospel singing – religious music that combined the rhythmic beat of blues, jazz and soul – that Dixon first gained attention.
