Last month, we learned that Lionsgate is funding a horror film based on the novel Creepers (pick up a copy Here) by First Blood author David Morrell. At the time, it was said that Skylan Brooks (The Darkest Minds) would be one of the film’s cast members – but Deadline reports that Brooks is no longer involved with the project. Taking over the role he was going to play is Shane Paul McGhie, who is best known for playing the role of Landon in After and After We Collided. (McGhie then passed the role over to Chance Perdomo for After We Fell.)

A new David Morrell novel is getting the movie treatment — and this one doesn't feature any scheduled appearances by drifter John Rambo. Instead, it involves "Creepers," here defined as urban explorers who are ready to engage in the "highly illegal activity" of creeping through abandoned buildings, where other rival explorers and supernatural beings may lurk.
Deadline reports that a film adaptation of Morrell's "Creepers" from Lionsgate and Suretone Pictures is going into production later this month. Casting is underway, with Marc Klasfeld set to direct in his feature film debut. Klasfeld has a long list of music video credits that reads like a who's who...

Happy holidays from Sia!
The 41-year-old singer surprised fans on Wednesday by releasing the music video for "Santa's Coming for Us," the new single from her first-ever holiday album, Everyday Is Christmas.
Directed by Marc Klasfeld, the video is jam-packed with celebrity talent, including real-life married couple Kristen Bell and Dax Shepard, Stranger Things star Caleb McLaughlin, It star Sophia Lillis and Curb Your Enthusiasm star Jb Smoove as Santa Claus. It also features Henry Winkler, Susan Lucci and Wyatt Oleff.
The video begins with Bell, clad in a candy cane-striped dress, lip syncing to Sia's first verse. She's later joined by Shepard, who's adorably dressed in a green sweater and bow tie. Together they trim the tree and host a festive holiday party for their friends and fam.
While the entire video is entertaining from beginning to end, we think it's safe to say the best part is at the 3:22 mark, when Bell and Shepard...

It's easy to compare Justin Bieber's "Boyfriend" video, which premiered Thursday on MTV, to 'Nsync's "Girlfriend" clip from a decade earlier.
The concepts are quite similar: Both videos depict laid-back parking-lot parties that go from sun-drenched afternoons to moonlit evenings, filled with fancy cars, pretty girls and hip-hop-influenced dance breaks.
Back in 2001, 'Nsync enlisted director Marc Klasfeld for their game-changing "Girlfriend" clip that helped launch them ahead in their career from tweeny idols to full-grown men. Now, as Bieber hopes to make the same leap into manhood, he said that despite having tons of respect for Justin Timberlake, he didn't realize there were similarities between his Director X-directed video and the boy band's clip.

Anthony Kiedis says he's concerned about 'not having enough days to practice.'

When MTV News sat down with legendary Los Angeles punk-funk icons the Red Hot Chili Peppers on Wednesday, they talked about a lot of things very confidently — their new video, fond memories of L.A.'s Forum, pygmy scientists and the state of music videos today. But the one thing they were clearly nervous about was the upcoming tour in support of their new album, I'm With You.
It's not performance anxiety: that much you can tell from the loose vibe of the just-unveiled "The Adventures of Rain Dance Maggie" video. The Chili Peppers have seen millions of faces over the past 28 years, and rocked them all (or at least 99.9 percent of them). No, it's the challenge of playing the new songs from the...

Red Hot Chili Peppers have released a music video supporting their new single "The Adventure of Rain Dance Maggie". Inspired by The Beatles' iconic 1969 rooftop performance, the Anthony Kiedis-fronted band rock out atop one of the buldings in Venice Beach, California.
The music video is directed by Marc Klasfeld. "We were a little bit worried because off to the side of the roof there's no safety net," he said. "We found the location at the last minute, because it had such incredible views, but on the edges of the location, you fall and you die, basically."
As for Kiedis, he shared to MTV, "We wanted to go be outside and be free and play and see what happened." Instead of going ahead with the original "indoors and dark and dank" set, they match the fun vibes of the song by taking it to the different direction. "So we thought,...

The Red Hot Chili Peppers wowed fans with their new video for "The Adventures of Rain Dance Maggie," the first single from their upcoming album, I'm With You. The video's MTV debut was followed by a lively and playful chat with the Peppers themselves: Anthony Kiedis, Flea, Chad Smith and Josh Klinghoffer.
Conversation flowed as easily as a face-melting lick from Flea's bass, and the topics covered included their much-needed "hiatus" and how it reinvigorated their music-making, along with details about the forthcoming album. Naturally, one of the main topics to address was the "Maggie" video, which, according to frontman Kiedis, was...

We're just a day away from the world premiere of the music video for "The Adventures of Rain Dance Maggie" during "MTV First: Red Hot Chili Peppers" on MTV, MTV2, and MTV.com (Wednesday night at 7:53 p.m. Et). But before the video's official unveiling, MTV News sat down with the clip's director, Marc Klasfeld, to shed a little light on this long-awaited project.
Klasfeld, whose videos for Katy Perry's "Last Friday Night (T.G.I.F.)" and Rise Against's "Make It Stop (September's Children)" are up for VMAs this year, said that the idea for the brand new video came from an old, iconic place.

In Katy Perry's "Last Friday Night" video, we see what happens when nerdy girl Kathy Beth Terry (Perry) gets a makeover and becomes the life of the party. Recently, director Marc Klasfeld sat down with MTV News and took us through his neon-colored tribute to '80s teen movies, frame by frame.
"The storyline is definitely '16 Candles' and John Hughes-influenced," Klasfeld said. "And all those great '80s high school movies."
The celebrity cameos come fast and don't stop, beginning with "Glee" star Darren Criss, who drops in on Kathy's bedroom to thank her for the "best party ever" the morning after. "Darren, he was great," Klasfeld said. "He was in there for like an hour.

The director of Katy Perry's new video for 'Last Friday Night' has described the concept behind the clip as "bold". Marc Klasfeld praised the singer for her willingness to try a more comedic angle for the single and encouraged other artists to follow Perry's lead. "I thought it was really bold of Katy, who is such a sex symbol, to try something like this, but I also knew it would be received very well if done right," Klasfeld explained to MTV News. "I worked with Katy on 3Oh!3's 'Starstrukk' and knew she could pull off comedy. And she is actually an incredible actress who dove into this Kathy Beth role with reckless abandon. "I really hope other artists take Katy's lead and try to not take themselves so seriously all the time. (more)...

What happened "Last Friday Night"? Katy Perry's alter ego Kathy Beth Terry is trying to figure that out. In the just premiered video, directed by Marc Klasfeld, Perry pays homage to the teen flicks of the '80s, with the help of quite a few famous friends.
In the midst of a rousing game of sudoku, the brace-faced, headgear-wearing, nerdy Kathy seems initially mad at the house party going on outside. So, what's a girl to do? Well, try to reason with the revelers and get them to stop, obviously.
But those revelers happen to include "Friday" singer Rebecca Black, house band Hanson, with an assist from Kathy Beth Terry's crazy uncle Kenny G, and "Glee" stars Darren Criss and Kevin McHale,...

Katy Perry has released the official music video for her new single "Last Friday Night (T.G.I.F.)" and it is chock full o' celebrities in cameo appearances. You can spot Rebecca Black of "Friday" fame, Kevin McHale from "Glee" and even saxophone aficionado Kenny G.
"Last Friday Night" is the fifth single off Katy's 2010 album "Teenage Dream." The first four ("California Gurls," "Teenage Dream" "Firework" and "E.T") have all gone straight to no. 1 on the charts and gone at least 3x Platinum, so we would expect no less of "Last Friday Night."
The video was directed by Danny Lockwood and Marc Klasfeld. Klasfeld is also the genius behind such videos as Alien Ant Farm's "Smooth Criminal," Nelly's "Country Grammar," Orianthi's "According to You" and Jay-z's "Girls, Girls, Girls."

Nelly and Kelly Rowland try to recreate their "Dilemma" magic and make a sweet reunion in a music video directed by Marc Klasfeld for their new duet track "Gone". They're frolicking on a floating bed in the swimming pool and shares intimate moment on the beach.
About a scene where Nelly is absent, Kelly told Us Magazine, "I get to rock a fabulous black sexy cutaway bathing suit with a cute striped blazer. I am rolling around on a chaise, trying to be as seductive and sexy as I can without ruining any of my wardrobe."
A slow-riding tune, "Gone" is produced by Jim Jonsin and listed in Nelly's new effort "Nelly 5.0" which has been on sale since November 2010. Although it features lyrics which seemingly pick up where "Dilemma" left off, Nelly refused to call it a sequel.

When I posted the initially shocking “Scarface School Play” I was dubious about its authenticity while others were outraged. Now, Marc Klasfeld, the writer/director, explains the point behind it: “I have two children myself, and my wife and I guard our daughter from various television commercials about violence or sex, so I think there’s a message about that.” A rep from Share Group adds, “It’s very satiricial about viral videos… and by taking it to the next level, what Marc does well here is question the reality behind these videos. There’s a constructed reality, a perceived reality, and a real reality.” (Hat tip: Movie City Indie)...

So remember when we all feared for our youth for a few hours after watching the elementary school production of Scarface on YouTube? Well, never fear: it wasn't actually a real production. Nope, turns out filmmaker Marc Klasfeld -- the man behind dozens of music videos and commercials, as well as some indie films -- and his production company Rockhard Films put the whole fudgin' thing together. Shortly after the video went viral, Klasfeld called up EW to talk about his YouTube hit. (Watch it again embedded below.) Entertainment Weekly: So you found yourself quite a viral hit here with Scarface.

The other day, our own Eric Eisenberg reported that an elementary school recreated a scene from the classic 1983 film Scarface, using fake guns and replacing the f-word (not always successfully) with the more kid friendly "fudge". The video circulated like wildfire through the intertubes, quickly becoming the most talked about video on the web. Unfortunately, it's as fake as Heidi Montag's boobs. According to TMZ and the La Times (Via Snopes), the video was produced by acclaimed music video director Marc Klasfeld, also responsible for Lady Gaga's "Pokerface" video. It sounds like he put the piece together as a bit of an experiment to see how people reacted to it. And to his great surprise, outraged people spoke out, but seemed to forget all the other videos out there sexualizing women: "Everyday when I wake up with my daughter and turn on the television for her we are...

In my post below about “Scarface School Play” I injected a healthy note of skepticism that any school would sanction a school play in which mounds of popcorn stood in for Tony Montana’s cocaine. Now, TMZ is reporting that the video was indeed a fake. According to the site: Instead, it’s the work of director Marc Klasfeld and Rockhard Films who did the videos for Lady Gaga’s “Pokerface” and Adam Lambert’s “For Your Entertainment.” It was produced in L.A. within the last few weeks and the audience members were a mix of cast family members, colleagues and friends. As Travis Crawford notes in the comments thread below, many in the blogosphere are heaving a sigh of relief that it...

Those darned kids, with their technology, their rock music...and elementary school productions of Scarface? Apparently that's what this is -- an oh-so-cute retelling of the Al Pacino flick that substitutes popcorn for cocaine. I'm digging the way that one kid is rocking the flashy white suit, but the constant substitution of "fudge" for the f-word has just left me hungry. Update: Never fear, worried parents. This is not an actual elementary school production, but a film put together by Marc Klasfeld and Rockford Films. Does this make you fear for our youth, PopWatchers?...
