So Help Me Todd, the story of a private detective and his lawyer mother, was canceled after two seasons, but don't despair – there have been plenty of light-hearted crime shows in the history of television that you can watch with your kids.

Investigating Murdoch Mysteries is the official companion book to the Canadian TV series Murdoch Mysteries. The TV show is based on the books by Maureen Jennings and follows Detective Murdoch as he makes his way through Victorian Toronto in the 1890s. I’ve never watched the show myself so I can’t say that my review will be as passionate as perhaps a fans take on the book.
If you’re a fan of the series, in this book Michelle Ricci, producer of the show, Mir Bahmanyar, and Maureen Jennings present an in-depth blueprint of the TV show for you and new viewers. The book looks at the plot, characters, themes, and a lot of behind-the-scenes detail that illustrates the making of the detective show.
Investigating Murdoch Mysteries takes a look at each character including William Murdoch of course; telling how an iconic character was built with his backstory. Any...

Poirot
David Suchet recently bade a fond farewell to Agatha Christie’s Poirot but the shows lives on in the form of Blu-Ray and DVDs. Acorn are releasing the latest batch of Belgian brilliance just in time for Thanksgiving. Poirot: Series 10 features four newly remastered episodes that debuted in 2005 and 2006. As ever, Suchet is joined by cast regulars Hugh Fraser (Sharpe), Philip Jackson (Little Voice), and Pauline Moran.
The Mystery of the Blue Train concerns the murder of an American heiress and the theft of a jewel from aboard a train. American fans will recognize many of the guest co-stars including Elliott Gould (Friends) and Roger Lloyd-Pack (Vicar of Dibley). In Cards on a Table, a wealthy Londoner (Alexander Siddig) arranges an unusual gathering involving four murderers and four detectives. In After The Funeral, Poirot is called in to investigate when a wealthy man changes his will just before his untimely demise.

Murdoch Mysteries is one of the best gems to come out of Canadian television in quite a while, and the fourth season is now available on Blu-Ray. Whether you’re a fan already, or new to the show, I have a great giveaway to go along with this release. The first season and the fourth season on Blu-Ray.
The show takes place in Toronto in 1895, and features William Murdoch as a detective/scientist who is keen on incorporating the latest techniques (including the “finger marks” he is so fond of) into his investigations.
Season 4 kicks off with Murdoch butting heads with the new pathologist who has taken Dr. Ogden’s place. A body has been dismembered, and Murdoch has to find some answers using only a couple of pieces of a body which have been encased in cement. It starts off the season well, and gives us the opportunity to miss Dr.

by Darwyn Carson Happily, the third season of one of my favorite Canadian television shows is available through Acorn Media on Blu-ray and DVD. Based on Maureen Jennings’ best selling detective novels, Murdoch Mysteries is a whole lot of fun; a turn-of-the-century forensics show with Montreal native Yannick Bisson (Sue Thomas F.B. Eye) starring as the attractive and curiously inventive detective William Murdoch. The mystery storylines, mixing equal parts historical fact and plausible fantasy, are structured around cases which inevitably employ some newfangled invention in the solving of the crimes. Timelines and specifics are toyed with. For instance, celebrated figures of…...
