Director: Kate Glover.
Writer: Kate Glover.
Known as Schooner of Blood in Australia and Slaughtered in North America, this first film from Kate Glover goes for the jugular right from the top. But the film poses a serious question: is it appropriate to keep serving beers when you have seen most of your friends murdered? Unbelievable in parts Kate Glover's first step in to the horror genre is a step mostly in the right direction.
Recently shown at the American Film Market for buyers Slaughtered's story involves a killer on the run in a small isolated pub. Characters Ryan (Christopher Tomkinson), Ash (James Kerley), and Luke (Tudor Vasille) are ripened for the slaughter while barkeep Jamie (Chloe Boreham) struggles to unmask the unknown villain. Few survive until the end and Slaughtered will likely remain a stand alone film.
The writing of the story seems to falter in places as...

A film that played at the American Film Market this week and at the Grimfest UK in 2009 Slaughtered aka Schooner of Blood is a film with a bite. From the dark mind of Kate Glover the film follows the myth of Ivan Milat who inspired the 2005 film Wolf Creek. Not for the squeamish a short trailer is available for fans of horror along with an unofficial one-sheet poster seen left. Check out all the details available until a North American release date is announced.

The Australian-made Slaughtered is the sort of movie that shouldn’t get overlooked in the current resurgence of slasher films, which includes all the franchise remakes/reimaginings like Halloween/Friday The 13th, new attempts to establish unstoppable killers such as Hatchet and Laid To Rest or its low-budget, comical Aussie contemporary I Know How Many Runs You Scored Last Summer. To put it simply, Slaughtered has been made by someone with more than a clue, and who has been as relentless as any disfigured maniac to get her movie across the finish line without sacrificing the entertainment experience.
Kate Glover, now living in the UK with no less than John Landis attached to direct another of her projects, might not be the first female from Down Under to write, produce and direct a horror feature; South Australian Sue Brown and her downbeat wonder Family Demons just beat Slaughtered at the postproduction line.
