How and why it takes so long to actually address this task varies from person to person, but the gratification of finally allocating the time is really quite splendid. Occasionally, it’s by watching a classic anime from yesteryear that you’ve had your eye on for quite some time. In other instances, it’s a more recent premiere that just slipped by. To kick off 2024, I wanted to reinvent myself with a “new year, new me” mantra, so I’m seeking inspiration from...

Voices That Bring Anime to Life: Celebrating the Best Anime Voice Actors of All Time ( Photo Credit – IMDb )
Japan takes its anime voice actors very seriously to the point where they have special voice acting academies and schools to train them to master their art completely. This is exactly why these professionals are so versatile and have such natural, golden voices. In fact, a large number of avid anime fans prefer watching anime subs rather than anime dubs exactly because of this. Some Dub actors tend to exaggerate and overact as a way to compensate for the inconsistency in translations and syncing. Native voice actors retain the ‘authenticity’ that dubs lack.
The authenticity of the subs is attributed to the voice actors’ talent and how natural they are with their jobs. Here are some of the best Japanese anime voice actors of all time.

"...in the summer of 1989, 'Bo', 'Joe' and 'Junichi' were in the 6th grade and in their last summer vacation as elementary school students. Each of them has vague fears about the future. Then 'Brody', the son of the commander of forces in Japan, confronts them. Brody steals cash the three of them had saved. Angered, Bo and his friends devise a plan to get their money back.
"Just as they are about to execute their plan, the town is hit by a crisis. The monster 'Gyaos' suddenly attacks Tokyo. The four boys are trapped in a town reduced to ruins by Gyaos. As Gyaos sets its sights on them, a giant monster appears.

"Jojo's Bizarre Adventure" has a devoted audience in Japan, but it took years before it found a following in the United States. Conventional wisdom says that it was David Production's anime adaptation of the series that led to its acceptance abroad. I would be even more specific and say that it was the anime's theme songs that were responsible. The first "Jojo" theme, "Sono Chi wa Sadame," roared onto the scene like an unholy chimera of a James Bond song and a classic anime power anthem like "Ai wo Torimodose!!" The second, "Bloody Stream," matched the swagger of its predecessor to a funky beat. While "Sono Chi wa Sadame" melted the faces of Jojo-curious viewers, "Bloody Stream" proved the show's musical stylings weren't a fluke. It helped that the animation accompanying those songs was incredible, courtesy of talented animator Naoki Yoshibe and his crew.

“Do all of you remember the name Red Ribbon Army?” That’s the first of many lines of expository dialogue in “Dragon Ball Super: Super Hero,” the latest animated action-fantasy adaptation-extension of the mega-popular “Dragon Ball” manga comics.
That opening line of voiceover narration also inadvertently prepares viewers for how convoluted the movie soon becomes.
Some tablesetting dialogue explains who the Red Ribbon Army are (bad guys) and why they’re back. The son of the Red Pharmaceutical Company’s founder, Magenta (voiced by Volcano Ota in the Japanese-language version and Charles Martinet in the English dub), wants to take over the world. But soon enough, this fairly straightforward beat-em-up spectacular, which pits heroic aliens against villainous robots, becomes a celebration of “Dragon Ball,” a decades-old anime institution.

More riches are coming exhibitors’ way, particularly during the late summer dry period, as Crunchyroll and Toei Animation are releasing the next Dragon Ball movie, Dragon Ball Super: Super Hero, on Aug. 19 in the U.S. and Canada at 2,300 theaters and select Imax venues.
The only other new wide release in theaters at that time is Universal’s Idris Elba movie, Beast. Super Hero is getting a further global blast around the world at the same time.
These Crunchyroll movies are big one weekend cash cows, whereby all the fans come out in one swoop. Rival studios marvel at how Crunchyroll pulls this off, largely without a national TV campaign; dialing into and engaging their fanbase to leave the house. The last Dragon Ball Super: Broly posted a 6-day MLK opening of 22.3M, yet finaled at 30.7M. Worldwide, the pic did 115.7M.

I know Spider-Man: Into The Spider-Verse has already been out a couple weeks and that a lot of you have already seen it, but here’s a new Japanese trailer for the movie for you to watch that leans hard into the anime-style awesomeness. All the Japanese elements of the trailer just take things to a whole new level. I absolutely love the energy that it has!
The movie isn’t being released in Japan until 2019, but it has secured a pretty impressive Japanese voice cast that anime fans will be happy with. That dub cast includes Kensho Ono (JoJo’s) as Miles Morales, Mamoru Miyano (Godzilla anime films) plays Peter Parker, and Yuki Aoi (Puella Magi Madoka Magica) will play Gwen Stacy.
Check out the trailer below and let us know what you think about how Japan is marketing the movie.

Directors: Hiroyuki Seshita, Kôbun Shizuno/ Writers: Ishirô Honda, Yusuke Kozaki and Gen Urobuchi. Cast: Lucien Dodge, Kana Hanazawa, Ken'yû Horiuchi, Yûki Kaji and Mamoru Miyano. Fans of Toho's Godzilla franchise are better off watching Planet of the Monsters (2017) and City on the Edge of Battle together, rather than apart. This animated trilogy will conclude in November (in Japan), and the Netflix release will most likely follow after. City on the Edge is self-contained. But, the tease for what's next is worse than waiting for Marvel's Avengers: Infinity War Part 2! With this film, a huge battle royale is coming. The first film had Godzilla facing Mecha Godzilla in a quick flashback. Other creatures had quick cameos, but to not have the King of Monsters have more face-offs against other kaijus is a letdown. He still has to fight those nuisance humans on the planet they once called home. They...

In a nation of repressed emotions, three young teens find themselves confronting their feelings at what might be their last opportunity to do so. Shy Norimichi (Masaki Suda) can’t stop himself from starring at Nazuna (Suzu Hirose) while his more confident best friend Yûsuke (Mamoru Miyano) admits to wanting to declare his love for her. The boys seek to deflect their obvious infatuations, falling over each other in embarrassment so that the other can win his prize regardless of how the object of their affection feels about either. So when the trio find themselves in the midst of a swimming race, fate decides for them. Norimichi hurts his foot, Yûsuke keeps his stride, and Nazuna’s victor impulsively asks the latter on a date simply because he surfaced first.
This ordeal sets the stage for directors Akiyuki Shimbô and Nobuyuki Takeuchi’s Fireworks, adapted by Hitoshi Ône from Shunji Iwai’s 1993 teleplay.

Some people go to the movies to escape their troubles, and for the most part, movies let them. It’s rare for a movie to seriously question whether or not escapism itself is healthy. Perhaps filmmakers aren’t exactly eager to bite the hand that feeds them.
The new anime romance “Fireworks” doesn’t chomp down hard on the audience’s digits either, but it does give our collective fantasies a pointed little nip.
Based on a live-action TV movie from 1993, “Fireworks” is a light foray into the wondrous. Masaki Suda voices Norimichi, a typical high schooler with a crush on his classmate, Nazuna (Suzu Hirose). Then again, Norimichi’s best friend Yusuke (Mamoru Miyano) has a crush on her too. It’s a romantically charged environment at their summer school, where the boys are so girl-crazy that even their teachers are uncomfortable.

Toho has released the first trailer for their Godzilla: Monster Planet anime film and it looks pretty freakin' awesome! This first trailer gives us a great tease of what this movie will entail and it's very different from anything we've ever seen from the Godzilla franchise! The story is set 20,000 years in the future and the planet Earth is ruled by Godzilla and other kaiju monsters and the humans want to take it back!
This film will be Toho's 30th Godzilla movie and I can't wait to see it! Here's the detailed synopsis:
The last summer of the 20th century. On that day, the human race realized that they were not the only ruler of the planet earth.
The emergence of gigantic monsters “kaiju” and the ultimate existence that even can destroy the kaijus, Godzilla. After half-century of the war against the kaijus, the human race repeatedly defeated and decided to escape from the earth.

Last year it was announced that Toho was developing a Godzilla anime film for Netflix. As a fan of anime and Godzilla, this is a project I'm really excited about. We now have some new information to share with you regarding the plot, and we have some new concept art thanks to CrunchyRoll.
The anime film will be called Godzilla: Monster Planet, and it will mark Toho's 30th Godzilla movie! This film is also going to tell a story unlike any other Godzilla story we've seen before as it's set 20,000 years in the future and the planet Earth is ruled by Godzilla and other monsters.
The film focuses on a character named Haruo, featured in the poster above, who returns to Earth after the human race leaves it at the turn of the 20th century after Godzilla and other Kaiju beasts rise up and drive them out. Haruo's parents were killed by Godzilla,...

After more than 50 years, the King of the Monsters is getting the anime treatment. Toho is producing their first-ever Godzilla anime film, which will be heading to Netflix later this year.
After years of inactivity, the Godzilla franchise has become very productive lately. 2014 gave us Gareth Edwards’ Godzilla, which will spawn a sequel Godzilla: King of the Monsters in 2019. A Japanese version by Toho called Shin Godzilla came out last year, winning Best Picture at the Japanese Academy Awards. And 2020 will give us the long-awaited crossover remake Godzilla vs. King Kong. On top of all that, we’re getting an anime film.
According to the site Bloody Disgusting, Netflix Japan announced the new animated film via Twitter. Co-Produced by Toho and Polygon Pictures. The film will be scripted by Gen Urobuchi and co-directed by Hiroyuki Seshita and Kôbun Shizuno, along with a voice actor cast including Yuuki Kaji, Takahiro Sakurai,...
