Directing a big blockbuster isn’t on Phoebe Waller-Bridge’s agenda just yet.
The “Indiana Jones and the Dial of Destiny” star is on the new cover of Vanity Fair, and in it she shuts down rumours that she’s in the running to helm the next James Bond movie.

“My mum sent me that rumour too,” she says of the tabloid reports, pointing out that so far in her career, the only thing she’s directed is a music video. “So the obvious leap is James Bond.“
Waller-Bridge has, of course, been involved in the Bond franchise, having co-written the script for Daniel Craig’s final outing as the iconic spy in “No Time to Die”.

Harrison Ford may say he’s done with Indiana Jones, but look out for Phoebe Waller-Bridge’s Helena Shaw, the archeologist’s goddaughter, who makes her debut in the franchise’s fifth title, Indiana Jones and the Dial of Destiny.
With a Disney+ Indiana Jones series planned and the notion that franchises never die many deaths, it stands to reason that Waller-Bridge is picking up the whip and the hat, right?
“First, I ever heard of it!” confessed the 3x Fleabag Emmy winner to Deadline tonight at the Disney premiere.
In the wake of the success of Amazon’s Fleabag, fans have been eagerly waiting for Waller-Bridge’s next big act on Prime Video. Amazon promptly signed her to a deal post Fleabag‘s Emmy wins. A new series was greenlit in March 2022 and set to shoot at the end of that year. Then in January she renewed her overall...

In 2019, after the second season of Phoebe Waller-Bridge’s smash hit dark comedy Fleabag closed to shimmering reviews, executives at Amazon thought: “We’d like a slice of that pie.”
And so, that September, just two days after Waller-Bridge scooped three Emmys for the show’s second run, it was announced that the British TV darling had signed a $20m-a-year deal with the company.
Waller-Bridge said she was “insanely excited” to get cracking. Head of Amazon Studios Jennifer Salke added: “As evident in her great success at the Emmy Awards this week, she is clever, brilliant, generous and a virtuoso on multiple fronts including writing, acting and producing”. The executive said: “We are excited for what comes next…”
Three years and $60m later, and not a lot has come next.
Waller-Bridge has certainly been very busy. The star, 37, has appeared in the BBC’s His Dark Materials and HBO’s Run.

Phoebe Waller-Bridge is currently developing a “Tomb Raider” series at Amazon, TheWrap has learned. The news comes a day after it was announced that the Emmy-winning “Fleabag” creator had re-upped her deal at the studio, where she is also readying the show “Sign Here,” based on Claudia Lux’s debut novel of the same name, and another untitled project that’s being kept under wraps.
Waller-Bridge is set to write for the series, not portray the archeologist-adventurer character of Lara Croft. Previous adaptations of the video game have seen the role played by Angelina Jolie (in the 2001 and 2003 films) and Alicia Vikander (in the 2018 iteration). Waller-Bridge will also serve as executive producer on the project along with Ryan Andolina and Amanda Greenblatt, who recently departed their roles as head of comedy and drama and head of overall deals, respectively, to form a production company that currently has a deal with Amazon.

After starring in the upcoming “Indiana Jones and the Dial of Destiny,” it looks like Phoebe Waller-Bridge has developed a taste for treasure hunting. The Emmy-winning “Fleabag” creator is reportedly developing a TV series adaptation of the popular “Tomb Raider” video game series for Amazon, The Hollywood Reporter reported January 27.
The project comes as part of Waller-Bridge’s overall deal with Amazon, which she renewed earlier this month. The renewal also came with the news that she was adapting the book “Sign Here” by Claudia Lux into a series. Waller-Bridge will write the in-development project but reportedly won’t star as gun-toting adventurer Lara Croft. She executive produces with Ryan Andolina and Amanda Greenblatt, former Amazon heads of comedy and drama and overall deals who launched their own studio but have an overall deal with Prime Video.
Amazon declined to comment on the news to IndieWire.

Phoebe Waller-Bridge is getting into action at Amazon.
The Emmy-winning Fleabag grad is readying a TV series based on the popular video game turned action movie Tomb Raider. The project, which is in the development stages, is the latest to stem from Waller-Bridge’s recently renewed overall deal with the retail giant and streamer.
Sources tell The Hollywood Reporter that Waller-Bridge is attached to write the scripts for Tomb Raider. Waller-Bridge does not plan to star in the TV adaptation of the property, which spawned 2001 and 2018 film adaptations starring Angelina Jolie and Alicia Vikander, respectively, as the adventurous archaeologist. The Lara Croft character was also voiced by actresses including Camilla Luddington, Keeley Hawes and Minnie Driver in a slew of video game titles. Hayley Atwell also brought the character to life in a Netflix anime series.

Prime Video will remain in the Phoebe Waller-Bridge business. The streaming home for Waller-Bridge's Emmy-winning series, "Fleabag," is eyeing a new series from her and novelist Claudia Lux based on Lux's debut novel, "Sign Here."
According to The Hollywood Reporter, Waller-Bridge has renewed her three-year deal with Amazon, which was set to expire this September. As part of the renewal, she and Lux are developing a TV adaptation of "Sign Here," which the book's publisher, Penguin Random House, describes as a "darkly humorous, utterly gripping debut novel about a guy who works in Hell (literally)." The protagonist, Peyote Trip, works "in the deals department on the fifth floor of Hell," where "the only drink on offer is Jägermeister." Though it might sound like a double entendre of the kind Fleabag might make, this feels like something that would be right up Waller-Bridge's alley.

Phoebe Waller-Bridge is adding another series to her Amazon overall deal with the adaptation of Claudia Lux’s novel Sign Here. Waller-Bridge will executive produce with Jenny Robbins through Wells Street Films, with Lux set to serve as co-writer and executive producer, according to Variety. Waller-Bridge’s overall deal with Amazon was recently renewed, so Sign Here will fall under the re-upped deal. (Credit: Prime Video) The official logline for the series reads as follows: “A darkly humorous, utterly gripping debut novel about a guy who works in Hell (literally). Peyote Trip has a pretty good gig in the deals department on the fifth floor of Hell. Sure, none of the pens work, the coffee machine has been out of order for a century, and the only drink on offer is Jägermeister, but it’s still Hell and after waiting a millennium he comes up with a plan that might...
