The Great Gatsby musical, the highest grossing show in Off-Broadway theater Paper Mill Playhouse’s history, will be coming to Broadway this spring.
The musical adaptation of F. Scott Fitzgerald’s acclaimed novel will debut at The Broadway Theatre on April 25, the show’s lead producer Chunsoo Shin announced on Tuesday. Directed by Marc Bruni, Jeremy Jordan and Eva Noblezada are set to reprise their Off-Broadway roles as Jay Gatsby and Daisy Buchanan, with previews beginning March 29.
“I am passionate about producing this show because it provides a modern audience with the true essence of idealism that is expressed eloquently in the novel and now on stage,” said Shin in a statement. “The Great Gatsby is a masterpiece that grows and changes as it’s experienced by each new generation, in every culture, and people — and yet, still maintains its uniqueness, with its fascinating characters that burst with vitality.

Rep. Dean Phillips (D-mn), who represents a suburban Minneapolis congressional district, launched a challenge to President Joe Biden for the Democratic nomination.
His announcement has been expected for weeks, as Phillips, 54, warns that Biden’s age and low approval mean that he very likely may lose to Donald Trump next year. Trump has a wide lead against the GOP field.
In an interview with CBS News’ Robert Costa on CBS Mornings, Phillips said that he thinks Biden has “done a spectacular job for our country, but it is not about the past. This is an election about the future.”
“I will not sit still, I will not be quiet in the face of numbers that are so clearly saying that we going to be facing an emergency next November,” he said.
In the interview and in his campaign video, Phillips said that now was the time to “pass the torch” to a new generation.

It was oddly devastating to learn that ITV’s kid’s channel Citv is to close on 1st September 2023. Many millennials and Gen Xers probably haven’t even seen a Citv show for two decades or more – besides, back in the day it wasn’t even a channel, but just a few after-school hours of programming on the regular ITV channel. So why does its closure leave us feeling like it’s the end of an era?
Because the memories of that era were so, so good, that’s why. We all remember getting home from school, grabbing a glass of squash and a Wagon Wheel and immediately flicking the TV on, and Citv (along with Cbbc – and Nickelodeon and the Disney Channel if you were well posh) kept us company until it was time to eat our spaghetti hoops and turkey twizzlers.

California rockers Rival Sons have announced that their second new album of 2023, Lightbringer, will arrive on October 20th. In advance of its release, the band has shared the lead single “Sweet Life.”
The album news comes in the midst of Rival Sons’ current North American tour supporting The Smashing Pumpkins (tickets available here). Lightbringer marks the follow-up and companion album to Rival Sons’ Darkfighter, which arrived on June 2nd of this year.
Regarding Lightbringer, guitarist Scott Holiday said in a press release, “When you do two albums back-to-back like this, there are a lot of things to think about. The first record has to pack enough of a punch and tell enough of a story for the second half to have an even bigger impact. We balanced them out with energy and meaning, but the follow-up always needed to deliver a bigger blow. I think Lightbringer provides this.”
Vocalist Jay Buchanan added,...

This is Day 94 of the WGA strike and Day 21 of the SAG-AFTRA strike
SAG-AFTRA president Fran Drescher joined striking actors and writers in New York on Thursday morning, telling picketers outside Paramount headquarters in Times Square that her union won’t agree to any deal with film and television studios that leaves members unable to make a living.
Two days after she testified about the strike at a New York City Council hearing, the Queens native rallied fellow union members with a promise to stay true to their demands once negotiations resume with the AMPTP.
“I’m so thrilled to see this level of enthusiasm and resolve and strength, and I promise you that we are not going to compromise,” The Nanny star said. “This is a seminal deal and there is no turning back. At some point you have to say we’ve had enough: We’re not going...

Cosmic horror seems to be having a bit of a moment in the last few years with productions such as Colour out of Space, Mandy, and Annihilation giving audiences feature-length thrills and the likes of Alex Fofonoff’s While Mortals Sleep and Ryan Mackfall’s Backwoods making waves in the short film world. The attraction to stories about the fear of the unknown is rife. This trend continues with Giles Buchanan’s short cliffside thriller Terror, which sees a lone survivor of a mountain climbing accident recall the supernatural occurrence that led to devastating consequences. Buchanan’s short is a terrific example of how editing can be used to maximise tension and it features some truly impressive alpine cinematography. As Terror embarks on its festival run, Dn joined Buchanan for a conversation where he reveals the challenging and lengthy process of getting the film made, talking about everything from preparing...

For critics attending the 76th Cannes Film Festival this week, Martin Scorsese's adaptation of David Grann's book "Killers of the Flower Moon" was among the hottest tickets in town. The latest film from the acclaimed director has been garnering headlines months ahead of its release, as the 206-minute epic is set to tell the real-life story of a series of murders on Osage Native American land in the 1920s.
Leonardo DiCaprio, Robert de Niro, and the ever-underrated "Certain Women" star Lily Gladstone all share the screen in a story about the greed and violence that erupt among white men when the Osage people strike oil in Oklahoma. Scorsese has revealed that his real-life meetings with Indigenous descendants of those murdered changed the way he wanted to frame the story, and he's also spoken about how the story reckons with genocide in the midst of a love story. In all,...

Writer/Director Scott Walker (The Frozen Ground) evokes the ’80s creature feature for his sophomore film, The Tank. A simple, self-contained premise serves as the foundation for a creature effects showcase. While unique creature design and effects by Weta Workshop make for a compelling centerpiece, the simplistic storytelling undermines it by undercutting the tension and stakes.
Ben (Matt Whelan) and his wife, Jules (Lucianne Buchanan), run a small but bustling pet shop that doubles as daughter Reia’s (Zara Nausbaum) playground. Jules’s extensive knowledge of animals might come in handy when Ben learns that he’s inherited coastal property that has sat uninhabited like a dark family secret for decades. As the family travels to the estate to investigate and explore Ben’s inheritance, they unwittingly wake a long-dormant threat that’s terrorized the land and Ben’s ancestors for generations.
As Ben descends to the cavernous underground water tank on the property,...
