Oops! Most Embarrassing Moments

25 August 2009 11:40 PM, PDT | PopStar | See recent PopStar news »

Let's face it, once or twice in our life we encounter an embarrassing moment that scars us and makes us want to hibernate just thinking about it. Whether it has been make-out fopas, wardrobe malfunctions, or pure clumsiness, we have all gone through it in some way or another. Personally, I have had more than my share of mishaps, but I figure laughter is the best medicine and I roll with it. Get ready to giggle as we scroll through some of our favorite celebrities' most embarrassing moments, but first stop is my living room, the scene of my most embarrassing moment. In all fairness, if we are poking fun at our favorite celebrities, we should be able to poke fun at ourselves. Like I said earlier, I have had a few and it has been difficult picking out the most embarrassing but I think I have cornered a good one. »

John Mayer Twitters Genius 'Ninth Year' Theory

27 July 2009 8:26 AM, PDT | MTV Newsroom | See recent MTV Newsroom news »

John Mayer made an observation that lead to an interesting exchange via the social networking site. Yesterday, the guitar giant tweeted, "Listening to the hits channel on Sirius. I will reserve criticism but say that every ninth year of a decade really brings the junk." He went on to point out that the charts in 1979, '89 and '99 are all relatively low-quality, and in the meantime, the "2" years ('82, '92 and 2002) all seem to produce greatness. Mayer uses the example of Warrant to throw 1989 under the bus, which is a brilliant strategy considering that their album Dirty Rotten Filthy Stinking Rich was not only gigantic but also represented the predominant trend of the era (that being hair metal). But is it a fair assessment of the decade? And how do those other years measure up?

Mayer is a little unfair to 1979, as the top singles from that year were a mix of disco tracks, »

The E.N.D. is clearly just the beginning for the Black Eyed Peas. Thanks to the speaker-shredding mega-smash "Boom Boom Pow," the group will take the top spot on the Billboard 200 chart next week with first-week sales of more than 304,000, according to figures provided by Nielsen SoundScan.

That is more than enough to dethrone last week's #1, the Dave Matthews Band's Big Whiskey & the Groogrux King, the sales of which plummeted by 70 percent to 128,000. At #3, Eminem's Relapse also saw another steep decline (38 percent) to 87,000 units moved, but the album managed to surpass the platinum sales mark in its first month. Showing remarkably strong hang-time, the all-star debut from Chickenfoot — featuring ex-Van Halen members Michael Anthony and Sammy Hagar, Red Hot Chili Peppers drummer »

The biggest new release this week comes from Black Eyed Peas, whose "Boom Boom Pow" coninues to dominated charts and the radio. A couple British acts -- Freeland and Kasabian -- have new efforts, as does rising newcomer Dirty Projectors. Peter Holsapple and Chris Stamey have their first collaboration in 20 years. We kick off with Black Eyed Peas' "The E.N.D." Despite the somewhat foreboding CD title, the band insists the... »

Street Fighter: The Legend of Chun-Li Review

2 March 2009 10:27 PM, PST | newsinfilm.com | See recent newsinfilm news »

If you’re expecting Street Fighter: The Legend of Chun-Li to be bad, you haven’t set your expectations low enough.  I’d rather take a roundhouse kick to the face than watch this movie again.  There’s nothing legendary about The Legend of Chun-Li, it’s just a laughably awful waste of time invoking the name of a beloved video game series.

When you play the game in the arcade, you pump quarters in to continue.  When I was watching this movie, I wished I could put money in to make it stop.  In the scoreless genre of video game adaptations, this movie is among the worst of the worst.  Director Andrzej Bartkowiak seems to be carving a niche for himself in the world of bottom-feeding action after this, another good game ruined by Doom, and the unquestionably bad Exit Wounds starring Dmx.  Even repeat video game offender Uwe Boll could have done better. »

"Street Fighter: The Legend of Chun-Li" is yet to be a blockbuster hit or a box office flop, but most of the cast have expressed their willingness to return for a sequel. In an interview asking about whether or not they will come back for a second movie, stars from Kristin Kreuk to Black Eyed Peas' Taboo were quick to give thumbs up for the sequel.

"I totally would love to go in there and work on some more skills," Kreuk, the actress who plays Chun-Li said of possible sequel. "I loved training; it was so much fun." Showing similar interest, Balrog's depicter Michael Clarke Duncan went straight saying, "Absolutely," adding that people want to see the same actor for a sequel. "Because once you see a movie with these characters, you don' t want to see any other actors but them playing those characters. It's kinda hard to »

Four Clips of 'Street Fighter: The Legend of Chun-Li' Come Out

18 February 2009 12:15 AM, PST | Aceshowbiz | See recent Aceshowbiz news »

Counting down to the theatrical release of "Street Fighter: The Legend of Chun-Li", four new clips from the live-action adaptation have been unveiled. With the running time varying from 46 seconds to one minute, the clips expose both the action sequences as well as bits of the storyline.

The "Daddy's Little Girl" and "Vega" clips feature Kristin Kreuk's Chun-Li getting involved in two different fighting scenes. In "Daddy's Little Girl", Chun-Li battles Josie Ho's Cantana in a bathroom to get information about the White Rose, whereas in "Vega", she fights Taboo's Vega in a dark street, kicking off his mask and locking him down with her feet.

The two other clips, "Guardian Angel" and "Ticket to This Dance", turn the focus on Chris Klein's Charlie Nash. The "Guardian Angel" clip displays the scene where he finds a bomb right before it explodes and saves Chun-Li from being shot to death, »

Four 'Street Fighter' clips fail to impress

17 February 2009 4:00 PM, PST | screeninglog.com | See recent screeninglog news »

So, are you ready for another round of "Street Fighter" on the big screen? I am so Not!

Four brand-new clips from Andrzej Bartkowiak's upcoming "Street Fighter: The Legend of Chun-Li" just debuted online, and you can check them out below.

Sure, the footage includes plenty of action, but none of it is in any impressive. What we do get is plenty of "ughs," "arghs" and a bunch of terrible dialogue.

Based on the popular video game series, the film follows female fighter Chun-Li on her quest for justice. Kristin Kreuk, Michael Clarke Duncan, Taboo and Moon Bloodgood star. Neal McDonough plays Bison.

"Chun Li" will open Feb. 27, and I'm kind of dreading the flick already. Sure, I'll give it a fair chance, but what I've seen so far doesn't impress me a bit. Maybe you care more about this film? Let me know. »
