Acclaimed director James Cameron, who released his massive box office hit ‘Avatar 2: The Way of Water’ in 2022, will now be executive producing a new Maori centric drama film called ‘Taonga’, by new comer director Shane Rangi. Shane, while new to direction, is no stranger to filmmaking as such, having worked with Jameson production and writing of his ‘Avatar’ films.
Shane has written the script for the feature and will also be directing it
Drawing on his own life, Shane, who is of Ngati Porou descent, wrote ‘Taonga’ to tell the story of an indigenous Polynesian rugby star who ends up becoming homeless; before a violent encounter with law enforcement leaves him for dead and changes his life.
The story aims to navigate the realities of homelessness and modern-day policing, as per The Hollywood Reporter.
Many of these things were in fact a reality for Shane himself, a lifetime ago...

Avatar filmmaker James Cameron will executive produce Taonga, a Maori-centric drama from actor and first-time director Shane Rangi.
Rangi, who worked with Cameron on the Avatar movies, which were shot in New Zealand, wrote the script and will direct the feature that has the backing of Fandomodo Films, a boutique development, production and financing company that seeks to raise underrepresented voices.

Many of those realities were a lifetime ago for Rangi, who managed to drag himself out of those dire straits to become an actor and stunt performer on major Hollywood productions that shot in that part of the world.

'Chronicles Of Narnia 3' movie delivered great action & special effects. Fox in association with Walden Media released their new action, adventure flick "Chronicles Of Narnia 3: The Voyage Of The Dawn Treader" into theaters this weekend. I just watched it,and it delivered some pretty good action and special effects, especially towards the end. The movie stars: Georgie Henley, Skandar Keynes, Ben Barnes, Will Poulter, Gary Sweet, Bruce Spence, Arthur Angel, Shane Rangi, and Liam Neeson. "Chronicles of Narnia 3: The Voyage Of The Dawn Treader" revolved around characters Lucy,Edmond, and Eustace as they took another trip back to Narnia. This time they entered Narnia through a painting that became real and swallowed them in via lots of water. Eustace was their pesky cousin who had never visited Narnia before,so he passed at first. It was pretty funny.

Well, you’ll get the opportunity in The Chronicles of Narnia: The Voyage of the Dawn Treader - kind of. The the first production blog for "The Chronicles of Narnia: The Voyage of the Dawn Treader" is now online via the official Facebook page.
Here is an excerpt from the entry:
The third book in C.S. Lewis’ series begins when the two youngest Pevensies, along with their irritating cousin Eustace, are swallowed into a bedroom wall painting, which depicts a ship sailing on the high seas.
To create the effect of the bedroom flooding with water, the production’s mechanical SFX crew, under the direction of veteran movie magician Brian Cox, and working with Barry Robison’s and Ian Gracie’s crack art department and construction crew, duplicated the sound stage bedroom set on an elevated platform which was then dunked into the smaller of Warner Roadshow’s two exterior studio water tanks. The three actors were then instructed to swim out of the bedroom door and windows to the surface.
