But Hampton, who is also a producer on the show, says (Before SAG/Afytra strike) the show’s plots — about a woman who is an expert at finding missing persons after having once been a kidnapping victim herself — are just part of the reason why viewers are going to want to watch every week. It’s not unusual for an actor to land a role in a superhero project that eventually launches them into stardom. However, it’s a different pair of shoes for actors specializing only in voice acting. Voice actors are committed to portraying their roles without revealing their faces, and despite their enormous talent, it can be pretty hard for a voice actor to reach the level of fame of Hollywood’s most prominent stars.
However, some actors gained their celebrity status precisely through voice roles. The best example is probably Kevin Conroy, the legendary Batman voice actor who portrayed the character in DC Animated Universe and Rocksteady’s ‘Batman: Arkham’ trilogy. Another example is Troy Baker, who is known for portraying numerous video game characters, including Batman and Joker. After these two, the best example that crosses our mind is Yuri Lowenthal, who is best known for portraying Peter-Parker/Spider-Man in Insomniac Games’ ‘Spider-Man’ franchise.

In the opening moments of the chilling new drama Found, a desperate, scantily clad Gabi Mosely (Shameless’ Shanola Hampton) bangs on a metal door asking the man who answers for help. Once inside, it’s clear she’s no damsel in distress: She delivers a right hook to the man and quickly reunites the young boy he’s kidnapped with his grateful parents. All in a day’s work. “Gabi and her team look for the missing people that the rest of the world seem to not care about,” explains executive producer Nkechi Okoro Carroll. “Gabi finds the ones who have slipped through the cracks and fights to bring them home.” (Credit: Matt Miller/NBC) A public relations specialist privately hired in missing-persons cases (and often at least one step ahead of the police), Gabi also brings a very personal skill set to her crisis management work. “Gabi is a...

NBC revealed its fall 2023-24 TV schedule on Friday ahead of its Monday upfront event. The broadcast channel’s lineup was in no way impacted by the WGA strike, NBCUniversal’s president of program planning Jeff Bader told IndieWire.
Bader said what he put out today is “the exact same schedule” that NBC would have unveiled if the WGA and AMPTP came to terms earlier this month. “The schedule was actually done before we knew whether or not the strike was going to happen,” he said during a telephone interview.
It helps that the schedule is, in Bader’s words, “very stable” with last year’s lineup. That will be NBC’s main talking point Monday when the network pushes its programming on advertisers and tries to ignore the Linda Yaccarino- and Jeff Shell-sized elephants in their Radio City Music Hall room.

Hard to fathom that one of the most anticipated indie films for 2015 (and potential Sundance entry) is one that features a former soap stars (Wendy Moniz and Trevor St. John) and actress/former SNLer Rachel Dratch (see set pic). Part of breed of folk (Drew Tobia, Nathan Silver, Joel Potrykus, Mark Jackson) who are being noticed for their micro-budgeted contributions to the American indie film landscape, is filmmaker Patrick Wang. He unassumingly made ripples into waves with the In the Family, a four-star film that initially got rejected by the top tier fests, but lathered up terrific word-of-mouth support from influencers. Reading like an Ingmar Bergman portrait, The Grief of Others commenced shooting this past April in an inner-suburb located in New York City.
