Westworld Season 4 Episode 4
I freely admit, I’m a mark for all of the twisting and turning plot lines happening on Westworld. Since the very first episode of the show, the more chronological twists and turns, the more diverging plots, the more surprising Host reveals, the better. I’m fully on board for wherever this thing is going, and I just want to see how it gets there no matter how circuitous and maze-like the route becomes. “Generation Loss” certainly lives up to the maze-like qualities of the first season.
Of course, at this point in Westworld‘s run, you almost have to expect some kind of time line shenanigans, right? Certainly, there were clues there, but exactly how things were going to shake out at the halfway point of the fourth season were still kind of a mystery, at least to me. I’m...

Westworld Season 4 Episode 3
Westworld is a very clever show. At times, it might be too clever for its own good, but although it can sometimes be difficult to follow the narrative, you always feel the writers have given every moment and twist serious thought. Nowhere is that more apparent than “Annees Folles.” In two very crucial ways, the episode marks a return to familiar environments: Bernard emerges from the Sublime with a new mission, and Maeve finds herself essentially back where it all began in the first season, albeit with slightly different window dressing.
I tend to really like when two plots mirror one another structurally, and Bernard’s emergence into the real world and Maeve’s return to a Delos theme park really scratch that itch for me. It’s fun to watch the two of them as parallels, both armed with the knowledge...

Exclusive: Queer advocacy group Out in Hollywood released its second annual list of the best unproduced queer-focused television pilot scripts of the past year.
The 2022 Out Loud List was selected from among hundreds of nominations submitted from across the industry and evaluated based on criteria including the strength of the writer’s voice, viability of the project to be sold in today’s marketplace, and conceptual freshness. A group of readers (including proudly out network/studio execs and producers) helped narrow down the list, which was then curated by Out in Hollywood’s board of directors.
“As challenges continue to present themselves against fundamental rights in our country and abroad, it’s more important than ever to continue championing marginalized voices,” says Logan Kriete, founder of the organization. “Lack of representation and advancement of our basic humanity becomes a self-fulfilling prophecy when we don’t tell these stories, and it...

[Editor’s Note: The following review contains spoilers for “Westworld” Season 3, Episode 6, “Decoherence.”]
An eye-rolling tease and a sigh of relief define Episode 6, “Decoherence” — a drawn-out hour of due diligence on behalf of writers Suzanne Wrubel and Lisa Joy, where characters do what they must to set up what’s next while slogging through the pedestrian tasks of the present. Maeve (Thandie Newton) is resurrected, as we all knew she would be; William (Ed Harris) sorts his demons and is set free; Charlotte/Dolores 2.0, meanwhile, gets the most development and the most to do — obeying Dolores Prime’s directives by saving Delos’ designs from its new owner, Serac (Vincent Cassel) while still committing to the family she shouldn’t care about, only to lose them anyway — and Tessa Thompson again makes the most of it.

Every year, film executive Franklin Leonard releases his list, called The Black List, of most-liked unproduced screenplays in Hollywood. This year's list was compiled from the suggestions of 290 film executives, each of whom picked up to ten of their favorite scripts. Since the list started in 2004, many screenplays ended up being turned into films. In 2005, two of the top three scripts were "Lars and the Real Girl" which was nominated for Best Original Screenplay Oscar, and "Juno" which actually won the Oscar. See the 2012 Black List below, broken up by how many votes each screenplay received. Some of the projects are already in the works. 65 - Draft Day (Rajiv Joseph, Scott Rothman) On the day of the NFL Draft, Bills General Manager Sonny Weaver has the opportunity to save football in Buffalo when he trades for the number one pick. He must quickly decide what he's willing to sacrifice in...

There is either a couple of football fans or Jerry Maguire/Moneyball with this year’s most liked unproduced screenplay. Close to 300 hundred film executives provided with the Black List creators a top ten of their favorite screenplays of the year and the consensus first overall pick (with 65 votes) comes from the recently featured in Variety (10 Screenwriters to Watch 2012) tandem of Rajiv Joseph & Scott Rothman and their drama which has nothing to do with enlisting in the armed forces. Draft Day – about the day in the life of a fictitious Buffalo Bills Gm appears to currently be in turnaround — which only means I expect to see this greenlight perhaps a little later than sooner – worth noting: top spot almost guarantees that the film will indeed go into production (2006, 2010 and 2011 are the exceptions.) Among the more alluring logline subjects we find on the list, I’d be keen on reading the...
