Apple is not moving forward with another season of “Central Park,” Variety has confirmed.
Previously, series star Josh Gad, who also serves as EP and writer, shared the news over the weekend on social media, telling fans “Sadly, it’s done” when asked about the show’s return.
The animated comedy follows “Owen Tillerman and his family live an unconventional life in New York’s bustling Central Park, which Owen manages; now, they’ll have to fend off a wealthy hotel heiress who wants to turn the park into condos,” per the series description.
Season 3, which was released on Sept. 9, picked up with Kristen Bell in a new role on the show. Bitsy continued her pursuit to buy the park as Owen took on a new promotional campaign to make more people fall in love with it. Meanwhile, Paige wound up busier than ever after landing her first book deal.

In the sixth episode of “Central Park” Season 2, the story is broken up into two plots. The first focuses on a robbery at the Brandenham Hotel, owned by Bitsy Brandenham (Stanley Tucci), that may or may not mark the return of a notorious, decades-retired burglar known only as The Shadow. Worried about her hotel’s reputation, Bitsy hounds the police and an insurance investigator (voiced by Henry Winkler) to solve the case without invoking the legendary thief’s name. The episode’s second story stars the series’ narrator, Birdie (Josh Gad), as he fruitlessly busks in the park. Facing children’s mockery and adult indifference, he wonders if his music is even worth hearing, until an old woman and her caretaker stop by just for him.
“Sometimes when just one person notices you, it makes all the difference,” Birdie says to introduce his part of the episode, speaking the last...

The trailer for “Central Park” season 2 has finally arrived and it promises even more embarrassing adolescent moments, family bonding and Bitsy scheming than in the first season.
While the Tillerman family navigates life in Central Park, Bitsy, voiced by Stanley Tucci, inches even closer to her plan to buy Central Park and turn the Tillerman’s humble home into a real estate developer’s dream of condominiums, restaurants and shops.
After a city-wide blackout — potentially masterminded by Bitsy — forces the Tillerman family to gather in the candlelight, Bitsy reveals her plans to buy Central Park for the world to see. Daveed Diggs returns as Helen, who continues to assist Bitsy in the hopes that she will finally be added to the heiress’ will. Regardless of Bitsy’s evil plans, the Tillerman family always manages to find their way back together and of course, take part in some catchy musical numbers.

The Umbrella Academy star Emmy Raver-Lampman has joined Apple’s animated series Central Park in a recasting for the role of Molly Tillerman, the mixed-race character originally voiced by Kristen Bell. The announcement comes ahead of tonight’s Central Park season one finale.
In June, Bell and the show’s creative team mutually decided that Bell would step back from the role, releasing a statement which said that “casting of the character of Molly is an opportunity to get representation right – to cast a Black or mixed race actress and give Molly a voice that resonates with all of the nuance and experiences of the character as we’ve drawn her.”
Bell’s exit from the role came amid the racial reckoning occurring in Hollywood and around the world following the death of George Floyd at the hands of Minneapolis police.

Going from “Bob’s Burgers” to “Central Park” was a great fit for Loren Bouchard. Drawn to both family stories and songs, it became a natural progression to embrace a Broadway-style animated musical, with co-creator Josh Gad, devoted to the community within Manhattan’s beloved park. The Apple TV+ series thus contains a sense of spectacle and diversity that work well in animation.
“A musical felt like a natural next step for us, and I’m an old fart so talking about trees and flowers and public space also appealed,” Bouchard said. “The epic scope of it sort of emerged and evolved as we were working on it. We like telling stories about underdogs who find themselves in a position to save their world. But with Central Park, that world is pretty big — so the scale keeps creeping up.”

Kristen Bell will no longer voice Molly, a mixed-race character on Apple TV+’s animated musical comedy series Central Park. Bell, who called playing Molly “act of complicity” that “shows a lack of awareness of my pervasive privilege,” will remain on the 20th Century Fox TV-produced show, playing a new character.
Netflix’s animated comedy Big Mouth made a similar change today, with Jenny Slate exiting the cast where she voices Missy, a biracial girl. The role will be recast with a Black actor. Both decisions had been in the works for a while.

To say “Central Park” marks Loren Bouchard’s first foray into animated musicals would be almost as misleading as saying it’s his first foray into animated comedies. The Emmy-winning creator of “Bob’s Burgers” (and co-creator of the cult classic “Home Movies”) has been blending genres for over a decade on his hit Fox sitcom, asking the Belcher family to sing, dance, scare, play games, soap up some operas, and more. “Bob’s Burgers” is a boundless engine for creativity, in part, because its episodic structure allows for constant reinvention, but also because it’s premise is so simple.
“Central Park” is both a more focused and a more ambitious series. Though similarities in animation styles, senses of humor, and family dynamics evoke immediate comparisons between the Apple TV+ original series and its broadcast predecessor, Bouchard’s latest leans on a more serialized narrative about a park manager trying to protect...

Apple has unveiled the trailer for “Central Park,” its upcoming animated musical comedy that will premiere on Apple TV+ on May 29.
“Central Park,” which was co-created by “Bob’s Burgers” duo Loren Bouchard and Nora Smith as well as Josh Gad, centers on the Tillerman family, who live in and manage Central Park. Owen, the park manager, and Paige, his journalist wife, raise their kids Molly and Cole in the world’s most famous park while fending off hotel heiress Bitsy Brandenham and her long-suffering assistant Helen, who would love nothing more than to turn the park into condos.
The series revolves around the Tillermans and their efforts to maintain the park from the machinations of Bitsy, who wears a dog and promises to “knock those bozos’ weiners off” in the series’ trailer. As soon as we thought we could predict the outcome of the Oscars, here comes another surprise! This one's brought to you by the Writers Guild of America. Picked for Best Original Screenplay was Christopher Nolan's "Inception." The director, famously dissed for not getting a Best Director Oscar nomination, may just win the Best Original Screenplay come Oscar night. Oscar front-runner, "The King's Speech" was not nominated because it didn't quality under union rules which prompted Nolan to say during his WGA acceptance award that he looked forward to a time when he could accept the award "without qualification."

As hard as it may be to believe sometimes, someone (or someones) actually sits down and writes a movie or TV show before you end up seeing it at your local multiplex or on your favorite TV network. The people who do the sitting and the writing are, surprisingly, called writers and, like the Directors, the Golden Globes and the Oscars, they have their own awards show.
This week, the Writers Guild of America, which is the trade group and advocate for writers, announced its nominations for outstanding achievement in feature film and television, radio, news, promotional writing, and graphic animation during the 2009 season to be honored at the upcoming 2010 Writers Guild Awards on February 20, 2010, in Los Angeles and New York.
We realize that these nominations may not be as glamorous as the Golden Globes or the Oscars, but we kinda like writers around here and think they do a pretty important job.

Awards heavyweights "Mad Men," "30 Rock" and "The Office" and buzzed-about newcomer "Modern Family" led the TV field for the 2010 Writers Guild Awards with three nominations each.
AMC's "Mad Men" and NBC's "30 Rock" and "The Office" are in the running for best drama/comedy series, and each received two nominations for episodic writing. "Family" made the cut for best comedy series, best new series and best episodic writing for a comedy series.
ABC's "Family" was one of two new shows to break into the best series categories along with Fox's quirky high-school dramedy "Glee," which faces "Family" in the best comedy series and best new series fields.
While the WGA Awards are still in its nomination phase, Fox's "The Simpsons" can already uncork the champagne. The veteran series is assured to win the animation category after landing all five nomination slots.
