I've got a phat 1980s set comedy short for you to check out called "Green Eyed." The film comes from director Nathaniel Lindsay, and the story is set in the Summer of 1980. It follows a successful yuppie who "faces an existential crisis when a nosferatic ghoul joins his social circle and undermines his social status." The movie is radically bizarre and entertaining. It also has a very stylish and classic 80s feel to it. I should point out that the humor is dry, like the kind of stuff you might see in a Wes Anderson film. It takes a certain kind of person to find the humor in a movie like this funny, so I know it's not for everybody. But at least give it a shot, because it's pretty great. I really enjoyed it. Thanks to the director for sending this in to me!

"Why is he still here?!" Another great short film to feature for your viewing pleasure, this one a comedy from writer/director Nathaniel Lindsay. This first premiered at Fantastic Fest last year and after playing at festivals for a while, it has finally hit the web and can be viewed for free in full below. Titled Green Eyed, the short film (via Short of the Week) is about a successful yuppie whose life is turned upside down when a "Nosferatic ghoul" starts showing up at his parties. I really dig the score (which kind of reminds me of The Guest, same 80's vibe) and the make-up work is cool, but it does run a little long for a rather simple concept. That said, I laughed quite a bit at this, solid execution overall. Nice work. Have fun, my friends! Short synopsis from Vimeo: In the Summer of 1980 a successful yuppie...

A stellar little gem of a short that turned up at Fantastic Fest a couple editions back as part of a lengthy festival run, Nathaniel Lindsay's Green Eyed has finally arrived online in its entirety. Yep, the keen eyed among you will have already recognized Mark Leonard Winter on the left side of that image above - he's done a ton of 'serious' stuff but we mostly love him for being daft enough to star in Cop Hard - as he has a little stare down with the monstrous Philippe. In the Summer of 1980 a successful yuppie faces an existential crisis when a nosferatic ghoul joins his social circle and undermines his social status.Take a look at the short below!...

The 6th annual Minneapolis Underground Film Festival makes its move into October this year where it will be screening on Oct. 3-6 at the St. Anthony Main Theater. The fest, while screening new films from all over, does a fantastic job of screening movies by local Minnesota filmmakers.
Some of these locally produced films include Mark Nielson’s spooky road trip flick Land of Sky Blue Water; Adam Jacobs’ suspense comedy Weekend Hat, which was also produced entirely by high school students; Dave Ash’s sci-fi drama Connected, which is co-directed by Paul von Stoetzel, whose short film Twisted Sister screens before the feature; Donny West’s autobiographical documentary Dazzle (The Donny West Story); and Phil Holbrook’s drama Tilt. There are also loads of short film programs featuring work by local filmmakers.

The features that make their premiere at Fantastic Fest tend to get much of the attention, but don’t forget that you’re likely to see some great short films at the event as well. Fantastic Fest is known for their extensive short film selection and this year is no different:
“Fantastic Fest is excited to announce the short film lineup for the ninth edition of Fantastic Fest, happening September 19th- 26th in Austin, Texas at Alamo Drafthouse Lakeline. Short films provide an outlet for filmmakers to showcase their genre talents in a format with fewer restraints, making them a Fantastic Fest favorite. Fantastic Fest is wildly excited that longtime festival comrade Kier-la Janisse is now our lead shorts programmer. Kier-la created the notorious CineMuerte Film Festival in Canada, and was the first full-time film programmer for the Alamo back in the “wild west” days. She has since gone on...
