- Additional Crew
Angela (she/they) writes action-adventure stories soaked in magic that center on themes of found family and beating the odds. Inspiration comes from Angela's own impossible odds of surviving chronic homelessness as a teen. Angela is now on the board of directors for School on Wheels, an LA-based nonprofit that supports K-12 students experiencing homelessness. In 2018, the Los Angeles Times featured their children's book, Scruffy and the Egg, which tackles topics of single-parenthood and homelessness.
Angela got their start in the industry serving as a Program Coordinator for LatinX in Animation. Now a two-time Finalist in ScreenCraft's Animation Competition (2020 and 2022), Angela's work has also placed as a semi-finalist in Creative Screenwriting's animation competition (2021).
Beyond animation, Angela's writing has also appeared in the Los Angeles Review of Books (2018, 2020), Solrad (2020-2022), LAist (2019), and The Hechinger Report (2019). They have also been interviewed for the New York Times (2019), NBC News (2014, 2019), LA Weekly (2016), La Opinión (2016), KPCC Radio (2019), and Upworthy (2017).
