It has to be pretty bizarre working on the Prime Video series "The Boys" sometimes, especially when some of the weirder, grosser Supes come into play. There are Supes with scales, Supes with strange skin, and then, there's The Deep's gills. The Deep, played by Chace Crawford, is a riff on DC's Aquaman, and as a part of his powers, he has large gills on his abdomen that allow him to breathe underwater. Usually, we don't see the gills because he's dressed or in costume, and he's pretty shy about them, but there have been a few moments where The Deep's unique stomach appendages are on display, and they're freaky. They're apparently even pretty freaky when they're not attached to The Deep, as fellow star Laz Alonso discovered when he stumbled upon the prosthetics Crawford wears and curiosity got the better of him.

While the first season finale of Amazon Studio’s Gen V might have a divisive impact on the fans—on the one hand, some consider it to be bonkers, a gratifying end in sync with the universe’s subversive take on caped crusaders, while others consider it predictable, edgy fan service—there’s no denying the fact that it serves the primary purpose of world-building pretty well. There being a two-year gap between the third and upcoming fourth seasons of The Boys, the showrunners needed a filler series to expand the universe, and Gen V successfully did that by venturing deep into the rabbit hole of supe and anti-supe conspiracies.
Throughout the first season, Gen V left a trail of proverbial breadcrumbs of clues to explore the connection with The Boys, which ranged from cameos to clever plot twists. Some of these additions, like Soldier Boy’s cameo or the...

As gory as "The Boys" has been over the years, the most haunting moment in the series is not a moment of violence. As bad as Robin's death was, or as gross as it was to see poor Deep eat his octopus friend, the most disturbing moment might actually be the early season 2 episode where Homelander (Antony Starr) drinks a bottle of milk. It's not just any milk, mind you: It's the recently-thawed breast milk of his recently-deceased lover, Miss Madelyn Stillwell.
But that's still not enough context. To understand the full depravity of this scene, you must also know that Stillwell and Homelander had a bizarre mother/son sexual dynamic throughout season 1, and Homelander spent several episodes jealous of Stillwell's baby, who she was breastfeeding regularly. It's only armed with that information that we can understand just how weird it is to see a horny Homelander warm up Stillwell's...

Luigi Comenicini’s The Sunday Woman makes for an intriguing blend of police procedural and comedy of manners. It isn’t really a giallo, despite an investigation into a bizarre murder that fuels further misdeeds. As a satire of Turin’s upper classes, it isn’t nearly as trenchant, let alone grim, as other examples of commedia all’italiana like Dino Risi’s Il Sorpasso or Pietro Germi’s Seduced and Abandoned, though it does share their preoccupation with character types that border on the grotesque. Taken on its own terms, the film is absorbing, frequently amusing, and exceedingly well directed by Comencini, who keeps things moving with admirably brisk efficiency.

Bengaluru, April 2 (Ians) Scintillating half-centuries from Faf du Plessis and Virat Kohli powered Royal Challengers Bangalore (Rcb) to a thumping eight-wicket victory over Mumbai Indians in an Ipl 2023 match, marking a happy homecoming at the M Chinnaswamy Stadium, here on Sunday.
As Rcb took the field in Chinnaswamy Stadium after 1247 days, chants of the franchise engulfed the whole arena. To their credit, Rcb didn’t disappoint at all, as bowlers got wickets in power-play and middle overs to keep Mumbai to 171/7, though young Tilak Varma shined with an outstanding 84 not out off just 46 balls.
In reply, du Plessis and Kohli put out an exhibition of majestic strokeplay and rattled Mumbai’s bowling attack to enthrall home fans. While du Plessis made 73 off 43 balls, including five fours and six sixes, Kohli was in sublime touch to be 82 not out off 49 balls, laced with six fours and five sixes to chase 172 in...

Bengaluru, April 2 (Ians) Young left-handed batter Tilak Varma smashed an unbeaten 84 off just 46 balls to steer Mumbai Indians to 171/7 against Royal Challengers Bangalore in an Ipl 2023 match at the M Chinnaswamy Stadium, here on Sunday.
Pushed into batting first, Mumbai crumbled to 48/4 and then to 123/7 at one stage, looking in danger of being shot out for a below-par total. But Varma stood tall and impressed everyone with his skill and temperament in hitting nine boundaries and four sixes at a strike-rate of 182.6, as Mumbai got 69 runs from the last five overs.
Ishan Kishan gave Mumbai a nice start by slamming Reece Topley twice through cover for a brace of boundaries. But Kishan fell in the third over, as his attempt to flick off Mohammed Siraj took a fat leading edge to short third man.

Speaking to Ians, Parnell, who is playing for Northern Warriors in Abu Dhabi T10, said the Indian bowling department has a great mix of youth and experience.
"I believe that India have good bowling strength. Jasprit Bumrah is there also, they have Bhubaneshwar Kumar with them. Arshdeep Singh could lead the Indian pace attack in the future as he has the potential to do well and his bowling has a different class," said the all-rounder.
Asked about his views on Umran Malik, Parnell said, "Umran has pace but pace alone won’t help him when he faces the best of the cricketers in international cricket. He must work on variations. That’ll help."
Earlier during the New Zealand series, India’s left-arm pacer Arshdeep had acknowledged his bowling partner Umran Malik makes things easy for him and both enjoy each other’s company on and off the field.

Christchurch, Nov 30 (Ians) Former India head coach Ravi Shastri praised young New Zealand opener Finn Allen for capitalising on the loose deliveries from the visitors’ bowling attack after taking time to settle at the crease in the abandoned third Odi at Hagley Oval.
Allen, an ultra-aggressive right-handed opener, was quiet for the first three overs in New Zealand’s chase of 220. But after that, he couldn’t be kept quiet, clipping a down leg delivery from Arshdeep Singh for his first boundary of the match.
After that, there was no stopping Allen in getting boundaries and he got his fifty when he flat-batted a six over long-off off Washington Sundar. After pulling Umran Malik through fine leg in the 17th over, Allen tried to reach out to a short ball.
But he toe-ended a cut to cover, ending the 97-run opening partnership as he fell for 57 off 54 balls, his fourth fifty in the 50-over format.

Christchurch, Nov 30 (Ians) Finn Allen and Devon Conway had a 97-run opening stand to get New Zealand’s chase of 220 against India start on a bright note. Pacer Umran Malik broke it by taking out Allen, but rain forced the third and final Odi between India and New Zealand at Hagley Oval on Wednesday to be called off.
When rain arrived, New Zealand were at 104/1 in 18 overs and Dls calculations showed that they were ahead by 50 runs. But to constitute a full match, 20 overs were needed to be completed in the second innings. But with rain washing out the prospect of playing out the remaining two overs for a result, New Zealand clinched the series 1-0 ahead.

Christchurch, Nov 30 (Ians) After rain wiped out their chances of levelling the Odi series at Hagley Oval in Christchurch, India skipper Shikhar Dhawan felt that the visitors’ bowling attack had bowled more short balls than desired in the three-match tourney.
The no-result on Wednesday resulted in India losing the series 1-0, with the seven-wicket loss in the Odi series opener at Auckland turning out to be the only game of the series. India came in with a young bowling attack in Umran Malik, Arshdeep Singh, Deepak Chahar, Shardul Thakur and Washington Sundar, with Yuzvendra Chahal being the only experienced campaigner.
“We are a young unit. For sure, the bowling unit must have learnt about bowling the good length area a bit more. I felt that we bowled a bit on the shorter side. They also have to get a bit more consistent in bowling bit more up and using the bounce more.

New Delhi, Nov 28 (Ians) Australia fast-bowling great Brett Lee wants India skipper Rohit Sharma and head coach Rahul Dravid to take the responsibility of shielding left-arm fast-bowler Arshdeep Singh from the overdose of advice that a young cricketer gets after succeeding initially at the international level.
Arshdeep has been the find for India in T20Is this year, stepping up admirably in Jasprit Bumrah’s absence to pick ten wickets in the Men’s T20 World Cup in Australia. Since his T20I debut against England in July this year, he has picked 33 wickets in 21 matches at an average of 18.12 and an economy rate of 8.17.
Though he didn’t have a memorable Odi debut in the first match against New Zealand in Auckland, his ability to nail yorkers and be calm in high-pressure situations have earned Arshdeep plaudits from all corners.

Guwahati, Oct 3 (Ians) Charismatic India batter Suryakumar Yadav might have missed out on the ‘Man of the Match’ award but his 61-run effort off just 22 balls against South Africa earned him several records in the series-clinching second T20 International at the Barsapara Cricket Stadium here on Sunday night.
Suryakumar completed an 18-ball half-century, the joint-second-fastest for India in the format to push India in the middle and end overs. Yuvraj Singh still holds the record for his 12-ball fifty in the inaugural Icc T20 World Cup in 2007. Surya equalled Kl Rahul’s feat to get to a brilliant fifty.
India set up a mammoth 237/3 in 20 overs in the second T20I of the three-match series and then restricted the Proteas to 221/3 to emerge victorious by 16 runs and take an unassailable 2-0 lead in the series.

Guwahati, Oct 2 (Ians) David Miller hit a whirlwind second T20I century, but it went in vain as India clinched their first-ever T20I series win at home over South Africa with a 16-run victory in the second T20I at Barsapara Cricket Stadium in Guwahati on Sunday.
After the collective batting effort led by fifties from Suryakumar Yadav and K.L Rahul took India to 237/3, Miller hit an unbeaten, brilliant 106 off 47 balls, laced with eight fours and seven sixes, to also become the leading run-scorer for South Africa in T20Is.
He also shared a 174-run stand off 90 balls for the fourth wicket with Quinton de Kock (69 not out). But with de Kock struggling to break free early in the innings, South Africa fell short by 16 runs.

Guwahati, Oct 2 (Ians) The weather forecast for the second T20I between India and South Africa at the Barsapara Cricket Stadium in Guwahati was all about rain threatening to play spoilsport in the match. But when the match happened, there was no trace of rain. Instead, it was an absolute rain of runs in the match, with an aggregate of 458 runs giving the capacity the crowd their money’s worth.
But to the delight of fans, India’s collective batting effort, led by a sizzling Suryakumar Yadav’s 61 off just 22 balls, and posting a mammoth 237/3 was enough for them to get a 16-run win and clinch the series with one game still left.
Apart from Suryakumar, Kl Rahul dazzled with an eye-pleasing 57 off 28 balls while Rohit Sharma, Virat Kohli and Dinesh Karthik played their parts well to feast on South Af’ica’s ordinary bowling show, barring Keshav Maharaj’s 2/23.

Guwahati, Oct 3 (Ians) Though India eventually prevailed over South Africa in a run-fest to win the second T20I by 16 runs and take an unassailable 2-0 lead, skipper Rohit Sharma feels that death overs will continue to be an area where his side will be challenged with the bat as well as with the ball.
In a match yielding an aggregate of 458 runs at the Barsapara Cricket Stadium, India’s batters made 82/1 in the death overs with the bat, feasting on South Africa’s ordinary bowling.
In response, the Indian bowlers also got some pasting from a whirlwind David Miller and Quinton de Kock, with Arshdeep Singh conceding 26 runs in the 19th over and Axar Patel giving away 20 runs in the final over.
However, it is to be noted that the bowlers struggled to grip the ball well in extremely humid conditions, where the humidity levels were as high as 94 during the match in Guwahati.

Guwahati, Oct 2 (Ians) South Africa skipper Temba Bavuma won the toss and elected to bowl first against India in the second T20I at the Barsapara Cricket Stadium in Guwahati on Sunday.
After winning the toss, Bavuma said pacer Lungi Ngidi replaces left-arm wrist-spinner Tabraiz Shamsi in the playing eleven. “We will manage our energies really well. This one looks like a different pitch. We want to do the job with the ball and then the batters to finish it off. Guwahati, Oct 1 (Ians) With mystery still surrounding the availability of pace spearhead Jasprit Bumrah for the Men’s T20 World Cup, India would be looking to put that on the backburner and try to get a rare series win (and also the first time) over South Africa at home when the second T20I happens at Barsapara Cricket Stadium in Guwahati on Sunday.
The ongoing series against South Africa was supposed to fine-tune India’s plans for the T20 World Cup. But with uncertainty over Bumrah’s fitness, especially after Mohammed Siraj was called over as his replacement for the remainder of T20Is against the Proteas, there are more worries on what will India’s ideal pace combination be.

New Delhi, Sep 30 (Ians) The Rohit Sharma-led Indian cricket team is to leave for Australia on October 6, two days after the conclusion of the ongoing home T20I series against South Africa and will have a preparatory camp ahead of the much-anticipated T20 World Cup.
After landing in Australia, India will train in Perth till October 13, where they are also slated to play a practice game against Western Australia. Thereafter, they will move to Brisbane to take on Australia and New Zealand in two more warm-up games before the start of the proper tournament, an ESPNcricinfo report said.
At least five members of the T20 World Cup squad — including the standbys — have no experience of playing top-flight cricket in Australia. The likes of Suryakumar Yadav, Harshal Patel (who made one trip with the U-19s in 2009), Arshdeep Singh, Deepak Hooda (who made one trip with U-19s in 2013) and...

New Delhi, Sep 30 (Ians) As of now, there is a lot of uncertainty and confusion over the availability of India pace spearhead Jasprit Bumrah for the Men’s T20 World Cup, starting next month in Australia.
Some media reports state that Bumrah has a serious stress fracture in the back, which will keep him out of the game for four to six months. On the other hand, there are some speculations which say that the pacer might just make it to the World Cup if his recurrence of back injury may not be serious in nature and requires healing time of four to six weeks.
With the changes to squads subject to the approval of International Cricket Council (Icc) can happen till October 15, India still have some arsenal in their pace attack and have time in hand to see how can the big gap left by Bumrah’s potential absence...

New Delhi, Sep 30 (Ians) Former India men’s wicketkeeper-batter and ex-member of the senior selection committee Saba Karim has backed Mohammed Shami to replace Jasprit Bumrah if the latter is ruled out of Indian side traveling for the Men’s T20 World Cup in Australia next month.
Since Thursday, there have been reports of Bumrah likely to miss out on playing in the T20 World Cup due to back injury. Earlier on Friday, he was replaced by fellow pacer Mohammed Siraj for the remainder of the T20I series against South Africa after sustaining a back injury.
Shami, included as a travelling reserve for the mega event, hadn’t featured in T20Is against Australia and currently against South Africa due to Covid-19 positive result, which came negative after ten days. Thiruvananthapuram, Sep 29 (Ians) Usually known for his excellence in death overs bowling, young left-arm pacer Arshdeep Singh for a change broke the back of South Africa’s innings with the new ball with triple strikes in his first over to set the base for India’s eight-wicket win at the Greenfield International Stadium.
On his match-defining spell, Arshdeep, who was adjudged the Player of the Match, said his plan was to bowl at the right areas as the ball was swinging, which worked well in his favour. He also credited Deepak Chahar, who took two wickets in power-play, for showing the path to bowl in right areas on a green carpet.
“Getting the wickets early up (in the inning) was always a great feeling. I guess the plan was really simple, the ball was swinging. I had to pitch it (the ball) in the right places and it worked well.

With a good amount of grass cover on the pitch, it meant that fast bowlers would make the ball talk for the entire duration of the game. Suddenly, the environment was more of a Test match than a T20I game as Deepak Chahar and Arshdeep Singh scythed through the top-order to leave South Africa at 9/5 in the space of 15 balls, thereby deciding the outcome of the match long before the actual game was over.
The right-left pace duo, playing after not featuring in the series against Australia, made merry on a pitch tailor-made for them to swing the ball both ways and rattle the South African batters.
Chahar set the tone for the carnage by feeding Temba Bavuma with three outswingers before castling the visiting captain with an inswinger and had Tristan Stubbs caught at third man via extra bounce.

Thiruvananthapuram, Sep 29 (Ians) South Africa captain Temba Bavuma said they did not expect so much juice in the wicket for the first T20I of the three-match series here and said his players failed to adapt to the conditions both while batting and bowling.
Bavuma said the batting unit failed to apply itself.
“As a batting unit, we failed to apply ourselves, We weren’t able to adjust our plans. We saw what Rahul was able to do. We didn’t expect that (the pitch to have so much juice), we practiced here two days, ago. We saw the wicket was spicy, but we didn’t expect it like that. You expected to hit through the line coming to India,” he said after the match.

Thiruvananthapuram, Sep 28 (Ians) Arshdeep Singh and Deepak Chahar blew away South Africa’s top order in a magnificent spell of swing bowling, before vice-captain Kl Rahul and Suryakumar Yadav slammed unbeaten fifties to give India an eight-wicket win over South Africa in the T20I series opener at the Greenfield International Stadium on Wednesday.
On a two-paced pitch with green tinge as international cricket returned to the venue after three years, Arshdeep (3/32) and Chahar (2/24) justified Rohit Sharma’s call to bowl first as they scythed through South Africa’s top-order by picking five wickets on the first 15 balls of the innings to restrict the visitors to 106/8 in 20 overs.
The duo, who did not play in the recent home series against Australia and replaced a rested Bhuvneshwar Kumar as well as Jasprit Bumrah – out due to a back niggle, were sensational in their T20I comebacks to set the base for...

Thiruvananthapuram, Sep 28 (Ians) In his first T20I match at home, young left-arm pacer Arshdeep Singh picked up three wickets in his very first over of the T20I series opener against South Africa at the Greenfield International Stadium, displaying magnificent swing bowling to break the back of the visitors’ batting.
After setting the base for India’s eight-wicket win and giving them 1-0 lead in the three-match series, Arshdeep credited simplicity in plans and bowling in right areas to bamboozle South Africa on a two-paced pitch with green tinge.
“I had thought about what to say if I get the man of the match award and got a little excited (on being eager to come and talk). Thiruvananthapuram, Sep 28 (Ians) Vice-captain K.L Rahul and Suryakumar Yadav slammed unbeaten fifties to give India an eight-wicket win over South Africa in the T20I series opener at the Greenfield International Stadium on Wednesday.
On a pitch which was made for fast bowlers to make merry, as seen from the five-wicket burst provided by Arshdeep Singh and Deepak Chahar earlier in the match, South Africa bowlers too were able to take out Rohit Sharma and Virat Kohli early.
With the required run rate not much high, Rahul hung in and with Suryakumar in stellar touch, they put on an unbeaten stand of 93 off 63 balls to chase down 107 with 18 balls remaining, giving India 1-0 lead in the three-match series.
The hosts’ were dealt an early blow when a peach from Kagiso Rabada in the second over lured Rohit Sharma into playing at it and thick edge went behind to Quinton de Kock,...

Thiruvananthapuram, Sep 28 (Ians) Arshdeep Singh and Deepak Chahar made merry on a green pitch with deadly swing bowling to reduce South Africa to 9/5 in 2.3 overs, before Keshav Maharaj played a fighting knock of 41 to take South Africa to a below-par 106/8 against India in the T20I series opener at the Greenfield International Stadium on Wednesday.
Arshdeep (3/32) and Chahar (2/24) justified Rohit Sharma’s call to bowl first as they scythed through South Africa’s top-order in picking five wickets on the first 15 balls of the innings. With movement in the air for the left-right pace bowling duo, South Africa batters were unable to move their feet well and fell like a deck of cards, with their scores resembling a binary code.
It took Maharaj’s efforts with the bat, apart from 25 by Aiden Markram and 24 by Wayne Parnell for the visitors’ to get past 100. Chahar began the carnage when he castled...

“It was a good wicket when we played here last time (in 2019). Bit of green covering but it’s gonna be a good batting track. Very important to continue to do what you’re doing and keep that momentum in this format. Very healthy atmosphere in the group and we also want to make sure to...

Thiruvananthapuram, Sep 28 (Ians) After missing out on the T20I series against Australia to undergo conditioning-related work at the National Cricket Academy (Nca) in Bengaluru, young left-arm pacer Arshdeep Singh is back in the playing eleven for the first T20I against South Africa at Thiruvananthapuram.
Arshdeep’s return will bolster the Indian team, who have had concerns in the bowling department, especially leaking runs in the death overs phase. Speaking to the broadcasters ahead of the start of the match, Arshdeep stated that he’s ready to bowl in any phase for the team.
“We as players need to be adaptable and be ready for any demands from the team, the same motivation remains with me, I am ready to bowl wherever the team needs me,” said the young left-arm pacer.

New Delhi, Sep 28 (Ians) Former India men’s wicketkeeper-batter and ex-member of the senior selection committee Saba Karim believes that the hosts’ may look to utilise young left-arm pacer Arshdeep Singh in middle and death overs phase during the T20I series against South Africa.
Of late, India’s bowling in the death overs phase has been a cause of concern, especially with senior pacer Bhuvneshwar Kumar leaking runs, Arshdeep’s addition to the playing eleven for the series against South Africa can help the Rohit Sharma-led side solve that problem area.
Arshdeep shot into national reckoning with his searing yorkers in pressure situations of the death overs phase in Ipl 2022 for his side Punjab Kings.
