One of the genre films set to premiere at the Tribeca Film Festival in June is the sci-fi/drama She Loved Blossoms More, and a bonkers first-look photo has arrived this week (above).
Additionally, Variety reports this afternoon that Yellow Veil Pictures has secured world sales on She Loved Blossoms More, billed as a “family drama in science fiction disguise.”
In the film, “three brothers build an unusual time-machine in order to bring their long-dead mother back to life. When their delusional father comes into the picture, the experiments go awry, and they descend into a psychedelic hellscape where the past and present fuse in a comedic yet deeply disturbing exploration of grief.”
Yannis Veslemes directed the film and co-wrote with Dimitris Emmanouilidis.
Veslemes said in a statement shared by Variety, “[She Loved Blossoms More is] a ballad for the defeated, a comedy for the accursed, a moral tale for us all and our beloved families.

Yellow Veil Pictures has secured world sales of “She Loved Blossoms More” ahead of the science-fiction drama’s Tribeca Festival premiere. Directed and co-written by Yannis Veslemes, the film will screen in the “Escape From Tribeca” section of the festival, a sidebar of Tribeca that highlights genre specific titles that offer more bite than the typical selections.
“‘She Loved Blossoms More’ is a family drama in science fiction disguise,” Veslemes said. “A ballad for the defeated, a comedy for the accursed, a moral tale for us all and our beloved families.”
According to an official logline, “She Loved Blossoms More” follows, “three brothers [who] build an unusual time-machine in order to bring their long-dead mother back to life. When their delusional father comes into the picture, the experiments go awry, and they descend into a psychedelic hellscape where the past and present fuse in a comedic yet deeply disturbing exploration of grief.

The Field Guide to Evil is an upcoming horror anthology. The anthology has brought together eight films, from several very different cultures and climates. Director Can Evrenol of Baskin (2015) fame has been involved along with other directors, including: Ashim Ahluwalia (Miss Lovely) Severin Fiala (Goodnight Mommy), Agnieszka Smoczynska (The Lure) and many others. The Field Guide to Evil recently had its World Premiere in Austin, Texas. Here, the film was well received and interviews were given. Director Yannis Veslemes (Norway) was interviewed by the Daily Dead. He said of the anthology and its horror mash-up: "everyone that was involved, I sense that they took stories from their traditions and they mixed things up in a very personal way. So, it's a documentary in some ways." This title brings horror stories, from many different countries, to the screen. As well, director Calvin Lee Reeder mentions the length of some of the...

While in Austin at the 2018 SXSW Film Festival, Daily Dead caught up with several of the directors and producers behind the various segments in the new horror anthology The Field Guide to Evil, which celebrated its world premiere during the fest. During our interview, we talked with directors Calvin Lee Reeder ("The Melon Heads", United States) and Yannis Veslemes ("Whatever Happened To Panagas The Pagan?", Greece) as well as producers Anke Petersen ("A Nocturnal Breath", Germany), Dora Nedeczky, and Esther Turan ("Cobblers’ Lot", Hungary) who discussed their involvement in the project and how they approached their ambitious contributions to The Field Guide to Evil.

After experimenting with his form of boundary-pushing, cinema-as-memory films to great, succesful lengths with his last three narrative features–not to mention Voyage of Time, which we’re still awaiting an actual U.S. release for–Terrence Malick will return to more of a traditional script with his WWII drama Radegund, hopefully releasing later this year. But first, after splicing in avant-garde and experiential touches with his last few films, he’s making the natural step into virtual reality.
Premiering at South by Southwest Festival–where he gave a rare public talk last year–on March 13 is the Vr experience Together, which is directed by Malick and shot by cinematographer Rodrigo Prieto (Silence, The Wolf of Wall Street, Brokeback Mountain). Clocking in at 5 minutes and 46 seconds and featuring music by Simon Franglen, see the synopsis below, as well as the first look above.

Panos H Koutras’ Xenia swept the sixth Hellenic Film Academy Awards on Monday evening (March 30) including the top prizes for best film, best director and best screenplay.
The film, which played in Un Certain Regard at Cannes 2014, was also awarded best editing, best costumes and best supporting actor for Angelos Papadimitriou.
But in an emotionally charged gesture, the director and his team chose not to accept the awards until the left wing Syriza government passed a bill regarding second-generation, referring to more than 100,000 immigrant children born and raised in Greece who are being denied Greek citizenship.
Xenia centres on two teenage boys who cross the entire country in search of their Greek father, after their Albanian mother passes away. They hope he will identify them as sons and secure their citizenship.
