Newly surfaced comments made by OceanGate CEO Stockton Rush before the fatal Titan submersible incident, which claimed the lives of five individuals, have resurfaced ahead of an upcoming documentary.
The documentary, titled Minute by Minute: The Titan Sub Disaster, set to air on the U.K.’s Channel 5, provides a detailed account of the day when the OceanGate submersible vanished in the depths of the North Atlantic. The film features an interview with Rush on St. John’s Radio in Canada, where he reportedly made the ironic remark about the upcoming expedition, “What could go wrong?”
In the interview, Rush also mentioned that they chose to schedule the expedition in June to the wreck of The Titanic and cited the calmer waters around the ship at that time.
On June 18, Rush, along with Titanic expert Paul-Henri Nargeolet, British Pakistani billionaire Shahzada Dawood, his son Suleman and billionaire British explorer Hamish Harding,...

When is it too soon to make a movie about a tragic event? Within the first year or the first decade? According to one film studio, three months feels like ample time to allow families to grieve a massive loss. Not everyone on social media agrees. Following news that a film studio was prepped and ready to create a fictionalized, live-action movie based on the OceanGate Titan disaster, people sounded off on social media, and they were pretty pissed.
What is the OceanGate Titan disaster?

Nearly four months after the Titan submersible imploded on June 18, the U.S. Coast Guard believes it has found more human remains of the five submarine passengers onboard.
In what was likely a final attempt to salvage the bodies, the Coast Guard has recovered more “presumed human remains” retrieved from inside the debris field. The remains are set to be cataloged and analyzed by the Coast Guard’s medical professionals to make an official determination.
Since the incident, the US, Canada, UK and France have been leading an investigation to find and recover the remains of OceanGate CEO Stockton Rush, French Titanic expert Paul-Henri Nargeolet, billionaire Hamish Harding, Pakistani businessman Shahzada Dawood and his son 19-year-old Sulaiman Dawood.
Rush had charged each passenger $250,000 per ticket for the experience. He claimed that the Titan’s design would meet or exceed industry standards for subs.

Deadline reports that MindRiot Entertainment is developing a movie based on the OceanGate Titan submersible tragedy, which caught the attention of the world in June 2023.
The OceanGate Titan submersible lost contact with its mothership nearly two hours into its deep-sea dive near the wreckage of the Titanic. A massive search took place in an attempt to locate the submersible and rescue the occupants before their air ran out, but four days later, debris was discovered that led investigators to believe the vehicle had imploded, claiming the lives of all five onboard: OceanGate CEO Stockton Rush, British businessman Hamish Harding, former French Navy diver Paul-Henry Nargeolet, and British-Pakistani businessman Shahzada Dawood and his 19-year-old son Suleman.

A film about the OceanGate Titan submersible incident is in the works. The tragic event, which claimed the lives of five people who were attempting to visit the wreck of the Titanic, has sparked interest from Hollywood producers.
According to Deadline1, the film will be based on the book “Titan: The Final Voyage” by journalist Jessica Parker, who covered the search and rescue operation for the BBC. Parker’s book, which will be published in October, is described as a “gripping account of the human drama, the technological challenges, and the ethical dilemmas” surrounding the incident.
The film will be produced by Mark Gordon and Amy Pascal, who have previously worked on films such as “The Martian” and “Spider-Man: Homecoming”. The director and cast have not been announced yet, but Deadline reports that several A-list actors are interested in the project.

The missing OceanGate Titan submersible tragedy from earlier this year is being made into a movie.
MindRiot Entertainment and producer E. Brian Dobbins are making a movie about the OceanGate incident. Dobbins will co-produce and MindRiot’s Justin MacGregor and Jonathan Keasey will write the film.
The Titan submersible caught the world’s attention in June 2023 after it went missing during a deep sea underwater excursion near the wreckage of the Titanic in the Atlantic Ocean. The submersible lost contact with its mother ship 1 hour and 45 minutes into the dive, and the five-man crew was feared dead as the oxygen supply was dwindling in the high-pressure conditions. Four days after the sub went missing, a remotely operated underwater vehicle discovered debris near the Titanic wreck, and the Titan submersible was believed to have imploded.

Exclusive: MindRiot Entertainment (Gamergate) has set a new docu-series titled Salvaged, based on the life of former Oceangate mission director Kyle Bingham.
Bingham served as OceanGate’s mission director from 2018 to 2023. During that time, he directed two successful expeditions to the Titanic. The first dive was in 2021, followed by a second in 2022. The docuseries will chronicle Bingham’s submersible dives around the globe from the depths of North America’s Puget Sound and the Hudson Canyon to the Bahama’s Abaco Coast.
“Our series is about a hero and a vision for exploration that is beyond courageous,” said MindRiot founder Jonathan Keasey.

A video by AiTelly describing the Titan submersible implosion has become a sensation on Youtube, hitting five million views in only 11 days.
The six-minute video uses animations to show how the implosion that killed five men, Hamish Harding, Shahzada Dawood, his son Suleman Dawood, Paul-Henry Nargeolet and Stockton Rush, would have occurred, including the different factors leading up to the incident.
One of the issues with the submersible was the material used to create it. Instead of utilizing steel, aluminum and titanium, which has successfully been used in other submarines, Ocean Gate used “an experimental design.” Carbon fibers were applied, which can be advantageous as it is a light material, but it has not been studied for deep sea use. The main concern with it is that “it can crack and break suddenly,” which is probably why it is not frequently experimented with.

Oscar-winning “Titanic” filmmaker James Cameron isn’t giving up on deep sea exploration just yet.
Rising as one of the most prominent proponents of the continued, safe exploration of our oceans in the wake of June’s OceanGate submersible tragedy, Cameron told The Guardian in an interview published Saturday that he believes deep sea dives are still “safer than getting an elevator and safer than getting on an airplane.”
Cameron did not just write and direct the defining piece of entertainment surrounding the sinking of the Titanic. He has also for years been part of a small community of people who willfully explore the furthest reaches of the sea, making him a subject matter expert that many turned to last month after five people, including OceanGate CEO Stockton Rush, died when the company’s Titan submersible imploded while journeying to the wreckage of the Titanic at the bottom of the Northern Atlantic.

After its Titan submersible imploded and killed all five passengers on board, OceanGate has announced that it has suspended commercial operations.
But the company’s website still shows highlight clips of expeditions as well as tour offerings to the Titanic. No additional information was provided, and OceanGate has not responded to any media outlets for comment.
The company hosted $250,000 tourist voyages on its Titan submersible to the remains of the Titanic, which are located approximately 2.4 miles below the ocean’s surface.
On June 18, the Titan was about 1.75 hours into its journey when it lost communication capabilities with its mother ship. The submersible did not return, starting an international search that lasted for the next couple of days.
But on June 22, authorities stated that the Titan had undergone a “catastrophic implosion.” The five victims onboard were later identified as OceanGate CEO Stockton Rush, French diver Paul-Henri Nargeolet, British businessman Hamish Harding,...

James Cameron has dispelled rumors that he is making a movie about OceanGate, the company that built a submersible meant to sustain tours of the Titanic wreckage that imploded last month with five passengers on board.
“I don’t respond to offensive rumors in the media usually, but I need to now. I’m Not in talks about an OceanGate film, nor will I ever be,” Cameron tweeted.
Cameron famously directed Titanic, the romantic epic about the 1912 shipwreck, and has himself traveled underwater to the crash site over 33 times. He has even visited the Mariana Trench, one of the deepest points in the ocean, in a submersible he designed and built himself. Following the Titan implosion, he joined a chorus of voices who criticized OceanGate for going ahead with a vehicle that wasn’t up to traditional safety standards.

James Cameron loves the water, but he isn’t diving into the story of the OceanGate submersible anytime soon. The “Avatar” and “Titanic” director has denied false reports that he is developing a new project based on the Titan submersible explosion.

In a tweet Saturday, Cameron denied the story, calling it an “offensive” rumor and saying he will never direct any project about OceanGate.

James Cameron is one of the world’s preeminent filmmakers largely thanks to the record-smashing, awards-grabbing success of 1997’s “Titanic” — but don’t expect a deep-sea follow-up covering June’s OceanGate submersible tragedy anytime soon.
Responding to online rumors that he’s attached himself to a film project covering the so-called “Titan” submersible’s tragic undersea implosion while on a tourist expedition to view Titanic ruins on June 18 — an event that left five dead, including controversial OceanGate CEO Stockton Rush — Cameron heatedly said that there is no such project in the works. He appeared angry he had to respond to the rumors at all.

The original story quoted a source claiming, “The Titan disaster is already being looked at as a major series for one of the world’s biggest streamers — and James is the first choice for director. It is a subject close to his heart. He told the story of the Titanic so compassionately it feels like a...

San Francisco, July 12 (Ians) Drawing a comparison to a scene from a ‘horror movie’, an expert has suggested that the five individuals who boarded the OceanGate submersible may have been aware of the impending implosion between 48 and 71 seconds before its occurrence, leading to their tragic demise.
Spanish engineer and underwater expert Jose Luis Marti claimed to have created a timeline for the Titan’s final moments before it was destroyed on June 18, reports Diario As.
According to Martin, the submersible was descending calmly at a depth of about 5,500 feet when it lost stability due to an electrical failure and plummeted to the bottom of the ocean in a vertical position, like a stone, at a speed of 100 miles per hour. The plunge lasted for about 3,000 feet.
The submersible eventually imploded between 8.200 and 8.900 feet deep due to the pressure of the millions of gallons of water around it.

The company behind the Titan submersible’s fatal trip to the Titanic wreckage has suspended all operations.
OceanGate Expeditions announced the move with a small website banner that said it was suspending all commercial and exploratory operations. The move comes two weeks after its diving vessel suffered a fatal implosion, killing all five people aboard.
OceanGate’s website makes no mention of the submersible disaster.
Founded in 2009 and based in Washington state, the company offered tours of the Titantic wreckage for $250,000 per seat. The company also offered other expeditions to the Azores and the Bahamas, as well as “bespoke” option for custom tours.
The Titan vanished on June 18, setting off a massive search led by the US and Canada. The passengers included OceanGate CEO Stockton Rush. Wreckage from the Titan was found on June 22 near the Titantic.

OceanGate has suspended all exploration and commercial operations following the Titan submersible tragedy that killed five passengers during its expedition last month.
The announcement was made on the company’s website in a banner displayed at the top of the home page.
The Everett, Washington-based diving company — founded in 2009 — offered crewed submersibles for tourism to explore and research the ocean’s depths by providing a close-up look at shipwrecks and underwater canyons.

The decision to suspend operations comes after the U.S. Coast Guard announced on June 28 that “presumed human remains” of the passengers, including OceanGate’s CEO, who were on the Titan submersible had been recovered while searching through the wreckage after the sub imploded.
Last week, the Coast Guard also said that the Marine Board of Investigation will be conducting “further analysis and testing” on the evidence.

New Delhi, July 5 (Ians) US-based global sandwich chain Subway has faced criticism for creating an advertisement based on OceanGate’s Titanic submarine tragedy, which resulted in the presumed loss of all five occupants due to an implosion.
The ad which reads: “Our subs don’t implode” was displayed on the outdoor sign in a Subway restaurant in Georgia in the US.
The move has faced widespread criticism from internet users, with many condemning it as ‘distasteful’. “Subway, this is at your store in Rincon, Ga (Georgia). Not only is it distasteful, it’s just sad.
Do better,” a user tweeted with an attached image of the outdoor sign that read the ad. “I’ll never eat at Subway ever. It is distasteful and disrespectful to families who lost loved ones,” a user commented.

Stockton Rush, who was the OceanGate CEO and Titan submersible pilot, offered discounted tickets to his billionaire friend, Jay Bloom, for seats on the Titan submersible.
Bloom, who is a Las Vegas investor and real estate developer, took to Facebook to share screenshots of texts that he and the late CEO exchanged months before the fatal trip to Titanic.
In February, Rush asked Bloom if there was any “progress on joining” their Titanic dive this year, to which Bloom replied that his son’s friend “researched what could go wrong and put a little scare in him.”
He then said that he was trying to “talk him down” and added that his son, Sean, was “excited to go, but concerned about the danger.”
The OceanGate CEO then offered to have a video call with Sean and said he was “curious” about what the “uninformed” had to say, wondering if the...

“Presumed human remains” have been located after more debris from the Titan submersible was discovered.
On Wednesday, the Coast Guard released a statement detailing their next steps in the investigation.
“United States medical professionals will conduct a formal analysis of presumed human remains that have been carefully recovered within the wreckage at the site of the incident,” the statement read.
This contradicts a previous statement made by a Coast Guard official that it is unlikely the victim’s bodies would be recovered.
It was determined after a multi-day search and rescue that garnered international support that the five victims died on June 18 from an implosion.
Before this information was uncovered, authorities were racing against the clock as the sub only had 96 hours of oxygen available.

Among the handful of new titles arriving on Netflix on July 1 is James Cameron’s “Titanic,” an addition that is rubbing some people the wrong way given last week’s tragedy aboard the OceanGate Titan submersible. Five members traveling inside the Titan were killed when the submersible imploded while en route to visit the wreckage of the Titanic in the Atlantic Ocean.
Some users on social media have criticized Netflix for bringing Cameron’s “Titanic” to the streaming platform so soon after the submersible tragedy. As one user wrote, “Netflix is overstepping the boundaries of decency on this timing.” Many people are accusing the streamer of attempting to capitalize on the Titan deaths by adding “Titanic” to its library.
“People died in a tragic accident at the Titanic site and now to capitalize on the moment to garner viewers is beyond distasteful,” another Twitter user wrote.

It was in that vast desert, after watching the launch of SpaceShipOne, the first crewed private spaceflight, that Rush realized what he truly wanted: “I wanted to explore,” he told Smithsonian Magazine, an origin story that lead to an Icarian venture that, in the end, proved fatal.

Toronto, June 24 (Ians) Canadian authorities on Saturday launched a probe into the fatal occurrence involving the Canadian-flagged vessel Polar Prince and the privately-operated submersible Titan, which would have imploded and killed all five people on board.
The Canadian-flagged cargo vessel Polar Prince was at the Titanic wreck site, 325 nautical miles south-southeast of Cape Race, Newfoundland and Labrador, providing surface support to the submersible Titan.
There were 17 crew members and 24 people on board the Polar Prince.
Five people from the Polar Prince were on board the Titan and approximately 1 hour and 45 minutes after the submersible began its descent, the support vessel lost contact, according to the Transportation Safety Board of Canada (Tsb).
The US Coast Guard on Thursday confirmed that the debris found on the ocean floor near the Titanic wreckage consisted of pieces of the missing submersible. As a result, the five people on board the Titan are presumed dead.

Did The Simpsons “predict” the OceanGate Titanic submersible tragedy?
The animated series has been surprisingly prophetic when it comes to past historical events, from the global pandemic and “invasion” of murder hornets to the election of President Donald Trump and Lady Gaga’s high-flying Super Bowl performance. It appears the show may have also “predicted” the disappearance of the OceanGate submersible, which lost contact Sunday while descending to the site of the Titanic wreckage with five on board.
Amid news of the OceanGate tragedy, a 2006 episode of The Simpsons, titled “Homer’s Paternity Coot,” resurfaced on social media, presenting striking similarities to current events. In the episode, Homer Simpson embarks on a deep-sea expedition to search for long-lost treasure with his biological father in tiny submersibles. After searching for a while, they come across an abandoned ship site that’s filled with treasure.

Since news broke on Thursday that the missing Titan submersible had imploded near the site of the Titanic, Celine Dion’s Titanic theme “My Heart Will Go On” has seen a dramatic bump in streams.
Per TMZ, the Oscar-winning song has racked up more than 500,000 Spotify streams since the search and rescue effort for the OceanGate sub ended when a debris field was found on the ocean floor.
According to the Associated Press, the US Navy had analyzed acoustic data and found an anomaly “consistent with an implosion or explosion in the general vicinity of where the Titan submersible was operating when communications were lost.” The Navy then passed on the information to the Coast Guard, who continued the search until the debris was found.
The Titan was last seen on Sunday, June 18th before losing communication with a research ship. Its operator, OceanGate, offers tourism rides to the Titanic for $250,000 each.

San Francisco, June 23 (Ians) Death likely came very fast to the five passengers on board the Titan submersible and according to submarine experts, the vessel would have imploded and killed its crew so fast that those aboard “never knew it happened”.
Ofer Ketter, an expert in submersibles, told The New York Post that said the “implosion would occur within a millisecond, if not a nanosecond, if something breached the hull of the vessel to cause a loss in pressure”.
“They never knew it happened, which is actually very positive in this very negative situation. It was instantaneous — before even their brain could even send a type of message to their body that they’re having pain,” Ketter, co-founder of a private submersible company called Sub-Merge, was quoted as saying.
Debris from the OceanGate Expeditions’ Titan submersible was found late on Thursday, confirming all those aboard had died.

“Titanic” director and deep sea explorer James Cameron is opening up about when he first learned that the Titan tourist submersible had likely imploded, days before debris was discovered.
On Thursday, Rear Admiral John Mauger, the commander of the U.S. Coast Guard who led the search and rescue operation, announced that all aboard the vessel — owned by OceanGate Expeditions — were presumed “dead” following a “catastrophic implosion” and the discovery of debris.
Cameron, meanwhile, spoke with CNN’s Anderson Cooper Thursday, and said he’d learned on Monday that the submersible had likely imploded, and that the five passengers had likely been killed.
“I’ve been living with it for a few days now, as [have] some of my other colleagues in the deep submergence community,” Cameron, 68, shared.

King Princess is not impressed by wealthy people who take big risks. The singer (real name Mikaela Straus) is the great-great-granddaughter of Idisor and Ida Straus, who died when the Titanic sank in April 1912, and she has offered up an opinion about the Titan submersible, which killed five people when it imploded.
“I think there is a cycle of bajonga-jillionaires wanting to explore shit and then dying,” King Princess said on TikTok in a video that has since been taken down (via Entertainment Weekly). “Like, look at my fucking family,...

New York, June 23 (Ians) OceanGate CEO Stockton Rush, one of the five passengers killed after an “instantaneous implosion” of the Titan submersible tour to the Titanic, once said that he has “broken some rules” to make the deep-sea submarine.
In comments to Mexican travel vlogger Alan Estrada in 2021, Rush evoked US General Douglas MacArthur as saying, “You’re remembered for the rules you break.”
“I’ve broken some rules to make this (Titan). I think I’ve broken them with logic and good engineering behind me,” Rush was quoted as saying in the video that has now surfaced on social media after the tragedy.
Rush said that deep-sea submersibles “as a rule” should not be made with carbon fibre and titanium but he did anyway, reports Fox Business.
“It’s picking the rules that you break that are the ones that will add value to others and add value to society,...

Prior to the ill-fated expedition of the Titan tourist submersible over the weekend, 19-year-old Suleman Dawood was fearful about the excursion — according to his aunt, Azmeh Dawood.
Azmeh sat down for an interview with NBC News on Thursday, and revealed that her nephew — who was on board the vessel alongside his father, businessman Shahzada Dawood — had expressed that he was “terrified” of going on the dive, meant to explore the wreckage of the Titanic, and “wasn’t very up for it.”
However, Suleman eventually agreed to go on the trip with his dad, as the dive was meant to take place on Father’s Day, and he wanted to support his dad on the adventure.
The 21-foot submersible — owned by OceanGate Expeditions — lost contact with its support ship less than two hours after beginning their dive in the North Atlantic on Sunday. A search and rescue operation was quickly initiated,...

Canadian filmmaker James Cameron, who directed the critically acclaimed ‘Titanic’, is talking about the recent Titan submersible tragedy.
Speaking to ABC News, the 68-year-old director said, “I’m struck by the similarity of the Titanic disaster itself, where the captain was repeatedly warned about ice ahead of his ship and yet he steamed at full speed into an ice field.”

He continued: “For us, it’s a very similar tragedy where warnings went unheeded. To take place at the same exact site with all the diving that’s going on all around the world, I think it’s just astonishing.
