In one of the first big deals of the upcoming SXSW Film Festival, emerging genre sales company Yellow Veil Pictures has acquired the global sales rights for the animated fantasy “The Spine of Night.”
Directed by Philip Gelatt and Morgan Galen King, the film is set to have its world premiere in the SXSW Midnighters section of the festival, which runs virtually from March 16–20. The cast includes Richard E. Grant (“Star Wars: The Rise of Skywalker”), Lucy Lawless (“Ash Vs. Evil Dead”), Patton Oswalt (“A.P. Bio”), Betty Gabriel (“Get Out”), and Joe Manganiello (“Magic Mike Xxl”), and featuring Abby Savage (“Orange Is the New Black”), Larry Fessenden (“The Dead Don’t Die”), and Rob McClure (Broadway’s “Beetlejuice”).
Described as an ultra-violent, epic fantasy, “The Spine of Night” was hand-rotoscoped in the style of cult classic animator Ralph Bakshi and designed to evoke the style of formative fantasy artist Frank Frazetta.

One of George A. Romero's earliest films (regarded as a PSA about the horrors of ageism), The Amusement Park was previously thought to be lost to the passage of time, but following its recent discovery and new 4K restoration, the movie's worldwide sales rights have been acquired by Yellow Veil Pictures, bringing it one step closer to public consumption.
According to The Hollywood Reporter, Yellow Veil Pictures is bringing The Amusement Park to the Cannes Virtual Market, so we might not have to wait long to see who will team up with the company to distribute the film to the masses.
In the meantime, we have the official press release with more information below:

In the opening moments of “Blood on Her Name,” an arrestingly twisty and suspenseful Southern noir thriller in the tradition of “One False Move,” we’re introduced to Leigh, the working-class protagonist played by Bethany Anne Lind, with a jarring close-up that is at once explicit and ambiguous. Her face is battered, her breathing is labored, and she appears to have just gotten the worst of it in a fight.
But, then again, maybe not the very worst of it.
The bloodied man lying in front of her, we quickly learn, isn’t just unconscious or injured; he is seriously dead. And even before she pauses before completing a 911 call, it’s quite clear that, whatever the reason for the guy’s recent quietus, Leigh views his inconvenient corpse as incriminating evidence.
This is the first of several wrong decisions — most, but by no means all, made by Leigh — that...

Blood on Her Name opens with a pool of blood and a panicked breath. A dead body of a man lies at Leigh’s feet. The cuts on her face would suggest that it was self-defense, an accident. She’s a single mother to a teenage son and fears the consequences for her family and for her auto body shop, so she decides to scrub her garage floor clean and dispose of the body. Just as she’s about to dump his body into the lake, his phone rings. Leigh listens to the message left: it’s from his son. Guilt hits her like a punch in the gut, and her conscience tells her that she must bring his body back to his family, to leave them without the pain of the unknowing. But she soon learns that nothing will be able to ease her conscience, and her world soon falls apart.

Leigh (Bethany Ann Lind) doesn't have much faith in the police. Her father was definitely corrupt (though still works as a cop); her estranged husband is in prison for stealing cars; her son is on probation after getting into a brutal fight with another teen. So when she accidently kills a man who came to her autoshop late one night, she has little reason to trust that the police would believe her when she would tell them she was acting in self-defense. So she decides to cover it up, and that leads her down a increasingly dangerous and psychologically damaging road. Blood on Her Name, the feature debut by Matthew Pope, co-written with Don Thompson, follows Leigh as she tries to keep house and family...

A lot happens during the course of director Matthew Pope and co-writer Don M. Thompson’s Blood on Her Name … too much. This can prove problematic for what starts as a simple plot before things start turning convoluted real quick thanks to new revelations shedding light upon secrets and lies. Surprisingly, however, that perpetually escalating noise is justified. The reason stems from the fact that Leigh Tiller (Bethany Anne Lind) isn’t a murderer. Well, that’s not entirely true. Technically she is a murderer since she did presumably kill the man lying dead in a pool of blood on her auto shop’s concrete floor—an act that becomes the driving force of this entire endeavor. She’s just not a murderer in the sense that she did so with purpose.
If we’re being completely honest, none of the characters on-screen are. None of them are necessarily good people either.

Matthew Pope’s Blood On Her Name is a blue-collar revenge thriller with one helluva hard nose compared to other glamorized action spectacles where consequences don’t matter. It’s homestyle, nasty survival storytelling rooted with family at its core and despair weighing heavy on the viewer’s chest. Jeremy Saulnier comparisons are apt, even if the brutality isn’t […]

"You're my daughter, this is my problem!" Vertical Entertainment has debuted the full-length official trailer for the "critically acclaimed Southern Gothic neo-noir thriller" titled Blood on Her Name, which marks the feature directorial debut of filmmaker Matthew Pope. We featured a teaser trailer for this last year, to promote the film's premiere at the Fantasia Film Festival. It's arriving in theaters and also on VOD later this month. Blood on Her Name is about a local garage owner named Leigh who ends up with a dead body on her hands. Her panicked decision to cover up an accidental killing spins out of control when her conscience demands she return the dead man's body to his family. The film stars Bethany Anne Lind, Will Patton, Elisabeth Röhm, Jared Ivers, Jimmy Gonzales, and Jack Andrews. I think the teaser is better than this full trailer, but maybe it's just the way this is put together.

A woman, acting in self-defence, accidentally kills a man. In a panicked moment, she decides its in her and her son's best interest to hide the murder but her decision weighs heavy.
She's torn between her own self-interest and the knowledge that if she buries this secret, the man's family will forever wonder what happened. This inner drama is at the centre of Blood on Her Name, the debut feature from Matthew Pope.
The film stars Bethany Anne Lind as Leigh Tiller, the garage owner at the centre of this moral drama which also co-stars Will Paton as her estranged father.

Requiring some secrecy, it would be best for film fans to simply see this well executed film for themselves. Events begin with Lee (Bethany Anne Lind) and a body. Over time, plot details, leading to a murder, are revealed. Initially, the after events of the crime are shown, followed by a look at the characters and their motivations.
