Pass the Courvoisie (and maybe some cough syrup?) because Loot just served up one boozy SNL reunion with special guest star Ana Gasteyer.
Gasteyer plays Grace in Episode 8, a fellow billionaire Molly used to hang with pre-divorce. Looking to expand Space for Everyone nationwide, Molly and her crew are on the hunt for more funding from other donors who are as “generous, relatable and hot-but-they-don’t-know-it” as Molly. Grace is now divorced herself, but has since gone dark from the public eye. But when Molly and Sofia drop in on her, she’s in the midst of a downward spiral...

Within the past week, Jennifer Jason Leigh (“Fargo”) lost and then regained her first place position on our Best TV Movie/Limited Series Supporting Actress Emmy odds chart. She is being given a run for her money by small screen newcomer Kali Reis (“True Detective: Night Country”), who maintained general frontrunner status from May 9-12 and is still our experts’ pick to win, as has been the case since May 3.
A week ago, Reis was also our editors’ predicted winner, but they have since gravitated back toward Leigh. Based on the forecasts of 2,400+ Gold Derby users, both women currently have 6/1 odds in their race, with their closest competitor being Aja Naomi King (“Lessons in Chemistry”) at 15/2.
The temporary toppling of Leigh occurred three weeks after “Shōgun” overtook “Fargo” in the Best Limited Series race. Since then, the consensus among our readers has been that the latter show’s best shot...

[Warning: The below contains Major spoilers for Loot Season 2, Episode 4, “Mr. Congeniality.”] Loot’s latest episode welcomed a very special guest star with the appropriately titled installment, “Mr. Congeniality.” Benjamin Bratt stepped in to play a version of himself as Molly (Maya Rudolph) visited a swanky meditation retreat for her mental well-being. Things took a hilariously heated turn as Molly couldn’t hide her attraction to the movie star. Much to Molly’s delight, Bratt expressed an equal interest in her. But how did this amazing guest star appearance even come together? It turns out that there’s a Poker Face connection as Natasha Lyonne, who stars in the Peacock series is an executive producer on Loot and suggested her costar Bratt for the role. Apple TV+ “I mean, you yourself Poker Faced that… Natasha did suggest Benjamin Bratt,” co-creator Alan Yang says with a laugh. “She was like, ‘he’s incredible!’ And she really liked working...

Loot‘s second season is in full swing at Apple TV+, and before the premiere, stars Maya Rudolph, Michaela Jaé Rodriguez, Nat Faxon, and Joel Kim Booster joined co-creators Alan Yang and Matt Hubbard for a sit-down chat in our TCA studio. As a group, they discussed bringing billionaire Molly’s organization team together, not just as colleagues, but as a makeshift family. “If Season 1 is about them coming together, this season… they’re kind of a family already. So then we get to explore how they interact with each other and we get to see a lot more of the characters’ personal lives this season, which I think is also really fun,” Yang shares in the video interview, above. Apple TV+ “That’s my favorite part as well,” Rudolph chimes in. “The family aspect and seeing Molly figure out her new roles in her life, but also the bonds...

“Reservation Dogs” took the industry by storm. Critics and audiences alike fell in love with this FX comedy from Sterlin Harjo and Oscar-winner Taika Waititi. The series follows the lives of four Indigenous teenagers living in rural Oklahoma who try to scrape together enough money to leave behind their reservation community.
The reason the show soars so high is its spectacular cast, at the center of which is a quartet of brilliant young actors: Devery Jacobs, D’Pharoah Woon-a-Tai, Paulina Alexis, and Lane Factor. Jacobs is perhaps the jewel in this crown, as noted by critics.
Maureen Ryan (Vanity Fair) observed: “It was astonishing to watch Jacobs’s body language and face in the recent episode in which Elora met her father, Rick (Ethan Hawke). It was magical to see her unlock psychological doors she’d kept shut for years, transforming her into a more relaxed version of the capable,...

When we last saw billionaire Molly Wells, she publicly announced her plan to give away all of her Loot before unfortunately hopping back in bed with her obnoxious ex John. If you were hoping she’d ditch that sleazeball before Season 2 began, consider your wish granted!

Loot is officially returning for the latest chapter in do-gooder billionaire Molly Wells’ (Maya Rudolph) story on April 3, and she’s making some big changes in Season 2, according to creators Matt Hubbard and Alan Yang. “So much of Season 1 is sort of having her eyes opened to the world around her and these other people around her culminating in this huge promise she makes of, ‘I’m going to give all my money away.’ And I think through Season 2, the conflict is that is strangely easier said than done,” Hubbard teases. In other words, Molly struggles to find the right way to dole out her charity to those in need. “I think it’s very easy to give money to people who don’t deserve it or are bad actors, and so we spend some time exploring that,” Hubbard continues. As viewers will recall, Season 1 saw Molly promise to give...

Loot on Apple TV+, unlike what the name suggests, is not a heist show. This one is rather an endearing take on a rich woman who is never considered as an emotional person and constantly sidelined for having a lot of money. Created by Alan Yang and Matt Hubbard, the show stars Maya Rudolph as a 45-year-old divorcee struggling with her life and yearning to do something different.
Loot season 1 focused on Molly Novak, the wife of the tech billionaire John Novak. She was seemingly happily married to him until she learned of his infidelity. Molly got a divorce and a hefty alimony, a palatial home in Los Angeles with many helpers at her disposal. Molly, at the age of forty-five, had everything but a life of her own. She had her assistant Nicholas, who supported her through marriage and the divorce, but craved for genuine friends and partners, something...

Joel Kim Booster is sharing his thoughts on the future of artificial intelligence as a creator in Hollywood.
Ahead of the 2024 Film Independent Spirit Awards Sunday afternoon, the writer-actor-comedian spoke with The Hollywood Reporter about the controversial technology that had sparked fears across the entertainment industry (and beyond) about AI displacing people from their jobs.
“I think if anyone’s job should be replaced by AI, it should be the execs, you know, in terms of the skill sets,” the Fire Island star explained. “I think it aligns a little bit more with what AI is able to do in terms of just sort of distilling algorithms and what can be bought and sold and things like that.”
Booster, who has worked in all facets of the industry, including writing, producing and acting, said that he is “absolutely” scared about what’s to come with AI.

Does the Television Critics Association’s semi-annual press tour still hold value?
That topic was a frequent debate at the Langham Hotel in Pasadena, California, where the TCA winter press tour wrapped Thursday after two weeks and a dizzying number of panels featuring stars, producers and the occasional executive.
TCA can still bring out the big stars (Apple had Michael Douglas, Hulu delivered Jon Bon Jovi, and Annette Bening and Snoop Dogg were highlights at NBCU) but the real value — aside from showcasing programming to a shrinking press corps that has been overwhelmed by Peak TV — comes from executive sessions that can help lay out a platform strategy that many will cover for months on end.
Before we get into the biggest takeaways from TCA, allow us to make an appeal to Netflix, Amazon, Warner Bros. Discovery and Paramount Global to return to press tour. Yes, we know it’s...

Paramount+ premiered the werewolf horror series “Wolf Pack” back in January 2023, and TV Line reports tonight that the series has already been cancelled after just one season.
Sarah Michelle Gellar made her return to horror in the series.
TV Line reports, “Last summer’s dual Hollywood strikes were the final nail in Wolf Pack‘s coffin. According to sources, a potential second season would not have been ready for nearly two years after the conclusion of Season 1.”
“Wolf Pack,” written and produced by Jeff Davis, follows a teenage boy and girl whose lives are changed forever when a California wildfire awakens a terrifying supernatural creature and drives it to attack a highway traffic jam beneath the burning hills.
Wounded in the chaos, the boy and girl are inexplicably drawn to each other and to two other teenagers who were adopted sixteen years earlier by a park ranger after another mysterious wildfire.

Exclusive: The writers are organized. There have been thousands of writers picketing outside of the traditional Hollywood studios from Disney, NBCUniversal, Paramount, Sony and Warner Bros. as well as the tech upstarts Netflix and Amazon.
But Deadline understands a more low-key operation is in place to target specific locations across LA that are being used for filming in order to shut them down and wreak havoc on the studios’ bottom line.
We hear the team has managed to stop production on series such as Disney+’s Marvel drama Wonder Man and Apple’s Maya Rudolph-fronted dramedy Loot.
