- Additional Crew
Richard Pike is a versatile composer, sound artist, and label curator whose work spans experimental, ambient, techno, and hybrid orchestral music. Pike has created scores for many Australian TV drama series' and short films. Pike shows a deep focus on creating compelling narratives, immersing each story into its own distinct soundworld.
Pike's first score for ROMPER STOMPER was nominated for the prestigious AACTA Award in 2018. It was described as "a little absurd and, suitably, very menacing" by ABC Classic FM. He also scored the 10-episode ABC TV comedy LES NORTON (2019) with Rebel Wilson and David Wenham, Channel 7's AUSTRALIAN GANGSTER (2021), and recently Stan TV's YEAR OF (2023).
Pike studied at the Sydney Conservatorium of Music while exploring technology and 20th-century music, leading him to form his band PVT (aka Pivot) and released on Warp Records UK, and toured with Gary Numan, Gotye, and Sigur Ros. Pike creates sound design installations in London for United Visual Artists and writes music for psychedelic therapy with Wavepaths, and has worked on large-scale installations with Sydney's Collider Studio.
Pike is the owner of Salmon Universe Records and advocates for left-field music. He has released 'Soft Confidence' and 'Dataverse' and 'Evergreen' under his ambient alias, Deep Learning, with his latest work 'Evergreen' utilizing material from scratched compact discs and polyrhythmic soft synths. It was premiered at the University of Gloucestershire's "Everyday Is Spatial" conference in 2021. He has recently supported UK dance luminaries Gold Panda and James Holden.
Pike is also a member of the acclaimed band Forgiveness, a trio with Jack Wyllie (Portico Quartet) and JQ, on Gondwana Records in the UK. Additionally, he has an online show on Margate Radio in the UK.
