An unlicensed “Making a Murderer” musical is set to have its world premiere at the Edinburgh Fringe Festival in Scotland next month – without Netflix’s involvement.
“Making a Murderer: The Musical” is based on the story of Steven Avery, who is also the subject of Netflix docuseries “Making a Murderer.” The musical is written by BAFTA-winning writer Phil Mealey (“The Royle Family”), who admits he was inspired by the Netflix documentary.
“When I watched the documentary, like many others I was outraged at the way the system seemed stacked against Steven and his nephew Brendan,” said Mealey. “As a writer I saw so many astonishing twists and turns and intriguing characters that if this were written as an original story no-one would believe it was plausible.”
“Our intention is to highlight and parody the inconsistencies in the case where people with power have not used that power fairly or effectively.

We asked Den Of Geek’s writers to recommend brilliant comedy shows that deserve to have more of a fuss made about them. Here they are...
Banging a drum about stuff we love is more or less our remit on Den Of Geek - hence what many readers have started referring to as the ‘inexplicably regular' appearance of Statham, squirrels and Harold Bishop from Neighbours on these pages.
To that end then, we asked our writers which comedy shows (past and present, UK or otherwise, on TV, radio, or online…) deserved more praise, and here are the ones they chose. You might already like them too, or you might discover something new to dig out and enjoy. That’s the fun of it.
Please note that this list isn’t ranked in any order, nor is it exhaustive. It’s compiled from the opinions of a group of different people,...

A camera fault reportedly ruined two days' worth of footage for The Royle Family Christmas special at an estimated cost of £100,000. Writer Phil Mealey said that a tiny object had dropped in the lens, ruining the film and resulting in the cast being recalled. "When we looked at the footage, it was like my holiday photographs - everyone's head was cut off. Everything was lost. We were absolutely gutted," he told The Daily Telegraph. "The camera had been checked and what was coming through on the monitors in the studio was fine. But a ground glass piece or something had (more)...
