- Father took him on a tour of the execution room in San Quentin when he was a child. This forged his opposition to the death penalty as an adult.

- Moscone was assasinated 9 days after the Jonestown mass suicide in Jonestown, Guyana. The Reverend Jim Jones had been the chairman of the SF Housing Authority under Moscone prior to fleeing with his People's Temple into Guyana.
- Attended St. Ignatius High School, San Francisco
- Was primarily raised by his mother, Lena Moscone.
- Father, George J. Moscone, was a milkman, also worked at San Quentin prison for a time.
- Dianne Feinstein succeeded him as Mayor after his death.
- Mayor of San Francisco January 8 1976 to November 27 1978
- Shot to death by city Supervisor Dan White after Moscone refused to re-appoint White to the board of supervisors following his resignation on November 10th. A few minutes later White shot Supervisor Harvey Milk to death as well.
- San Francisco's largest convention complex, the "Moscone Center", was named in his honor.
