One of Saturday Night Live cast member Mikey Day’s favorite sketches never made it to the broadcast.
Day recalled the SNL moment during a recent appearance on The Kelly Clarkson Show. He said the sketch in question didn’t even make it to dress rehearsal, but he still loved it.
“It was around Christmastime and we wrote — this was years back when Trump was still president at the time — and it was a Home Alone [spoof], and Eric Trump was left home alone in Trump Tower,” Day said from the Clarkson couch, joined by fellow guests Dionne Warwick and Damon Elliott. “And so Don Jr. had to go back, and, [he said,] ‘I’ve gotta get back to New York, Eric’s home alone,’ and there were investigators coming in in place of the burglars.”
Clarkson asked Day why the sketch got cut. “Well, it didn’t even get picked, so it...

Diane Warren lined up an all-star girl group including Debbie Harry, Dolly Parton, Belinda Carlisle, Cyndi Lauper and Gloria Estefan to sing “Gonna Be You,” from the film 80 for Brady.
“I love great artists,” Warren said Thursday at Deadline’s Sound and Screen Film event. “I love iconic artists.”
Warren had written songs for Estefan and Carlisle before. Parton was a first.
“She doesn’t need me,” Warren said of the country legend.
Producer Damon Elliott coordinated recording all of the artists in different locations. Carlisle was in Mexico City and Estefan in Miami, for example.
“None of them are in L.A.,” Warren said.
During her long music career, Warren has written for such varied artists as Trisha Yearwood, Aerosmith and Starship. Warren said she still gets turned down, but her persistence often pays off with big hits.
“They don’t all say yes,” Warren said. “The famous...

Dionne Warwick cancelled her June 22-24 performances this week, telling fans their tickets will be refunded following a “medical incident.”
Warwick, 82, was set to perform at Rivers Casino Des Plaines outside of Chicago next week. Fans received notice the event was cancelled on Thursday.
Et has learned Warwick had a minor medical incident and is on the mend.
She is set to appear in New York and Delaware next month.
Warwick spoke to Et in May, when she sat down with her son, Damon Elliott, and asked him if, as “the queen of Twitter,” there was a tweet she posted that he wish she hadn’t.
Damon told his mom immediately it was “the first one” directed at Chance the Rapper (and minutes later The Weeknd) that sent everyone into a frenzy.
In a Dec. 5, 2020 tweet, Warwick asked, “Hi, @chancetherapper. If you are very obviously a rapper why did you...

Los Angeles was the place to be this week, especially if music is your scene. The pre-game Grammys celebrations rolled into town, luring everyone from Leonardo DiCaprio to Trevor Noah to hit the scene to see Latto, Anitta and other new chart-rising musicians perform. Meanwhile, Oscar nominations narrowed the field as the awards season raged on, with AARP holding a glittery awards show as “Elvis” stalwarts Austin Butler and Baz Luhrmann continued to be the Energizer Bunny duo on the party scene. Tom Brady quit football and started his Hollywood career this week, too; apparently no one told him that releasing a movie in January is not prime time.

Dionne & Dolly would be the perfect stage name for a country-soul duo made up of Dionne Warwick and Dolly Parton — a version of which isn’t too far off in the future. During a recent appearance on the Tamron Hall Show, Warwick revealed that she and Parton have recorded a gospel duet titled “Peace Like a River,” set for release later this month.
“She sent me a song that she wanted me to record and I said, ‘Ok, that sounds like a deal,'” Warwick recalled of the collaboration’s origins.

"I'm a messenger - and I'm carrying messages of love and hope." Dogwoof has revealed the official trailer for a biopic documentary film titled Dionne Warwick: Don't Make Me Over, from filmmakers David Heilbroner & Dave Wooley. This premiered at TIFF last year and it also screened at the Doc NYC and Santa Barbara Film Festivals. Set against a music world profoundly divided between black and white, Don't Make Me Over tells the dramatic story of Warwick's meteoric rise from New Jersey gospel choirs to international cross-over super stardom. The film chronicles the iconic singer Dionne Warwick's six-decade career in both music and Black and LGBTQ activism. The ultimate portrait of the legend, featuring an all star line up of appearances: Quincy Jones, Burt Bacharach, Bill Clinton, Clive Davis, Gladys Knight, Cissy Houston, Elton John, Damon Elliott, Kenneth Cole, Snoop Dogg, Smokey Robinson. This looks like an uplifting, joyous doc.
