Following the eliminations of Scarlet, Danielle Finn and Sir Blayke on Sunday night, only the Top 20 singers remain in the running to win this landmark 20th season of “American Idol” on ABC. Viewers voted in our overnight poll that asked which of these three ousted artists was most robbed of a spot in the Top 20, and the results are in. With 25, Scarlet nabbed more votes than her fellow contestants. Danielle followed at 22, and then Sir Blayke trailed at 16. However, the plurality of respondents (37) actually thought that “None of them” were robbed this week. Here are the complete poll results:
37 — None of them
25 — Scarlet
22 — Danielle Finn
16 — Sir Blayke

In lieu of an exit interview, Scarlet simply stated, “I knew,” when host Ryan Seacrest gave her the bad news. Danielle told the host, “That’s all right,” as she tried to make light of the bad situation.

Regrettably, “American Idol” powerhouse singer Sir Blayke has just been eliminated from the reality TV show. The ouster came at the end of Sunday’s three-hour Top 20 reveal episode, with Ryan Seacrest delivering the bad news to the formerly homeless singer. “We heart you, too!” Ryan told Sir Blayke after he held up his hands in the shape of a heart for all of his fans to see. At 28 years old, he was the most experienced singer still in the competition. Did the voters mess up by cutting Sir Blayke from the Top 24? Vote in our poll below that asks which eliminated contestant was most robbed.

And just like that, Danielle Finn‘s journey on “American Idol” has come to an end. This 17-year-old from Los Angeles learned the unfortunate news during Sunday’s three-hour Top 20 reveal episode. “That’s all right,” Danielle told Ryan Seacrest with a smile, trying to make light of the bad situation. The host thanked Danielle for being a part of the reality TV show’s 20th season, adding, “It was a pleasure meeting you. I’m sorry it didn’t go any further, but it wouldn’t be the same without you. So thank you.” Did America get it wrong by cutting Danielle from the Top 24? Vote in our poll below that asks which eliminated contestant was most robbed.

Even though some viewers at home may have been shocked when Scarlet was eliminated on “American Idol,” Scarlet herself seemed at peace with the situation. “I knew,” the 18-year-old chuckled after Ryan Seacrest made the big announcement. “Thank you so much for being here,” the host told Scarlet after revealing she was cut from the Top 24 during Sunday’s Top 20 reveal episode. “It was a pleasure meeting you. “American Idol” continued with the 11th episode of Season 20 on Monday, April 11. American Idol returned for its final night from the Aulani, A Disney Resort & Spa in Ko Olina, Hawaii. The second dozen out of the Top 24 sang for America’s Vote with judges Luke Bryan, Katy Perry, and Lionel Richie giving their critiques. Before taking the stage the hopefuls met with mentor Bebe Rexha, who also served in the role during the 2018 season. The singer-songwriter was also backstage giving immediate reactions. Who shined most ahead of the Top 20? Which contestant bowed out of the competition before the vote on Sunday? Let’s look back at the evening, shall we? Cadence Baker ABC/Karen Neal Cadence chose “Something’s Got a Hold on Me” by Etta James. Bebe felt there was a glass separating her from breaking through and showing 100 percent. She wanted more of a fearlessness. One of Bebe’s big tips was moving around the stage a bit more, which she took to heart.

“American Idol” auditions continued with the third episode of Season 20 on Sunday, March 13. Within the tour hours of cheers and tears, nine talented artists earned golden tickets to Hollywood, but there was one major misstep. So who was the best of the night? And did these aspiring stars choose the right songs? Below I rank each hopeful from the least impressive (but with room to grow) to a possible Season 20 frontrunner. I also throw in a song suggestion or artist I’d love to hear them cover.
Usually, I focus solely on the auditions that were successful but I would be remiss not to write about Taniya Boatwright’s audition of “A Change is Gonna Come” by Sam Cooke. The 17-year old wowed me, but it resulted in a “No” from judges Luke Bryan, Katy Perry and Lionel Richie. So if you read this Taniya, please audition next season because you were great.

Meeting Lionel Richie proved to be a religious experience for men and women of all ages on Sunday’s American Idol, elevating him to “Bell-Bottom Jesus” status.
The first to weep at the sight of Richie’s iconic ‘stache was Tristen Gressett, an Alabama teen whose peace necklace, feather earring and love of James Brown screamed old soul. So it came as no surprise when the 17-year-old said, “I want to bring back something that never should have left — soul.” The natural showman came in hot with a big performance of Billy Joel’s “Piano Man,” playing well to the...
