Disney+ still has eyes for Vision. Paul Bettany will return to his Marvel role as the humanoid conception of the malevolent supercomputer Ultron, but a good guy, but also undead because Thanos killed him a few movies back. It’s comics, it’s meant to be confusing.
“WandaVision,” in which Bettany starred opposite Elizabeth Olsen, remains one of the most successful of the Disney+ Marvel shows, netting both Bettany and Olsen Emmy nominations—one of eight Primetime Emmy nominations for the show, as well as 12 Creative Arts Emmy nominations and three wins.
Terry Matalas has been tapped as executive producer and showrunner for the series, due to stream in 2026. Matalas’s most recent gig was over at Paramount+, where he had the center seat on the third season of “Star Trek: Picard.” Most nerds will agree that the third season was the best, pivoting away from the original mandate of...

We've known for a couple of years now that Marvel had plans for more than one spin-off from WandaVision. With the endlessly title-shifting Agatha All Along already on the way, the company is finally moving forward on a show focused on the ghostly version of Vision, as played by Paul Bettany in the show. And unlike the Agatha series, which was overseen by WandaVision's Jac Schaeffer, this one has been placed in the hands of Star Trek: Picard Season 3 showrunner Terry Matalas.
While Variety brings word of the show's developments, there remains little official on the plot front. It'll presumably Vision's story as the "white" Vision, who had his memories restored by original flavour Vision, as he seeks to explore his new purpose in life.
Whether Olsen might appear (mostly likely in flashback given the events of Doctor Strange In The Multiverse Of Madness) remains to be seen, but Bettany is confirmed to return.

Disney+ is set to resurrect Vision in a new series set for 2026. Paul Bettany will reprise his role as the Marvel character, who appeared in three Marvel films and WandaVision.
Star Trek: Picard EP Terry Matalas has been tapped to serve as showrunner on the new series.
Details of the new series have not been revealed, but as we previously reported, the Marvel Vision series had been in development at Disney+ since 2022. At the time, we heard the series would center on The Vision (Bettany) trying to regain his memory and humanity, While the focus is on Vision, we also heard there is a possibility for Wanda Maximoff (Elizabeth Olsen) to appear, which would make sense given how interconnected the two characters’ stories are in the MCU.
After Vision was killed by Thanos in 2018’s Avengers: Infinity War, he returned twice in 2021’s WandaVision.

Marvel is looking to a new Vision for its next TV offering.
The Vision character played by Paul Bettany will be at the center of the studio’s first new series order in some time. The untitled show is currently on track for a 2026 premiere on Disney+, with Star Trek: Picard’s Terry Matalas installed as showrunner. A writers room for the series opened this week.
Bettany will reprise his role as Vision, which spans three Marvel films and the WandaVision series (plus voice work on the three Iron Man movies as Jarvis, Tony Stark’s artificial intelligence creation). At the end of WandaVision, Vision’s physical body was brought back to life (with an all-white appearance), with no memories of his previous incarnation; his memories are restored by the spectral Vision Wanda (Elizabeth Olsen) had conjured to manage her grief as she put a hex on the town of Westview,...

Marvel has tapped “Star Trek: Picard” executive producer Terry Matalas to resurrect Vision, the synthezoid played by Paul Bettany, for a new, untitled Disney+ series set for 2026, Variety has learned exclusively. Bettany will return to the role and Matalas will serve as showrunner.
After Vision died at the hands of Thanos in 2018’s “Avengers: Infinity War,” he returned twice over in 2021’s “WandaVision,” first as a spectral creation by his beloved, Wanda Maximoff (Elizabeth Olsen), through magic powered by grief; then as a rebuilt, nuts-and-bolts android with a ghost white appearance and zero memory of his past life. When the two Visions battled in the “WandaVision” finale, Wanda’s Vision restored the ghost Vision’s memories, then Wanda allowed her Vision to fade from existence. The new show will take place after those events, as ghost Vision presumably explores his new purpose in life.

Brian Helgeland's 2001 film "A Knight's Tale" is based on the first of the Canterbury Tales by Geoffrey Chaucer, but it has as much to do with 14th-century medieval literature as "Wayne's World." The film features characters singing Queen songs and one of the characters invents the Nike "swoop" as a brand for her armor. The story involves William Thatcher (Heath Ledger) a handsome young cove who aims to win jousting tournaments and be welcomed as one of the king's knights. It's a raucous, lightweight, silly movie that is deeply beloved by a very specific age group, that is: those who were between 15 and 17 in May of 2001.
It also depicted Ledger at the height of his heartthrob powers, as well as Paul Bettany (as Chaucer), Rufus Sewell as the villain, Shannyn Sossamon as Ledger's would-be paramour, and a trio of brilliant comedian sidekicks in Mark Addy, Laura Fraser, and Alan Tudyk.

'A Knight's Tale' sequel was scrapped by the Netflix algorithm, according to director Brian Helgeland. The 63-year-old filmmaker has been keen to shoot a follow-up to his 2001 medieval comedy classic - which starred Heath Ledger, Paul Bettany and Alan Tudyk - but despite the original movie's enduring popularity, the streaming platform has decided against it.He told Inverse magazine: "I pitched it to Sony because they own the rights, and it seemed like they were interested in making it with Netflix, releasing it as a Netflix movie.“My understanding is that Netflix tested this sequel idea through their algorithms, which indicated that it would not be successful."‘A Knight’s Tale’ seems to get more popular with every passing year; it’s the strangest thing.”Helgeland and the team already had big plans for a sequel almost 20 years ago when they finished work on the original movie. He recalled:...

“A Knight’s Tale” director Brian Helgeland revealed in a career retrospective interview with Inverse that his efforts to make a sequel to his 2001 medieval action-comedy classic were apparently thwarted by the Netflix algorithm.
“When we finished ‘A Knight’s Tale,’ we were already thinking about making the sequel as a pirate film,” Helgeland said. “The plot revolved around Count Adhemar (Rufus Sewell) kidnapping Jocelyn (Shannyn Sossamon) and taking her to Constantinople. They end up as galley slaves after their boat is captured by pirates. There’s a prisoner on the boat who has a treasure map tattooed on his back, but he keeps getting flogged for indiscipline. The guys volunteer to take turns getting flogged in this prisoner’s place, so the map isn’t erased. Sony didn’t want to do it.”

Many iconic characters have appeared in the Marvel Cinematic Universe ever since the release of Iron Man back in 2008. However, not many characters have been able to make as huge an impact on the franchise as Tony Stark has.

Despite being one of the most intelligent characters in multiple universes, Tony Stark was just too lazy to give a creative name to one of its most helpful AI, Jarvis. “Animal Control", the single-camera live-action comedy series, created by Bob Fisher, Rob Greenberg and Dan Sterling, was recently renewed for a third season, starring Joel McHale, Michael Rowland, Vella Lovell, Ravi Patel, Grace Palmer and Gerry Dee, premiering Season 2, March 6, 2024 on Fox:
“…’Animal Control’ follows a group of local Animal Control workers whose lives are complicated by the fact that animals are simple, but humans are not.
“‘Frank’ is an opinionated, eccentric Animal Control officer who may not have gone to college but is still the most well-read person in the room.
“A former cop, Frank tried to expose corruption in his department, but his efforts got him fired, which may explain why he's so cynical and curmudgeonly. He has an almost superhuman ability to understand animals. Humans...not so much…”

Paul Bettany (Vision) revealed at MegaCon 2024 that he will return to the MCU in some capacity moving forward.
The last time fans saw Bettany's Marvel character was in 2021's WandaVision. In that project, he portrayed multiple versions of the character.
Despite this, there has been no official word from Marvel about the return of any of the three versions, which may surprise fans given the open storyline of White Vision in particular.

In Jon Favreau's 2008 film "Iron Man," the title hero (Robert Downey Jr.) was assisted in his high-tech superhero lab by an artificially intelligent butler-like presence named J.A.R.V.I.S. Iron Man's digital butler not only wrangled the hero's complicated engineering projects, but also controlled the even-higher-tech devices in his lab. When Iron Man went out on patrol, J.A.R.V.I.S.'s voice could be heard inside his helmet. J.A.R.V.I.S. was voiced by Paul Bettany. As the Marvel Cinematic Universe continued to grow, so too did Iron Man's computerized friend. Eventually, J.A.R.V.I.S. was shunted into an indestructible android body and renamed Vision (also Bettany).
When Vision became sentient and autonomous, that meant Tony Stark had to program a new computer helper, and invented F.R.I.D.A.Y. (voiced by Kerry Condon...

WandaVision may have premiered over two years ago, but there are still gems to uncover surrounding Marvel’s Disney+ series starring Elizabeth Olsen and Paul Bettany. (Credit: Courtesy of Marvel Studios/Disney+) Chronicling the strange suburban life Wanda Maximoff (Olsen) and Vision (Bettany) find themselves living in, WandaVision brings viewers through the decades of television in each episode ranging from black-and-white classics of the ’50s to modern-day mockumentary formats reminiscent of Modern Family. Hollywood works in phases. We’re in the middle of a vast superhero movie phase, which, maybe, seems to be on the downslide. Twenty-five years ago, war movies were all the rage in the wake of Saving Private Ryan, and once those taped off, historical epics became the blockbuster of choice for studios. Indeed, it was the smash success of Braveheart and Gladiator that paved the way for this run of films which started to tape off in the mid-aughts after a few mammothly pricey films, such as The Last Samurai and Troy, only earned modest profits for their studios. One such film was 20th Century Fox’s Master and Commander: The Far Side of the World. It earned critical raves but cost too much to become the franchise Fox was hoping for, with it being based on a long-running series of books by Patrick O’Brien. Yet, the movie holds...

As Wimbledon wows the crowds in London and tennis drama Challengers is set to open the Venice film festival next month, we serve up the best on-screen matches – but who has the advantage?
An odd, rather contrived attempt to weld a Richard Curtis-type Anglo-American romcom to a tennis movie, demonstrating that maybe a whole film about tennis is just a bit too much and it’s better just to have one or two tennis scenes. Paul Bettany is the has-been Brit player who flukes a wildcard at Wimbledon, meets-cute with a rising US superstar played by Kirsten Dunst and they fall in love. As ever with tennis films, the difficulty is suspending disbelief that Bettany and Dunst are hitting and returning actual shots, never mind playing to championship level.

Discovery+ and HBO Max are debuting Funny or Die’s High Science, a hijinks-filled docuseries that focuses on “real facts from the cutting edge of human knowledge.”

Robert Zemeckis, Eric Roth, and Tom Hanks have already proven to be a recipe for success, which is why it's so exciting that the trio behind "Forrest Gump" are reuniting for the film adaptation of Richard McGuire's critically-acclaimed graphic novel, "Here." The source material is fascinating, as it tells the story of multiple timelines centered on one New England location — first as wilderness and later becoming the site of a home — where multiple stories play out across generations. In addition to Hanks, "Here" will also star Kelly Reilly, Robin Wright, and Paul Bettany.
As the story takes place over the course of numerous lifetimes, it would have been unsurprising to learn if Zemeckis gathered a star-studded ensemble to round out his cast. However, this is Robert "Who Framed Roger Rabbit" Zemeckis we're talking about, so of course he's got something more technological up his cinematic sleeve. Rather than cast additional actors,...

Wandavision actor Paul Bettany was convinced to do a Lars von Trier project by his fellow Marvel actor Stellan Skarsgård. But doing the feature wasn’t the experience that Bettany was told it would be.

Bettany and Skarsgård once co-starred in Lars von Trier’s provocative movie Dogville alongside Nicole Kidman. But over the years, Bettany has been very vocal about his less than pleasant experience doing the feature. Initially, he might not have even starred in the project if it wasn’t for Skarsgård’s recommendation.
“It was a hideous experience. I did it because Stellan f***ing Skarsgård fibbed to me. He said, ‘You gotta turn up, it’ll be fantastic, it’s like a party all the time,” Bettany once said according to Irish Examiner.

Paul Bettany Looked To Hugh Laurie, Dick Van Dyke, And Bryan Cranston As Inspiration For WandaVision
Paul Bettany is quite the vision (pun intended) in "WandaVision." You'd think a synthezoid won't have much to offer where emotional complexity is concerned, but the Marvel Cinematic Universe's resident android is a pretty well-rounded guy. Bettany's Vision is a riot alongside Elizabeth Olsen's Wanda Maximoff, whose sense of self-made justice propels her into holding an entire town hostage. The McU's first-ever limited series is easily one of its best ... if not the best. The story is intriguing, and it helps that you can never guess Wanda's next move. As for Vision: he's a cheerful android who oozes hot dad energy and seamlessly fits into Wanda's WestView: a community where sitcoms become a reality.
Bettany nailed Vision: He was charming, likable, and had plenty of inspiration to drive his performance. The comic-book character holds excellent comedic timing in the limited series — thanks in part to "The Dick Van Dyke Show...

The wig gives it away, otherwise we’d be hard-pressed to immediately – or even slowly – recognize Paul Bettany’s fast-talking, extroverted and inquisitive artist character in Anthony McCarten’s The Collaboration as that historic icon of cryptic, mumbled monosyllables Andy Warhol.
Unfortunately, Bettany isn’t the only thing that feels smudged in this ’80s-set paint-by-numbers and highly fictionalized dual bio-play about Warhol and Jean-Michel Basquiat, opening tonight in a Manhattan Theatre Club production at the Samuel J. Friedman Theatre on Broadway.
Directed by Kwame Kwei-Armah and inspired by the real life 1984 painting collaboration of the aging (at least in terms of artistic relevance) Warhol and the soaring Basquiat – a project presented so much more convincingly and movingly in the 1996 film Basquiat, starring Jeffrey Wright and, in the definitive performance of Warhol, David Bowie, who haunts this play like a shadow – The Collaboration is an oddly lifeless endeavor, a failure in...

Marvel fans think they know who Heartstopper star Joe Locke will play in the WandaVision spin-off.

While details surrounding Locke’s casting are being kept under wraps, fans are already speculating which Marvel character he will be playing – and they already have a good idea.

Bettany is a longtime Marvel vet who has been with the MCU since its first film, 2008’s Iron Man, in which he voiced Tony Stark’s A.I., Jarvis. He helped lead Marvel Studios into the Disney+ era with WandaVision, which earned him an Emmy nomination and launched a separate spinoff, House of Harkness, which stars Kathryn Hahn.

Vision is eyeing his own TV series: Marvel is developing a WandaVision spinoff for Disney+ with Paul Bettany set to reprise his role as Vision, according to our sister site Deadline.
The series — tentatively titled Vision Quest, with a writers’ room reportedly starting up next week — will be about Vision “trying to regain his memory and humanity” after the events of WandaVision. (Viewers will remember that Vision, after his death in Avengers: Infinity War, was resurrected as part of his wife Wanda’s sitcom dream world, while the original Vision was reconstructed and reactivated by S.W.O.R.D.

“Vision Quest,” a new Marvel Studios series focusing on Paul Bettany’s title android superhero character, is in the works at Disney+, TheWrap has learned. The series, along with “Agatha: House of Harkness,” marks the second spinoff show based on the popular “WandaVision.”
The show is set to open a writers room next week, and will focus on Vision’s attempts to regain his memory and humanity. The character made his last appearance in the eponymous “WandaVision,” which was set after his death in “Avengers: Infinity War” and showed him as a projection of Wanda Maximoff’s (Elizabeth Olsen) grief.
Toward the end of “WandaVision,” the so-called White Vision was employed as a weapon to destroy Wanda, the fake Vision and their creation of the Westview anomaly. Given the fact that the character has experienced a “rebirth” of sorts, the series is likely to pick up in the aftermath of the show’s finale,...

A second WandaVision spinoff series focusing on Paul Bettany’s Vision is in the works at Marvel Studios for Disney+, sources tell Deadline.
Titled Vision Quest, the potential series, which is opening a writers room next week, will be about The Vision (Bettany) trying to regain his memory and humanity, I hear. While the focus is on Vision, word is there is a possibility for Wanda Maximoff (Elizabeth Olsen) to appear, which would make sense given how interconnected the two characters’ stories are in the MCU.
Like with the other WandaVision spinoff, the greenlighted series Agatha: House of Harkness headlined by Kathryn Hahn, Vision Quest is overseen by WandaVision creator, writer and executive producer Jac Schaeffer, I hear. Reps for Marvel Studios and Bettany declined comment.
The new spinoff is being unofficially referred to by some as the White Vision project after the most recent on-screen version of the character.

Paul Bettany has the distinction of being on the ground floor of the Marvel Cinematic Universe along with Robert Downey Jr. In the original Iron Man and subsequent sequels, Bettany played the voice of Tony Stark’s AI system, Jarvis, before being given an on-screen character of the android, Vision. Bettany continued his run into the Disney+ series, WandaVision, where the character has had a kind of resurrection after his demise in Avengers: Infinity War.
The character that held such an important role in Wanda Maximoff’s life was not shown in Doctor Strange in the Multiverse of Madness, but now ScreenRant (via a scoop from Jeff Sneider’s Hot Mic Podcast) reports that a new series is in development at Disney+ that will continue the adventures of the intelligent android. The studio is reportedly about to open up a writer’s room for a show with the working title Vision Quest.

During her career, Elizabeth Olsen has played a broad range of characters, from a damaged cult escapee in 2011’s “Martha Marcy May Marlene,” to an in-over-her-head FBI agent investigating a murder in “Wind River,” to a narcissistic influencer in “Ingrid Goes West” — and, of course, the tragic, terrifying Wanda Maximoff (aka Scarlet Witch) in the Marvel Cinematic Universe. Next year, she’ll star in “Love & Death,” an HBO Max limited series about Candy Montgomery, a Texas homemaker who in 1980 had an affair with her friend’s husband — and then murdered her friend, hitting her 41 times with an axe. It’s based on a true story.
Yet “Love & Death,” written by David E. Kelley, and directed by Lesli Linka Glatter, isn’t grim, according to Olsen — in fact, “I think we were trying to find the humor as much as possible,” she says. And as for playing a murderer in Candy,...
