This piece of CG fan art created by artist Felipe Ferreira awesomely reimagines Donald Duck as an evil looking cyborg. The first thing I imagined when I saw this thing, was it tagging along with The Terminator as he's hunting down and trying to kill Sarah Connor in The Terminator. The thought of that just makes me smile.
The digital piece above was inspired by an original sketch by artist Jake Parker, which you can check out below.

After so many years of waiting, Star Wars: The Force Awakens managed to bring back plenty of emotions and thrills. The movie gradually revealed what happened to some of the heroes that we have loved (and still love), and also introduced us to a bunch of new characters and their mysterious stories. While we wait for the release of Episode VIII, fans and artists try to kill some time by showing off amazing cosplays, mashups, illustrations, and more.
Jake Parker, an artist from Utah, has transformed familiar Star Wars vehicles into gigantic monsters. The art print features a Tie fighter, Death Star, the Millennium Falcon, and many others which are also reimagined in a monstrously incredible way.
All of the prints can be purchased directly from the illustrator’s online shop.

Bone: Out from Boneville Tribute Edition
By Jeff Smith
192 ages, Scholastic Graphix, $14.95
Bone is a phenomenon that just keeps growing, it seems. Jeff Smith’s self-published debuted in 1991 and charmed readers who discovered the black and white fantasy. However, he found a brand new audience when Scholastic added the series, in color for the first time, to their Graphix imprint. There now are the nine volumes, Rose (with art by Charles Vess), Tall Tales, Bone Handbook and three illustrated prose novels from Tom Sniegoski.
To celebrate the tenth anniversary of this incredibly successful partnership, Scholastic is releasing next week a hardcover Tribute Edition of volume one. The complete, still-charming is on hand but there is also additional material. We start with the 10-page poem “An Ode to Quiche”, written by and critiqued by the monsters who plague the fellow from Boneville. There are nine pinups culled from the other...

Artist Jake Parker is in the process of creating a series of Marvel character art. So far he has done Captain America, Wolverine, Hulk, Iron Man, and Spider-Man. I also included one he made of Boba Fett, which is pretty awesome as well. He has a very fun style to his art and it would make a pretty cool poster series. Like much of the poster art that comes from independent artists, a lot of these are better than what the studios pump out. ...

Have you ever wondered what you'd see if you sliced though Lightning McQueen from Pixar's Cars? Yeah, me neither, but comic artist and designer Jake Parker did, and he brought his vision to life for all to see!
Now that this is out there, it's kind of interesting to think about these cars, and how they have engines that run on gasoline, but at the same time have biological human features such as eyes and a tongue. So I guess it makes sense that they would have some kind of human-like biology to them.
What do you think about the inner workings created for McQueen and Mater?

Jennifer Chaney Michael Chabon
Fans of Michael Chabon’s comic book-infused literary novels may be surprised to learn that he’s written an illustrated children’s book about a superhero named Awesome Man.
Not surprised that he’s written it, but surprised that it’s taken him this long.
“The Astonishing Secret of Awesome Man,” out this week, is irony-inflected, funny and sincere all at once, much like Mr. Chabon’s adult works (except that it’s 700 words long, just...

Missile Mouse: Rescue on Tankium3
By Jake Parker
Scholastic/Graphix, 160 pages, $10.99
Aimed at readers 7-9, Missile Mouse is a cute, bright and colorful space adventure series. Jake Parker, who works at Blue Sky Studios, home to the Ice Age movies, certainly knows how to tell a story and create visually interesting worlds.
His first offering, last year’s The Star Crusher, introduced us to the maverick law-enforcement agent, Missile Mouse, who works for the Galactic Security Agency. Why he does not wear their uniform or follow the rules is never explained but clearly he’s one of those can-do heroes despite fighting with the higher ups.
Parker has publically stated his love for creating the worlds and races that make up the Galactic Union but while they look interesting, they’re thin as paper with no depth to them. The first book was wall-to-wall action with a mystery that was obvious.

Kaiser Chiefs rocker Andrew White has signed up to take part in an attempt to break the world record for the largest ever scooter rally. The British guitarist will join more than 540 other riders to cross the length of the Humber Bridge in Kingston Upon Hull, England next month.
White's attendance has been confirmed by organizers of the Grimsby And Cleethorpes Scooter Scene, with committee member Jake Parker telling Grimsby.co.uk, "To have Andrew White riding his scooter over the Humber Bridge... will be amazing. We were absolutely stunned when we found out he was coming... It would be absolutely brilliant for the town if we broke the world record."
The event will take place on August 14.

Missile Mouse #1: The Star Crusher
By Jake Parker
Scholastic Graphix, 172 pages, $10.99
Introduced in the Flight anthology, Missile Mouse is the plucky secret agent for the Galactic Security Agency, described as a “risk taker and a rule breaker”. Clad in his yellow and red flight suit, he performs missions that seem to earn him a broad reputation across the galaxy, which is odd considering he’s well, a secret agent.
Jake Parker, an animator for Blue Sky Studios, takes his resident rodent and produces his first graphic novel, The Star Crusher, already billed as a series with a second volume due in January 2011. The question, though, is what is new and different here? Plucky, rule-breaking solo adventurer? Seen it before. In hot water with his blustery boss? Ditto. Thwarted time and again by his arch rival? Yep.
The brisk read pretty much is comfortable junk food, quickly consumed and easily forgotten.
