"You're like a fluffy piece of cotton candy with legs!" Netflix has revealed an official trailer for Thelma the Unicorn, an animated musical comedy from filmmakers Jared Hess & Lynn Wang. Made by Mikros Animation and Netflix Animation, along with Buzzfeed Studios, Matchbox Hero, Scholastic Entertainment. Thelma is a small-time pony who dreams of becoming a glamorous music star. In a moment of fate, Thelma is transformed into a unicorn and she instantly rises to global stardom, but this new life of fame comes at a cost. This animated comedy stars singer / songwriter Brittany Howard as the voice of Thelma, along with Will Forte, Jemaine Clement, Edi Patterson, Maliaka Mitchell, Ally Dixon, Fred Armisen, Zach Galifianakis, and Jon Heder. This looks way, way too similar to the Sing series of movies, with singing animals competing in competitions. Though I do like the plot in this being inspired by being fake (on...

Movie-goers will know that we’ve had a surge of video-game and toy-based films in recent years, most of which have done good. There’s The Lego Movie, the new Super Mario animated film, Barbie, and more… and Minecraft, one of the most popular games in history, is slated to become the most recent addition to this list. The movie has been announced a while ago and is set for an April 4, 2025 release, and we have finally seen some shots from the filming, which is now in process.
The movie is filmed in New Zealand, as far as it is known, and while it was originally slated to start in 2023, the SAG-AFTRA strike postponed the production of the movie and while it had begun by mid-January 2024, the delays are obvious. Still, based on the release date, there will be enough time to make the movie properly.

This Is Spinal Tap is one of the most quotable films in cinema history and defined the genre of film known today as the mockumentary.
Rob Reiner’s 1984 directorial debut about an aging English metal band chronicled fame, groupies and their fateful tour and would set the bar for the style of film to satirize a subject depicting fictional events but presented as a documentary. With only two films in James Cameron’s Avatar series since 2009, it is challenging to imagine the existence of five installments by 2031, let alone two more movies later. That’s right, folks. I said two more movies! According to James Cameron, he has ideas for Avatar 6 and Avatar 7, but there’s a twist. Instead of dedicating the remainder of his mortality to the effects-driven, money-printing franchise, he could pass the torch to another filmmaker.
Speaking with Collider about the Avatar franchise’s future, Cameron said, “We’re fully written through movie five, and I’ve got ideas for six and seven, although I’ll probably be handing the baton on at that point,” he said. “I mean, mortality catches up. But I mean, we’re enjoying what we’re doing. We’re loving it. We get to work with great people.”

Duncan Jones is back with a brand new project titled Rogue Trooper, an animated adaptation of the same-titled comic book from 2000 Ad.
Variety reports, “The animated film, which is being created with Epic’s 3D tool Unreal Engine 5, was adapted by Jones from the comic book published by 2000 Ad.
“Rogue Trooper, produced by Rebellion and Liberty Films, has wrapped principal photography at Rebellion Film Studios in the U.K. The film is set to be finished next year.”
“Rogue Trooper tells the story of 19, a “Genetic Infantryman,” who finds himself the sole-survivor of an invasion force. Desperate to track down the traitor who sold him and his comrades out, the super soldier is accompanied by three killed-in-action squad mates, whose personalities have been stored in his gun, helmet and rucksack.”
Aneurin Barnard, Hayley Atwell, Jack Lowden, Daryl McCormack and Reece Shearsmith are attached to star, with Variety noting that Barnard will play the title character.

Hayley Atwell has reportedly joined the cast of director Duncan Jones’ animated Rogue Trooper movie, based on the 2000 Ad comic strip of the same name. It’s even wrapped filming!
Word that Moon and Source Code director Duncan Jones was attached to a film adaptation of the 2000 Ad comic strip Rogue Trooper first broke over five years ago, before the world descended into a maelstrom of global disease, military invasions and AI-driven societal collapse – exactly the sort of dystopian stuff you might expect to find in those British sci-fi comics.
After years of eerie silence, though, it sounds as though the adaptation is much further along than we’d previously thought, with Variety reporting that Rogue Trooper has been cast and is already well into production. It’ll star Aneurin Barnard as the title’s genetically-enhanced super soldier. Supporting him will be Hayley Atwell, Jack Lowden (who also appeared in...

Duncan Jones made an incredible debut with his Sam Rockwell-starring sci-fi, Moon. However, his follow-ups haven’t collected as much acclaim with the Groundhog Day-on-a-train thriller Source Code, his step into the big-budget franchise world with Warcraft, and his high-concept Netflix sci-fi, Mute. For years, Jones has been developing an adaptation of the comic Rogue Trooper, which is to be an animated feature. The production has been rolling along, and Variety has revealed the cast of actors that Jones has been able to compile for the film.

How’s this for the most unlikely ensemble cast? Deadline reports that “SNL” alum Kate McKinnon and New Zealand comedic actor Jermaine Clement are the latest to join Jason Momoa in the Warner Bros. adaptation of “Minecraft.” The news comes just one day after Jennifer Coolidge joined the cast of the upcoming blockbuster. That’s quite the motley crew for one movie, which on paper looks like a good hang for all involved.

Harvey Guillén, who portrays Guillermo in What We Do In The Shadows, has given us a hint of what’s coming up in the sixth and final season for the show and his character.
“We start where we left off and sometimes dreams and aspirations don’t turn out the way we want them to, (spoiler alert if you haven’t seen Season 5)”, he told Deadline on the red carpet of the Critics Choice Awards, last night where he was nominated in the supporting actor category. “But I think that’s the whole point of rebirth right? It’s like a renaissance. It’s happening again and you take a new direction, new ideas, new approach so I’m really excited for the audience to see a new layer to Guillermo.

Dig your business socks out from the back of your dresser drawer because it might be business time before you know it! Rhys Darby recently spoke with Deadline at the Creative Arts Emmys and informed the outlet that a Flight of the Conchords reunion could be on the horizon. Flight of the Conchords is a comedic musical duo out of New Zealand featuring Jemaine Clement and Bret McKenzie. Flight of the Conchords is also the name of the band’s HBO series that launched in 2007 and ran for two seasons before getting canceled. Darby plays the band’s manager, Murray Hewitt, in the show, and now there are rumblings of getting the band back together.
“We’re always discussing the sort of things we’d like to do in the future and looking back at the classic things we’ve done,” Darby told Deadline on Saturday. “There will come a time when the world really,...

New Zealander Rhys Darby made a splash in the U.S. in 2007 for his portrayal of band manager Murray Hewitt in HBO’s Flight of the Conchords, a series that ended after only two short seasons. And while he and his co-stars Jemaine Clement and Bret McKenzie have all moved on to other projects, the trio might surprise fans one day with a reunion.
“We’re always discussing the sort of things we’d like to do in the future and looking back at the classic things we’ve done,” Darby revealed to Deadline at the Creative Arts Emmy Awards on Saturday, where he presented statuettes in multiple categories. “There will come a time when the world really, really needs [the reunion] and we will suddenly appear.”

Pop star Rita Ora and Marvel director Taika Waititi first met in 2018 but didn’t spark romance rumors until 2021 before making their official debut as a couple. One year later, they tied the knot during a private ceremony in Los Angeles.
Ora opened up about their relationship in an interview with Vogue saying: “We met in LA and it was through friends and it was amazing. It was very casual … It was just a natural thing. We were both in Australia doing two separate jobs … and we kind of hung out and that was it. We went to a friend’s birthday party, and it all clicked.”
Now fans have some other questions about the pair including how much younger the singer is than her husband and who has the higher net worth.

What We Do In The Shadows will end with its upcoming season 6, it’s been announced: more on the news here.
What We Do In The Shadows began life as a feature film in 2014, written and directed by Flight Of The Concords star Jemaine Clement and Taika Waititi. The latter of those two has gone on to direct Jojo Rabbit and has become a creative force in the Marvel Cinematic Universe, directing Thor: Ragnarok and Thor: Love and Thunder, infusing the franchise with his signature humorous approach (even if he took the job to keep food on the table.)
What We Do In The Shadows inspired two television series. The first was Wellington Paranormal, which began in 2016 and followed police officers Minogue and O’Leary, played by Mike Minogue and Karen O’Leary respectively, who were minor characters in the film. It ran for four seasons from 2018 to 2022.

Vampires might be immortal (unless they step out into the sunlight ... or they get set on fire ... or you stab a pointed wooden stake through their heart ... or you chuck holy water on them ... maybe we need to come up with a different word than "immortal"?), but TV shows, alas, are not -- not even our favorite ones. So it is that the sun will soon rise on "What We Do in the Shadows," the wonderfully weird and queer -- not to mention often gory and always horny -- supernatural horror-comedy mockumentary series spun off from the cult film of the same name.
Like so many other ongoing shows, "What We Do in the Shadows" was set to begin production on its latest season this year ... that is, of course, before the major American studios and streamers decided they would rather bring the film and TV industry to a standstill...

Last year, FX ordered two more seasons of their vampire comedy series What We Do in the Shadows, which would be the fifth and sixth seasons of the show. Season 5 started airing back in July and wrapped up at the end of August, and we can expect to see season 6 sometime next year. Unfortunately, there’s now a bittersweet edge to knowing that season 6 is on the way, as The Hollywood Reporter has broken the news that the sixth season of What We Do in the Shadows will also be the show’s last.
According to The Hollywood Reporter, FX “will bring its comedy What We Do in the Shadows to a close with its sixth season. The series is entering the back half of a two-season renewal that will take the show to its conclusion.“

FX‘s vampire roommate comedy What We Do in the Shadows, inspired by the 2014 film of the same name, will officially end with its upcoming sixth season. Created by Jemaine Clement and inspired by his film of the same name with series executive producer Taika Waititi, What We Do in the Shadows debuted in 2019 and has delivered five seasons full of laughs as the mockumentary-style comedy follows the exploits Nandor (Kayvan Novak), Laszlo (Matt Berry), Nadja (Natasia Demetriou), energy vamp Colin Robinson (Mark Proksch), and their human familiar Guillermo (Harvey Guillén). (Credit: Russ Martin/FX) In Season 5, The Guide (Kristen Schaal) boarded the comedy full-time, playing an integral role in many of the larger plots at play in the now-penultimate season. Executive producer and series director Yana Gorskaya told TV Insider in August that the team behind the show had been in the “early stages” of getting Season 6 when the strikes began.

Put a stake in our hearts: The sixth season of vampire comedy series “What We Do in the Shadows” will be its last according to Vulture.
The outlet confirmed that the series begins production on its sixth season next month, and it’ll be the last season for the effortlessly charming vampire roommates.
“What We Do in the Shadows” wrapped its fifth season earlier this summer on FX.
The fifth season picked up after “Nandor feels his familiar (and sometimes friend) Guillermo slipping away as he seems to be spending much more time with Laszlo. Nadja, suffering the effects of a previously-undiagnosed supernatural hex, reconnects with her family — or at least, a family — from the Old Country. Colin pursues the path of so many energy vampires before him by running for political office and The Guide tries to figure out where she fits in as the relative newcomer to this tightly-knit group.

Updated with clarification: Paramount Television Studios is turning its back on limited series in the U.S., Nicole Clemens has revealed.
Clemens, who runs Ptvs as President, said that she is focused on global stories that “have broader appeal and are propulsive and entertaining” during her Mia Market keynote at the Rome TV and film confab this afternoon.
Miniseries such as Paramount+/Ptvs biographical drama The Offer, which told the story of the making of The Godfather, are a no-go area for the time being.
“The only thing we’re not doing is limited series in the U.S.,” she said. “They are still happening internationally and people are still looking for opportunistic ways to make hit limited series but we are looking for contemporary, ongoing shows.”
Clemens encouraged “big, loud and funny” half-hour comedy pitches from producers, noting the upcoming Paramount+ Frasier revival from CBS Studios, which she oversaw...
