Jessica Maria Montalvo has dedicated her life to the diverse field of education for over 20 years. She has experience in k-12 all the way through graduate school holding various roles such as Spanish teacher, Education Licensing and Accreditation Coordinator, Director of TRIO Student Support Services, and a Director of Student Affairs for pharmacy program. She is also a TRIO alumna along with notable leaders such as John Quinones and Viola Davis.
Montalvo is a native of Fort Wayne, Indiana and graduated with a Bachelor of Arts in Spanish from Indiana University and received her secondary teaching certification from Indiana Purdue Fort Wayne. She later earned a Master of Education from Indiana Wesleyan University and is a Ph.D. candidate at Indiana Tech in the global leadership program.
Her passion for service has translated to her involvement in various creative projects which include an original musical theater production about mental illness written by James Wesley Williams, since its full-cast production opening premiere in 2014 at the Embassy Theater in Fort Wayne, Indiana, with Hollywood actress Cynda Williams as its main protagonist.
She is also a film producer which includes the recent award-winning film short called Grummy, which addresses childhood abuse. It was released in 2021 and written and directed by Micheline Pitt and R.H. Norman. Grummy initiated her first IMDb film credits to date. Her second film producer credit would be for the award-winning film Bodies Will Tumble and Roll, written and directed by Eli Vazquez.
Montalvo is a soon to be published author of Surrender to Rise, a collaboration of women candidly open about their journeys from struggle to success. She is CEO and owner of Flairware Boutique, LLC. Her company specializes in providing handmade vintage inspired accessories highlighting popular aesthetics from the 1950s pinup girl style.
Other accomplishments include her involvement with the Indiana University Latino Alumni Association where she is a lifetime member. During her time in higher education, she established and founded the African American Healthcare Alliance student chapter at Manchester University School of Pharmacy in 2019. In 2020, she established and founded National Hispanic Pharmacists Association student chapter at Manchester University School of Pharmacy. Montalvo was also a contributing writer for Wafi Media where she wrote about relevant issues such as cultural relevancy and mental health. She was also a member of the Board of Directors for Science Central in Fort Wayne, Indiana for two terms of almost seven years.
