While currently housing the immensely popular Tim Burton: The Exhibition, the Acmi is already gearing up for a major new exhibition which will celebrate over 70 years of Disney animation. Acmi Director Tony Sweeney has announced that Dreams Come True: The Art of Disney's Classic Fairy Tales, will be coming to the Acmi direct from the Us this November. Conceived by John Lasseter, Chief Creative Officer at Disney/Pixar Animation Studios, as a cultural gift to the people of post-Katrina New Orleans, the exhibition features over 600 original artworks, maquettes and animation cells from Disney's much-loved movies. The exhibition includes early conceptual and creative artworks from legendary features including Snow White and the Seven Dwarfs, Cinderella, Sleeping Beauty, The Little Mermaid, Beauty and the Beast and The Princess and the Frog.

The Australian Centre for the Moving Image has broken its attendance record, with 100,000 visitors for Tim Burton: The Exhibition since its opening on June 24.
The exhibition has, at this five-week mark, attracted 60 percent more visitors than the previous record holder, Pixar: 20 Years of Animation (2007). It also broke the single biggest day attendance, with 5,300 visitors – compared to 3,600 for Pixar.
“The response from visitors has been incredible; the most resounding response we’ve had to an exhibition in Acmi’s short life and to reach one hundred thousand visitors in only five weeks is really something,” said Acmi Director Tony Sweeney in a statement.
The exhibition was curated by New York’s Museum of Modern Art, where it drew more than 850,000 visitors – making it MoMA’s third most popular exhibition ever.
Tim Burton: The Exhibition will close on October 10.
