Liam Hemsworth, the actor known for portraying the role of Gale Hawthorne in The Hunger Games franchise is all set to wear the big boots of Geralt of Rivia in Netflix’s The Witcher. However, there seems to be a slight problem with Hemsworth’s Witcher.
Henry Cavill as the Geralt of Rivia in The Witcher | Netflix
Fans may know that Geralt of Rivia grunts a lot both in the games as well as in the Netflix series. With Henry Cavill being a gamer himself, he wanted to nail down every aspect of Geralt of Rivia (which includes grunting). Well, Liam Hemsworth’s Witcher allegedly doesn’t.

Wes Ball’s Kingdom of the Planet of the Apes marks a significant departure from its predecessors by integrating complex human stories with the ongoing saga of apes. The film centers on Freya Allan’s portrayal of Mae, a young woman navigating a post-apocalyptic world dominated by intelligent apes. Allan’s performance has been widely praised for its emotional depth and complexity. As the sole significant human character, Mae’s interactions with Owen Teague’s Noa and other ape characters bring new dimensions to the narrative. From Feral to Key Player Initially introduced as a seemingly feral human, Mae quickly proves her intelligence and strategic

Adam McKay’s Hyperobject Industries is set to launch two new comedy podcasts, both humorously anchored in nature. Tiny Dinos premiered on May 7, with episodes dropping weekly on Tuesdays; and Walkin’ About on May 15, 2024, with episodes dropping weekly on Wednesdays. Both series will be available on major podcast platforms, including Apple Podcasts, Spotify and Amazon Music.
McKay says: “Connor, James and Allan are all very talented comedians, and Lord knows we all can use some laughter these days. But they’re also asking questions that boldly challenge the international corporate power structure like ‘What happens if I start taking regular walks?’ And ‘What would happen if we brought dinosaurs back but they were super tiny?’”
Tiny Dinos comes from the imagination of Connor Ratliff, whose Dead Eyes podcast became a fan favorite with many Hollywood actors and filmmakers, and collaborator James III. In Tiny Dinos, Ratliff takes improv to the...

Freya Allan Discloses Mae’s Dramatic Scene Alternatives in Kingdom of the Planet of the Apes Freya Allan’s recent interview shed light on her character Mae’s intense final scene in Kingdom of the Planet of the Apes. Allan, who played opposite Owen Teague’s chimpanzee character Noa, spoke about the emotional depth associated with her role and the changes made during post-production. The emotional impact of that scene was really intense. It made me think deeply about the character’s journey and motivations. Allan remarked on the pivoting point where Mae’s actions could have altered dramatically. Originally, Mae was prepared to act drastically

Kingdom of the Planet of the Apes is now playing in theaters, which means key plot details have begun to find their way online.
In a new interview with THR, star Freya Allan (Mae) discusses the ending and how the original conclusion played out in far less subtle - and quite a bit darker - fashion.
Major spoilers follow.
During the climactic battle, Mae makes a fateful decision to blow open the floodgates and destroy the human tech the villainous Proximus was trying to get his hands on, killing hundreds of apes in the process.
“It’s not what she wants to do," Allan explains. "But it’s that, or Proximus has all these weapons and humanity is screwed. She’s gone through so much, she’s lost all the people she cares about, which was a large part of how I justified everything that she did,” Allan says. “So...

Freya Allan is currently being praised for her standout role in this weekend's new release, Kingdom of the Planet of the Apes. However, many of you will know the actress best for her breakout role in The Witcher.
The Netflix series lost Henry Cavill at the end of season 3 and, after Blood Origin bombed, the next two seasons will be shot back-to-back, ending with a fifth and final batch of episodes (plans for another spin-off, The Rats, have been scrapped).
Talking to Inverse (via SFFGazette.com), Allan - whose role as Ciri put her on the map before being cast in the latest Apes movie - revealed why she's ready to move on from the Continent.
"The Witcher definitely set up a lot for me, just in terms of being my drama school and providing me with a certain level of confidence," the actress said. "You also learn so many random skills.

As a young woman who partners with a chimpanzee on a hunting mission, Allan’s character is involved in plenty of the film’s action. And, although she had the option of using stunt doubles during the filming, Allan insisted on doing as many of her own stunts as she reasonably could. At the end of the "Kingdom of the Planet of the Apes," Mae (Freya Allan) returns to the Eagle-raising ape clan to say farewell to Noa (Owen Teague), telling him that humans should be allowed to return to their position as the dominant species. Noa tells her that doing so would stifle the freedom the apes are currently experiencing. The metaphorical genie can't be put back in the bottle, so to speak. But then the audience sees that she's holding a gun behind her back. It's a chilling moment reinforcing the tyrannical Proximus Caesar's belief that Mae is looking out for humans and no one else. It's a shock to the system considering everything the two have been through, and it also leaves the ending up to interpretation. Was she there to kill him? Was the gun a...

The post contains major spoilers for "Kingdom of the Planet of the Apes."
After a seven-year break, the "Planet of the Apes" franchise has finally returned with a new installment, one that takes us much further than seven years into the future. Director Wes Ball's "Kingdom of the Planet of the Apes" takes place centuries after the Caesar trilogy in the overall timeline, with apes now firmly the dominant species on the planet. So yes, there is a new ape villain at the center of the proceedings in the form of Proximus Caesar (played by Kevin Durand). However, the film's real villain was hidden pretty well in the marketing -- even though right there the whole time.
The film sees Noa (Owen Teague) seeking out the sect of apes led by Proximus, who annihilated his home, killed his father, and kidnapped Noa's clan. Along the way, he and his...

[This story contains spoilers for Kingdom of the Planet of the Apes.]
Wes Ball’s Kingdom of the Planet of the Apes is not just an ape story like the Caesar-led Apes trilogy of the 2010s. Kingdom is just as much a human story, and Freya Allan’s Mae is the human in that equation. Centuries after Caesar’s (Andy Serkis) death, Mae first crosses paths with Owen Teague’s young chimpanzee, Noa, as she attempts to survive in the wilderness alone. However, she inadvertently leads Proximus Caesar’s (Kevin Durand) coastal clan of hostile apes to Noa’s village, and the communal home of his Eagle Clan is subsequently destroyed, while many of his fellow apes and family members are either slaughtered or abducted.
Noa narrowly survives the attack and makes the trek to the coast in order to rescue his loved ones, before encountering a wise orangutan named Raka (Peter Macon). Together, they...

Up until 2023, The Witcher was one of the best book-based storylines ever transformed into a live-action series, and one of the biggest reasons behind its tremendous success was Henry Cavill’s effortless performance as the Geralt of Rivia. But then Cavill was replaced, with Liam Hemsworth becoming the new protagonist of the lore — though not without earning much backlash from fans.

Following somewhat tepid entries to the series with 2014’s Dawn of the Planet of the Apes and 2017’s War for the Planet of the Apes, director Wes Ball assumes the reigns of the franchise from Matt Reeves and succeeds in resuscitating the dormant franchise with a new vigor and excitement that makes the new entry to the series – Kingdom of the Planet of the Apes – an incredibly rewarding trip to the cinema.

Directed by Wes Ball (the Maze Runner movies), Kingdom of the Planet of the Apes is the fourth film in the Planet of the Apes reboot franchise and the tenth Apes film overall, if you include Tim Burton’s 2001 version. The new film is set 300 years after the events of War of the Planet of the Apes (2017) and is clearly intended as the first instalment of a new trilogy, even if the marketing hasn’t shouted about that all too loudly.
After a short prelude depicting the ceremonial funeral of Caesar (the noble leader of the apes and the hero of the previous movies), a caption explains that a virus has all but wiped out mankind and apes are now the dominant species on Earth.

The Witcher star Freya Allan is urging fans to give Liam Hemsworth a chance as he takes over from Henry Cavill as Geralt of Rivia for the fourth season of the Netflix fantasy drama. Hemsworth was announced as Cavill’s replacement in October 2022, and the recasting was met with mixed reactions. Some of the more hardcore fans weren’t happy with the change, especially after the awkward way Cavill left the series, with creative differences reported to be the driving issue. Cavill is a self-confessed fan of The Witcher book and video game series. In a recent interview with Collider, Allan, who plays Princess Cirilla of Cintra (aka Ciri), said she hopes viewers will go easy on Hemsworth as he steps into Cavill’s shoes. “I don’t want to speak for [Hemsworth], but from what I’ve understood, I feel like he’s really wanting to try and bring the heart,...

After 2017’s masterful War of the Planet of the Apes, which completed the trilogy that started with 2011’s Rise and 2014’s Dawn and told the epic story of wise leader Caesar and the apes who created this whole new world, I really thought there was nowhere else to go with this franchise that had itself started so brilliantly in 1968 with the original starring Charlton Heston as an astronaut who lands in this futuristic world dominated by intelligent apes. Many other iterations would come, even a side foray by Tim Burton, but it was that most recent trilogy that really popped. But being box office successes, 20th Century’s new owner Disney knew there was more to be mined, and they were right.

John Carpenter wasn’t that impressed with Christopher Nolan’s “Oppenheimer.”
The “Thing” director called Nolan’s Best Picture-winning historical drama just “Ok” in an interview for journalist Larry Fitzmaurice’s “Last Donut of the Night” newsletter.
“‘Oppenheimer’ was Ok. It was alright,” Carpenter said. “Everyone’s praising it as the movie of the century — I don’t know about that.”
But is Carpenter a fan of Nolan’s films in general?
“Yeah, I guess, sure,” he added.
The director instead pivoted and pointed to another 2024 Academy Award contender, saying, “I don’t want to talk about things that I haven’t enjoyed. I liked ‘Maestro’ a great deal. I thought that was terrific.”
And it turns out that Carpenter wasn’t crazy about the “Barbenheimer” craze as a whole. The filmmaker told the “Last Donut of the Night” newsletter his thoughts on “Barbie,” simply stating, “Did I like it?...

Owen Elliot-Kugell, the daughter of late The Mamas & the Papas member Cass Elliot, is setting the record straight on her mother’s death in her new memoir, My Mama, Cass.
In July 1974, Cass passed away in London from a heart attack when Elliot-Kugell was 7-years-old, dying in her sleep at age 32. However, an urban legend spread claiming that the singer had died from choking on a ham sandwich.
“In my younger years, when people would talk to me about my mom, it was always about the stupid sandwich,” Elliot-Kugell told People magazine. “I would go over to kids’ houses after school and eventually one of their parents would ask me, ‘Did your mom really die choking on a ham sandwich?’ First of all, the chutzpah to say that to a child is just crazy but it happened a lot. So I felt it was my duty to figure out what that story was all about.

So I felt it was my duty to figure out what that story was all about.

Alberto Corredor's Baghead is the most recent example of "well, that would have been better as a short film." Mainly because, well, it is better as a short film. Corredor adapts the truncated version of Baghead written by Lorcan Reilly into the scattershot feature now on Shudder. New screenwriters Christina Pamies and Bryce McGuire struggle to extend the fifteen-minute original into an engaging hour and a half, especially during its bloated second act. Corredor crisply accentuates the mildewy and eerie atmosphere that saturates an outdated basement architecture, but by the end, falls victim to the usual follies that come with shorts-turned-features unable to sustain their big-screen treatments.
The Witcher star Freya Allan plays Iris Lark, a young woman who inherits her dad's rickety drinking establishment, The Queen's Head. With nowhere else to live, she signs her name on the deed — but her decision comes at a price. During Iris' first night as owner,...

Channel 4 Bonuses Are “Slap In The Face” For Fired Staffers & Ailing Freelance Workforce, Bectu Says
“A slap in the face” was the verdict of broadcasting union Bectu to Channel 4 bosses’ decision to accept bonuses this year amidst a 250-staff layoff program.
Deadline revealed yesterday that the network’s CEO Alex Mahon, content boss Ian Katz and Chief Operating Officer Jonathan Allan would be taking their bonuses in 2024, although at reduced rates.
Responding, Bectu Head Philippa Childs pointed to the optics of the bonuses being taken at a time when freelance community morale is at an all-time low. Channel 4’s Remuneration Committee would have rubberstamped the bonuses around the time the broadcaster began implementing a 250-staff layoff program, which is seeing commissioning teams shrunk back amidst tricky economic headwinds and a slowdown in commissioning.
“Hot on the heels of recent announcements of mass redundancies at the broadcaster, this will come as a slap in the face to both those at risk of redundancy and the...

Exclusive: Channel 4 bosses will take home reduced bonuses in 2024 as 250 staffers are laid off.
Deadline can reveal that the vast majority of Channel 4 staff will receive a bonus this year around half the level of 2023, including CEO Alex Mahon, content boss Ian Katz and Chief Operating Officer Jonathan Allan. The trio will see their pay reduced by around 30% to 40% from last year’s record highs, we are also told.
The decision on bonuses was recently rubberstamped by the network’s Remuneration Committee and a Channel 4 spokesman told Deadline the bonus was calculated from the network’s “annual targets, remit and business goals.” This decision to award them bonuses was made in the past few weeks as the redundancy program has been in full flow – the biggest such program initiated by the broadcaster for 15 years.

"All in the Family" might've been Norman Lear's finest half-hour as a sitcom producer, but I'm not sure he ever put a funnier show on the airwaves than "The Jeffersons." For 11 seasons, Sherman Hemsley's dry-cleaning magnate George Jefferson and Isabel Sanford's good-hearted Louise "Weezy" Jefferson led a stellar cast that delivered edgy-for-network-television laughs revolving around race, class, gender, and whatever happened to be grinding the hot-headed George's gears that particular week. It was the African-American answer to "All in the Family" (on which the characters of George and Weezy originated), and might actually be more shocking today for its fearless deployment of the n-word (particularly early in the series' run).
And if you're making a list of the most memorable theme songs in television history, "The Jeffersons" better be in the top five. Anyone who grew up watching the show in prime time or via syndication should...

Jeff Margolis will never forget his first time directing the Academy Awards — we won’t let him.
This year marks the 35th anniversary of the 61st Academy Awards. You may not remember that “Rain Man” won Best Picture, Barry Levinson Best Director, Dustin Hoffman Best Actor, and Jodie Foster Best Actress for “The Accused.” But seared into our collective subconscious is the production number that opened the show — already, you’re cringing at the thought — featuring Snow White and Rob Lowe.
To this day, clickbait headlines (from The Guardian in 2019: “How Snow White and Some Coconuts Killed the 1989 Oscars”) are a testament to that debacle’s enduring legacy. Hollywood, nor the world, had never seen anything like it, which was kind of the whole point of the thing, according to Margolis, who spoke to IndieWire about his memories of what Collider just last year proclaimed, “the worst moment in Oscars history…...

Barbie already featured one of the most star-studded casts in recent memory, and Michael Cera just revealed another A-list actor who was supposed to appear in the very pink blockbuster.
The 35-year-old played Ken’s best friend Allan (a discontinued doll), and his character emerged as a fan favorite. That was especially the case after he sided with the Barbies against the Kens.
Allan even faced off against a bunch of domineering Kens to protect Sasha (Ariana Greenblatt) and Gloria (America Ferrera) in one funny scene.
However, during a recent appearance Michael revealed that he wasn’t initially supposed to do any fighting. That only changed after the planned cameo fell through.

Amy Schumer was one of several actresses tied to Barbie before Margot Robbie joined the cast of 2023′s biggest and pinkest blockbuster.
The 42-year-old comedian has shown love to the movie that made it to theaters a couple of times.
However, in a new interview she touched on her scrapped version of the movie. She also revealed the very specific role that she’d like to play if Margot‘s take on the film gets a sequel.

Freya Allan clearly hasn’t gotten her fill of working on material that involves magic and monsters with her role on the Netflix series The Witcher, as she also has the lead role in the new horror film Baghead, which is set to reach theatres in the UK this Friday, January 26th. With that release date swiftly approaching, a short clip from Baghead has made its way online, and you can check it out in the embed above. UTA is shuffling its East Coast leadership, installing partner and co-head of entertainment marketing Julian Jacobs as the head of its 300-plus-employee New York office, as Allan Haldeman returns to LA.
Haldeman, who had been tasked in 2022 with spearheading growth in New York across several verticals, will continue to co-run the agency’s TV lit department after relocating to be with his family. As co-head of the agency’s theater business, Haldeman will continue to travel to New York for client meetings.
Jacobs started in UTA’s agency training program nearly 15 years ago, eventually going on to help start the company’s entertainment marketing practice. After moving to New York in March to oversee the office there, Jacobs will continue to co-lead entertainment marketing, a division that also does brand consulting.
The group co-managed by Jacobs now has 40 employees in LA, New York, Atlanta and London, working with companies including Amazon,...

Julian Jacobs has been named the new head of UTA’s New York City office as Allan Haldeman, partner and co-head of TV Lit, returns to Los Angeles.
Jacobs, also a partner and co-head of entertainment marketing, will move to New York in March to lead the local office. UTA launched the East Coast office in 2011 to encompass the film, TV, fashion, theater, publishing, news and other local sectors, with just over 300 employees currently.
The New York base also helped push UTA into marketing and advertising after acquiring the strategic advisory firm MediaLink. UTA’s other recent corporate moves include buying U.K. literary and talent Agency Curtis Brown Group to add to its presence in Britain, snapping up data firm Mediahound, securing capital from private equity firm Eqt and adding the literary agency Fletcher & Company to its assets.
