In February, Screen Rant reported that beloved director Brett Ratner would be helming the big-screen adaptation of Rob Liefeld’s 1990’s Avengers knock-off original comic book series, Youngblood. Today we’ve got more info on Youngblood for you, including who is writing the script, what the plot is likely to focus on, and the shocking news that a major character from the Youngblood comics Won’T be making the transition to the big-screen.
We’ve also got a bit of info on another upcoming Liefeld project called Capeshooters, which is sounding a bit more interesting (to me) than Youngblood.
In a recent interview with MTV News, Youngblood creator Rob Liefeld explained that the screenwriting team of J.P. Lavin and Chad Damiani are currently half-way through a first draft of the Youngblood script. Lavin and Damiani are also currently working on adapting another Liefeld project for the big-screen: the upcoming graphic novel Capeshooters, »

According to Rob Liefeld, the same guys who are currently writing the live-action adaptation of his “Capeshooters” for Bryan Singer is also currently writing the live-action adaptation of his “Youngblood” for Brett Ratner. The guys in question are J.P. Lavin and Chad Damiani, and in an interview with MTV, the former ’90s Image Comics golden boy also talks about the visual style and plot of the “Youngblood” movie, which will chronicle the exploits of a Government-sanctioned superhero team that broadcasts all their exploits to the public, essentially making them more celebrity than hero. Via MTV: Story-wise, the veteran creator said the big-screen adaptation of “Youngblood” would focus on team members Shaft and Chapel, the bow-wielding marksman and gun-toting former soldier who lead the team. “They don’t like each other,” said Liefeld. “Shaft is the new kid on the block in the movie, and he and Chapel have to put »

Screenwriter duo, J.P. Lavin and Chad Damiani, have been hired to pen the script of "Youngblood", so revealed creator Rob Liefeld. Opening up about matters related to the comic book adaptation to Splash Page MTV, the 41-year-old laid bare that the writing pair is already "half-way through their first draft of the screenplay".
Recalling the time the two were hired to tackle the scripting, Liefeld fessed up that the two were originally eyed to pen "Capeshooters". "They were the guys everyone wanted for 'Capeshooters' at 11 Am at Warner Bros a year ago," he explained, "and then at 3 Pm, I met with Brett [Ratner] and his producing partner, and Brett says, 'I know exactly who we have to get to write this: Lavin and Damiani'."

Back in early February, the news broke that “Youngblood,” one of the flagship Image Comics series that defined the ’90s comics boom, was headed to the big screen with “X-Men: The Last Stand” director Brett Ratner attached. Created by veteran writer/artist Rob Liefeld, “Youngblood” chronicled the adventures of a government-sanctioned team of superheroes who operated in the public eye while fighting super-powered threats and dealing with superhero-sized drama.
I had the chance to catch up with the superteam’s creator recently to get an update on “Youngblood,” and to receive some news about the film’s writing team, plot and character lineup.
According to Liefeld, the “Youngblood” movie is currently being scripted by the writing duo of J.P. Lavin and Chad Damiani, who are also working on another adaptation of a Liefeld comic (the Bryan Singer-produced “Capeshooters” in development at Warner Bros). He said the pair is half-way »
