Thanks for taking the time to answer some questions for us, Jeff. How and when did you first come up with the idea for Dead West?
Jeff Ferrell: The idea for Dead West was born during the shooting of my first movie, Ghostlight. One night after filming, I was with the lead actor, Brian Sutherland, in his hotel room. We were drinking beers and throwing ideas around, when he suddenly said, “I really wanna play a serial killer. Write...

In the words of Lennon & McCartney, it's been "a long and winding road." Queensryche has maintained its status as a legendary progressive rock band over the past 30+ years, enjoying success with albums like "Operation: Mind Crime" and it's follow up, "Empire," selling more than 20 million albums worldwide. Behind their success, however, the band has been plagued by creative differences which led to the departure of lead singer Geoff Tate. Eventually, Tate and the remaining members reached what they described as "an amicable settlement" with one of the terms prohibiting Tate from further performing with his newly formed band using the name Queensryche after August 30, 2014. Before taking on the new name "Operation: Mindcrime," Tate and his band embarked on a summer tour titled "Queensryche starring Geoff Tate - The Farewell Tour" which just recently ended outside of Chicago, closing a significant musical chapter in his life. This was the last night...

Geoff Tate of Queensryche has taken his solo show on the road. In an intimate setting at a place called Viper Alley on Chicago's northwest side, the 53 year-old singer treated fans to an acoustic set of songs from his vast catalog, including some of the finest gems from Queensryche's treasure chest of hits. It was a good move. The legendary front man looked and sounded as though he was born for the gig. He opened with "Got It Bad" a track from Queensryche's 2011 album "Dedicated to Chaos." It's a song rich with sensual overtones and in all it's opulence, was the perfect way to set the stage for a memorable evening with one of rock's all-time greatest vocalists. During the equally seductive "Touch" Geoff's sultry vocals could have melted leather off the barstools - a claim he even acknowledged. "Whew. I started getting a little bit heated up on that one.

Director: Jeff Warrick When first-time director Jeff Warrick is unable to obtain comments from either of the surviving two Beatles regarding their use of backwards masking and subliminal messages, he enlists Queensryche singer Geoff Tate. (Tate being the most logical third choice after Paul McCartney and Ringo Starr?) Thankfully, Warrick also brings in Rolling Stone Senior Editor David Fricke and legendary rock and roll recording engineer and producer Andy Johns for back-up. The Judas Priest subliminal message trial from 1990 also makes an appearance, but does any of this footage convince me that hidden messages in music are able to influence human behavior? Ummm... No. Well, how about the use of subliminal messaging in cinema? Well, Warrick opts to bend the definition of "subliminal" in order to discuss Alfred Hitchcock, Francis Ford Coppola, William Friedkin and other directors who purposefully inter-cut [totally perceptible] images and/or sounds to solicit emotional responses to their films.

Programming the Nation? looks at subliminal messaging and subconscious manipulation in mass-media, pop-culture, politics. We asked writer/producer/director Jeff Warrick (founder of Ignite Productions) to tell us about his film. Geoff Tate, lead singer of Queensryche / courtesy Ignite Productions Programming the Nation? is a provocative new documentary about how our American society has allegedly been subconsciously brainwashed. It's also a modernized retelling of the biblical story of David and Goliath. In this case, 'David' is represented by me, the small, first-timer, indie-filmmaker, going up against 'Goliath,' the giant monolith of Hollywood studio, big-budget, franchise-driven, superhero releases. But in this issues-driven, social documentary, 'David' also represents You - the general, middle class, average American citizen - battling a 'Goliath' in advertisers, corporations, politicians and even our own military, for control of your mind and souls. Director Jeff Warrick / courtesy Ignite Productions Unlike other current affairs facing today's society - including the environment,...

Recently Dread Central reported on Fires at Midnight Films' announcement about the impending release of The Burningmoore Incident, in which Queensryche frontman Geoff Tate has a prominent role. So of course we had to speak to Tate about both the film and the new Queensryche record he's been working on.
The Burningmoore Incident tells of the 2005 murder of Anne Parrish and her three sons and the disappearance of their patriarch, James Parrish (Tate). As time goes on, James Parrish falls under suspicion for the murders but is never found. Flash forward five years: A construction team from Cole Contracting of New York installs multiple video cameras on their first day of what is to be a home makeover reality show. In no time the Parrish house becomes a slaughterhouse at the hands of a brutal and deranged killer. Soon police discover that they have indisputable evidence that confirms Parrish as the killer.

Jonathan Williams of Fires at Midnight Films dropped us a line today to let us know that a teaser trailer, some stills, and two clips from his upcoming found footage film The Burningmoore Incident starring Geoff Tate of Queensryche are now available, and of course we have them right here for your viewing pleasure!
Synopsis:
On the night of December 22, 2005, the screams of a child sounded out over the line of a New York 911 operator. Not knowing if the call was real or a prank, officers were dispatched to the residence on Long Island, New York, where the call originated from. Upon arrival police made a gruesome discovery… Anne Parrish and her three sons brutally murdered. Husband and father James Parrish was presumably not at home at the time.
Over the next few days several unsuccessful attempts were made to locate Mr. Parrish for questioning, and he was declared missing.

Rockers Queensryche were left fearing for their lives after they were caught up in a bomb attack while visiting troops in Iraq. The heavy metal band flew to the Middle East to play for U.S. soldiers and suffered minor injuries in an explosion near the base where they were staying.
Singer Geoff Tate tells BraveWords, "We got bombed. We had to spend a lot of hours in bunkers there, waiting for the insurgents to get under control. We all lived through it although we got injured - that was a scary situation. A mortar landed about a hundred yards from where I was standing - the ground just shook."
"It was amazingly powerful and scared the hell out of me. I'd just been standing there watching the sun come up, eating a little container of yoghurt and boom - the bomb goes off. It was pretty darn intense." But...
