Last month, Texas Congressman Joaquin Castro put out a call to the public, asking people to send ideas for music by Latin artists to submit to the Library of Congress’ National Recording Registry. It’s part of a years-long effort on Castro’s part to get more Latin art preserved within the Library of Congress and to increase Latino representation across media and pop culture.
The National Recording Registry is made up of works considered “culturally, historically, or aesthetically significant” or that “inform or reflect life in the United States.

“How does it feel every time I let you down?” sings the Marías’ mononymic frontwoman — the only actual María in the band — on “Clueless.” It’s the second single off the L.A. players’ upcoming Ep Superclean Vol. II, out September 28th.
Inspired by a spat between the vocalist and her significant other, drummer-producer Josh Conway, the smoldering tension in “Clueless” is chilled by a luxe, funk groove.
“One of the great parts about being in a band as well as a relationship,” Conway tells Rolling Stone, “is that any...

Over the weekend I had a chance to speak with director Jorge Guiterrez about his new film "The Book of Life," which is also produced by Guillermo del Toro. The look of the film is inspired by the Mexican Day of the Dead (Dia de Los Muertos) celebrations.
"The Book of Life" is the journey of Manolo (Diego Luna), a young man who is torn between fulfilling the expectations of his family and following his heart. Before choosing which path to follow, he embarks on an incredible adventure that spans three fantastical worlds where he must face his greatest fears. Rich with a fresh take on pop music favorites, "The Book of Life" encourages us to celebrate the past while looking forward to the future.
Here is what Guiterrez had to say about the film.
For me, when I first saw the film, I thought of it as elements of a video game.

During a media event before the concert, the singer spoke with HuffPost and other outlets about the pleasant surprises of this U.S. tour and his plans for after his final performance in Tampa, Fla. on June 30.
“The tour has been great, we’ve been to 20 cities, and personally I feel like I’m in the best moment of my life on stage,” Juanes told HuffPost after finishing his soundcheck and a "Meet and Greet" with dozens of fans. “Singing and playing guitar and just being on stage is something I treasure very much, a lot more than before.”

Pop superstar Shakira has broken the record for the largest audience at a public concert in Mexico City, after more than 200,000 fans flocked to watch her. The star, who recently announced she is to wed her fiance Antonio De La Rua in September, achieved her world record after performing to the huge audience in Zocalo Square on Sunday. She told the crowd, "This has been a month of absolute joy. I have fed off you, and I leave with my heart full." The previous record was held by local band Café Tacuba, who drew an audience of 170,000 fans in 2005.
