Updated with complete winners list: Despite being up for four acting category awards, The Crown‘s final season left the BAFTA TV Awards empty handed tonight in London.
Elizabeth Debicki, Lesley Manville, Salim Daw and Dominic West were all snubbed, as the the likes of Matthew Macfadyen, Jasmine Jobson, Timothy Spall and Sarah Lancashire all triumphed and the Netflix show went out quietly.
There was also a major surprise in the International category, where little-known French drama Class Act beat the likes of Beef, The Bear and The Last of Us to win the prize. Among the most shocked was the show’s star Laurent Lafitte, who urged the audience to find and watch his show — to the amusement of the audience.

Staple Of Chrisley Knows Best

Some critics would say that she became an integral part of the family. That all came crashing down when Todd and Julie Chrisley were sent to jail for bank fraud and tax evasion. Their family started falling apart over the years.
Savannah Chrisley was left alone with the kids at her house. She was granted temporary custody of her siblings while her parents served time in prison. Most of the family moved out.

The Sundance Film Festival is regarded as one of the most prestigious independent film festivals, where filmmakers have been premiering their movies and documentaries since 1984.
The festival was founded in 1978 by Sterling Van Wagenen, the head of Robert Redford’s company Wildwood, and John Earle of the Utah Film Commission under the name Utah/US Film Festival to attract more filmmakers to Utah.
Redford founded the Sundance Institute in 1981 to foster independence, risk-taking, and new voices in American film. That year, 10 emerging filmmakers were invited to the Sundance Resort in the mountains of Utah, where they worked with leading writers, directors and actors to develop their original independent projects.
By 1984, the festival had established itself and was officially renamed the Sundance Film Festival after Redford’s character in his 1969 film Butch Cassidy and the Sundance Kid. That year, the Grand Jury Prize in Dramatics was awarded to Old Enough, an...

In an election cycle that took place amid a historic strike, Fran Drescher has been reelected SAG-AFTRA president.
Meanwhile, Joely Fisher was reelected the union’s secretary-treasurer. Drescher received 23,080 votes, over competitor Maya Gilbert-Dunbar’s 5,276 votes. Fisher received 19,777 votes, while challenger Pete Antico garnered 8,361 votes. The voter turnout was 22.84 percent.
“I am honored to serve my union as president for another term,” Drescher said in a statement. “Much has been accomplished in the past two years but I feel great optimism that the next two will be our greatest ever! As we let go of tribalism and gain more empathy for one another, as we realize that with each experience comes opportunity to better ourselves on our journey of self-refinement, we will also enter a golden age for SAG-AFTRA.”
In her own statement, Fisher said, “When we’re fighting against the entire show business establishment, the last thing we needed was to fight each other.

The Chrisley family is returning to television with a brand new unscripted docuseries from Scout Productions. Following the lives of Chase, Savannah, Grayson, Chloe and “Nanny” Faye Chrisley, the series will pull back the curtain on one of the most turbulent times for the family since starring in “Chrisley Knows Best” and its multiple spinoffs.
Todd and Julie Chrisley were sentenced to 12 and seven years in prison, respectively, amid a conviction of tax evasion and bank fraud. Their prison sentences have undoubtedly shifted the Chrisley family. In their absence, 26-year-old daughter Savannah acquired custody of her younger brother Grayson and her half-brother’s daughter Chloe. The series will show how the family is doing amid these major changes in their lives.
“Collaborating with the Chrisley family, who are nothing short of reality royalty, for their much-anticipated return to TV is beyond thrilling,” said Rob Eric, Cco of Scout Productions. “They...

Nowadays a spooktacular Shocktober means 4K restorations––just look at the work from Arrow or Shout Factory (naming only the two most obvious) to elevate that most disreputable genre into incredible resolution and detail. Never one to miss an opportunity, Criterion will upgrade two of the greatest horror films ever made: David Cronenberg’s Videodrome and Nicolas Roeg’s Don’t Look Now, for those who want explosive tumors and Donald Sutherland’s penis (respectively and respectfully) in the finest possible quality home video affords.
While the Nicole Kidman-led Blockbuster Video classic The Others rounds out 4K selections, the Blu-only Tod Browning set boasts Freaks, The Unknown, and The Mystic. Lastly, Nikyatu Jusu’s 2022 Sundance winner Nanny is now among the newer titles in Criterion’s canon.

This is part of a series of frank accounts of the strike from Hollywood writers at different levels in their careers.
I guess the AMPTP forgot the first lesson privileged parents quickly learn: Do not short-change The Nanny.
Carol Lombardini did just that, and now SAG-AFTRA will strike.
First, let’s rewind: The pavement was as hard as it’s ever been. The heat, unbearable. Numbers, thinning. The loneliest place on earth, the picket line by Universal’s Main Gate — where the sidewalk literally fucking ends. Paramount was all airpods and sunburns. (Some gracious restaurant handed out lemonade. God bless them.) Even the family-friendly line at Disney felt a little like a chain gang.
Not gonna lie, we knew it would be hard. But by day 72 our souls were cracking. The distant horizon of the strike loomed long and large. But then the AMPTP fucked up. Big time.
Quite possibly...

Updated with vote count and winners’ quotes: Fran Drescher has been elected president of SAG-AFTRA and, in a split decision, her opponent’s running mate, Joely Fisher, has been elected national secretary-treasurer. Drescher defeated Matthew Modine, who was making his second bid for the presidency, but her running mate, Anthony Rapp, lost to Fisher.
In a close race, Drescher defeated Modine 16,958 votes to 15,371, while Fisher beat Rapp 18,547 to 13,593. A total of 122,154 ballots were mailed and 32,362 were returned (26.49%). Turnout this year was considerably higher than two years ago, when only 21.2% of the members voted.
Fisher, the daughter of former SAG secretary-treasurer Connie Stevens, amassed nearly 1,600 more votes than Drescher.
Drescher said in a statement Thursday night:
