More than 30 years after Reversal of Fortune, Jeremy Irons and Glenn Close are ready for their Encore.
The pair, who faced off as Claus and Sunny von Bülow in the 1990 Oscar-winning thriller are set to reteam in the upcoming best-agers comedy, from British director Simon Curtis (My Week with Marilyn, Downton Abbey: A New Era).
Close and Irons, who also co-starred in Mike Nichols’ award-winning Broadway play The Real Thing, both winning Tony Awards for their performances, last shared the screen in 1993’s The House of Spirits. In Encore, they will play two former Broadway icons, Marie and Nigel, who become residents of a retirement home. Once there, they discover a community of forgotten talents and Marie decides to put on a show, hoping to revive Nigel’s passion for theatre and help him embrace this new chapter in their lives.
Henry Winkler (Barry, Arrested Development) and Don Johnson (Knives Out) are attached to co-star.

The Curse of Oak Island Season 11 ends with the guys having one last go with the borehole drill to find a treasure vault before they wrap up for the winter.
After 24 episodes of some serious ups and downs, the guys won’t pause for even a second as they squeeze every last available second out of the season to get more clues, answers, and treasures.
This year’s main thrust was rehabilitation and excavation of the Garden Shaft; however, that project came to a crushing halt after flood water came gushing in. The Dumas miners will be working on the problem behind the scenes, but our guys are worried that an ancient flood tunnel may have been breached.
The Garden Shaft hiatus has meant that the borehole drill team has had extra work to do in and around the Baby Blob and Money Pit areas. And it seems like they...

Taylor Sheridan has proven to be a more than capable writer when it comes to writing women in fiction, with Sicario and Wind River, starring Jeremy Renner, being two major examples. However, Season 1 of Mayor of Kingstown was been heavily dominated by men, but that isn’t to say there weren’t times when female characters were given their moments to shine.
When Hugh Dillon, co-creator of the show, was asked whether we could see more female representation moving forward last year, Dillon’s answer was quite promising.

The 40-year-old, kid-friendly franchise Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles is returning to movie theaters in live action, in a project that Paramount Pictures is targeting instead for adults.
The studio is developing the bloody and intense graphic novel series “Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles: The Last Ronin” with screenwriter Tyler Burton Smith (“Boy Kills World”) and Walter Hamada’s 18hz production company through his multi-year deal. The 2020-2022 miniseries — written by original “Turtles” creators Kevin Eastman and Peter Laird, with Eastman and Tom Waltz developing the script — is set in a bleak, dystopian future in which Oroku Hiroto, the grandson of the Turtles’ arch-nemesis, Shredder, rules New York City as a totalitarian despot. Hiroto has killed all but one of the Turtles, as well as their mentor, Splinter; the remaining Turtle seeks revenge by wielding all four of their signature weapons.

It’s been a hell of a year for actor Jeremy Renner. After polishing his star with multiple Marvel films, an outstanding Disney+ series (Hawkeye), and leading Taylor Sheridan’s Mayor of Kingstown drama series, Renner’s life took a turn when he nearly died after sustaining “blunt chest trauma and orthopedic injuries” while operating a Snowcat. After taking ample time to rest and recuperate from the life-threatening incident, Renner says he’s returning to work and is ready to shoot Mayor of Kingstown Season 3.
How do we know this? Renner shared an Instagram story from his Mayor of Kingstown co-star, Emma Laird, whose story featured a photo of her and Renner together, with the caption, “It’s happening! Back to work with my favourite guy next week.” Renner then shared Laird’s story to his account, seemingly confirming his return.

Jason Momoa returned as guest host for the latest episode of "Saturday Night Live" this weekend. The actor first hosted back in December 2018 ahead of the release of "Aquaman," and now returns a few weeks before audiences can see Arthur Curry on the big screen again in "Aquaman and the Lost Kingdom."
For one of the sketches featuring Momoa, "SNL" chose to parody a different kind of story about a man and the sea: Robert Zemeckis' "Cast Away," starring Tom Hanks as everyman Chuck Noland, who spends four years stranded on a desert island after a plane crash. After he's rescued, he finds the world has moved on without him — even his girlfriend Kelly (Helen Hunt) has married someone else. Chuck and Kelly share a tender moment in the rain, but decide they can't be together again.

There are three things that are more addictive and dangerous than anything in this world. These things are money, knowledge, and power. These things, when exercised together or solely, have the power to corrupt anyone. Remember Marlowe’s play about a man named Faustus who summoned the devil? In exchange for all the knowledge and magic known to men and beyond, Faustus agreed to give him his soul after 24 years. Faustus eventually realized the blunder he had made, but it was too late. His greed for knowledge became the final nail in his coffin. Dan Brown’s latest film, Your Lucky Day, explores one such scenario where regular people choose to look the other way and conceal a crime for a decent cut of a lottery win.

Kenneth Branagh is back for this third — and by TheWrap’s account, best — appearance as Agatha Christie’s detective Hercule Poirot in “A Haunting in Venice.” He also directs the spooky mystery, which boasts a terrific lineup of murder suspects (and potential victims), including Michelle Yeoh, Tina Fey, Jamie Dornan and Kelly Reilly.
Here’s who plays which character in the film based on Christie’s 1969 novel “Hallowe’en Party” — and where you might have seen the less familiar names before.
“A Haunting in Venice” is now streaming on Disney+.
20th Century Studios.

British actor Kenneth Branagh reprises his role as the fussy Belgian detective, Hercule Poirot, whom he previously played in the recent remakes “Murder on the Orient Express” and “Death on the Nile.” The film begins in 1947 with Poirot retired from sleuthing and leading a quiet life in Venice — until he’s dragged into a new case.

Sharon Stone’s father was her singular lifeline at one point.

Murder mysteries, particularly those of the Agatha Christie variety, tend to be feasts for actors, affording them the chance to play colorful, eccentric, and often more than a little bit sleazy characters who may or may not like to dabble in homicide on the side. Such was the case with director Kenneth Branagh's first two films in his Hercule Poirot cinematic universe, "Murder on the Orient Express" and "Death on the Nile." For his third go at adapting Christie's super-sleuth for the big screen, "A Haunting in Venice," Branagh has once again surrounded himself (and his ginormous curly mustache) as Poirot with a cast that represents the cream of the crop when it comes to character actors working today.
"A Haunting in Venice" (you can read /Film's review here) adapts one of Christie's lesser-known Poirot novels, "Hallowe'en Party," in order to put something of a horror-tinged spin on your average Poirot adventure.

The Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles have endured in the pop culture consciousness for well over 30 years now, in no small part thanks to the '80s animated TV show and, perhaps more importantly, the wildly successful 1990 blockbuster live-action "Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles" film. Directed by Steve Barron, that movie was truly the point of no return. The Turtles became superstars and, arguably, for a time, the most popular superheroes in North America. But things could have been quite different if an early pitch for a film adaptation had been received more warmly.

During the conversation, Eastman recalled a pitch from none other than B-movie maestro Roger Corman in the '80s for a low-budget movie featuring Donnie, Leo, Raph, and Mikey. The craziest part?...

The Ninja Turtles are back in "Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles: Mutant Mayhem," an animated film from director Jeff Rowe and producer Seth Rogen. By every measure it's a successful reboot of the beloved property that will keep youngsters and animation enthusiasts entertained. Fans of the original comic books and animated series from the '80s might notice changes to certain aspects of the characters -- "Mutant Mayhem" is more of a character-driven comedy than an action film, with a powerful message about acceptance. I, for one, wanted a bit more ninja madness, but still walked away satisfied.
Regardless of any reservations about the picture, plenty of fun Easter eggs sprinkled throughout pay homage to previous iterations that should satisfy those needing a nostalgia kick. Some are easy to spot, while others require sharp eyes and some brain power. What's clear is that...

I am a person of an age where I have never known a world without the "Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles." Leonardo, Donatello, Raphael, and Michelangelo are now veterans of not only years of comic book storytelling, multiple beloved animated series, blockbuster films, video games, countless toys, and more, but their Renaissance-inspired names are now household ones, and their adventures have delighted multiple generations of children and adults.
In short, the Tmnt are a genuine pop culture institution, a status that’s only going to be further cemented with the release of Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles: Mutant Mayhem, a breathtakingly animated new feature film with an all-star voice cast and an authentically “teenage” attitude and sense of humor.

Had Katniss Everdeen and the “X-Men” series never gotten in the way — or, had we still lived in an era when superheroes or fantasy franchises were not seen as status symbols on the resume of a young superstar — Jennifer Lawrence would have already starred in numerous rom-coms by now, à la the Julia Roberts of the 90s. Especially after winning the Oscar for one a decade ago, with David O. Russell’s “Silver Linings Playbook.”
But better late than never says Gene Stupnitsky’s “No Hard Feelings,” a genuinely witty and somewhat clumsy romantic comedy, that feels more like an honest-to-god movie than many of the rushed and straight-to-streaming examples of the genre we’ve seen in the recent years.

No Hard Feelings, Gene Stupnitsky’s satisfyingly funny summer comedy, opens with a tow truck and a desperate woman.
The morning after a one-night stand with an Italian stranger, Maddie (Jennifer Lawrence) wakes to find her car being impounded by the county. Hard times have fallen on the Montauk local, who supplements her bartending income by driving for Uber. She owes thousands in property taxes, and it doesn’t help that her ex, Gary (Ebon Moss-Bachrach), whom she ghosted after three months of dating, is the one seizing her vehicle. His bitterness about their lack of closure means he definitely won’t do her a solid.
It’s under these terrible circumstances that Maddie finds a peculiar Craigslist advertisement. A rich couple (played by Laura Benanti and Matthew Broderick), desperate for their son (Andrew Barth Feldman) to gain confidence before college, is looking for someone to casually date him. Love,...

Producers Evan Goldberg and Seth Rogen are taking their talents for making hilarious coming-of-age comedies like "Superbad" and applying them to the animated world with this summer's "Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles: Mutant Mayhem." The team that brought you "Sausage Party" has set their sights on the heroes in a half-shell residing in New York City's sewers, but it's unclear if Donatello will wield his controversial sausage nunchucks from 1991's "Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles 2: Secret of the Ooze."
The new trailer for "Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles: Mutant Mayhem" does feature a number of homages and callbacks to the original two live-action movies from the 1990s and an Easter egg from the 1987 animated series which ran for seven seasons and spawned a successful action figure toy line (that I may have played with). Julianne Moore and Sydney Sweeney are teaming up for Apple Films’ Echo Valley. The duo will play a mother and daughter in the feature, which has a screenplay from Brad Ingelsby, the creator of HBO’s Mare of Easttown.
Michael Pearce, who won a BAFTA for Beast, will direct Echo Valley, which counts Ridley Scott as a producer.
Echo Valley centers on Kate Garrett (Moore), who is reeling from a personal tragedy and spending her days boarding and training horses at the picturesque Echo Valley Farm, located in southeast Pennsylvania. When her wayward daughter Clare (Sweeney) arrives late one night covered in someone else’s blood, the story veers into thriller territory and examines how far a mother will go to save her child.
Ingelsby, who developed the story with Michael Pruss, earned acclaim for his crime limited series Mare of Easttown, which won four Emmys and became a breakout show for HBO.

Everyone deals with emotional issues in their own way, and there's no one specific "correct" way to process life's traumatic events. For some, experiencing grief comes with severe depressive episodes, but for others, the ol' defense mechanism of laughing it off takes center stage. The fact that there's no universal guidebook to working through trauma makes the field of psychiatry a complicated one to put on screen, but Bill Lawrence's Apple TV+ series, "Shrinking," isn't afraid to try.
The series centers on a grieving therapist named Jimmy (Jason Segel) who has been neglecting his patients, his family, and himself in the wake of his wife's passing. After finally snapping mid-session and telling a client exactly what he thinks about their situation, rather than creating a space for them to come to the realization on their own terms, he begins incorporating more questionable (and unethical) approaches to better his clients' mental health.

According to Pamela Anderson, her former husband Kid Rock despised her “Borat” cameo.
The “Baywatch” alum wrote in her memoir “Love, Pamela” that following a private screening at CAA founder and former NBCUniversal vice chairman Ron Meyer’s home with Steven Spielberg in attendance, Rock (aka Robert “Bob” James Ritchie) yelled at Anderson and called her a “whore,” among other expletives.
“We were about to move in, until the premiere of ‘Borat,'” Anderson wrote of her relationship with Rock. “The screening at Ron and Kelly Meyer’s house didn’t go well. Lots of important industry people were there: Steven Spielberg, Rick Rubin, Laird Hamilton and his wife, Gabby Reece. I didn’t tell Bob I was in the movie, because I wanted to surprise him.”
She continued, “I forgot about the part in the film that referenced the ‘sextape.’ Bob stormed out, calling me a whore and worse.

Bob and I started spending more time in Detroit, his hometown. We had our big family wedding there, where Bob Seger and Hank Williams Jr. sang for us. Our life in Detroit was full of music. I took for granted all those nights with Hank, Zz Top, Uncle Kracker, Eminem, and Bob’s band. To be around such talent was inspiring. It was a true rock-and-roll lifestyle, gritty and soulful. Detroit had an energy all its own.

Netflix has landed feature rights to Seesaw Monster — a 2019 book by Kotaro Isaka, whose novel Maria Beetle was recently adapted into the David Leitch actioner Bullet Train for Sony, starring Brad Pitt.
Olivia Milch (Ocean’s Eight) will adapt the screenplay, with Oscar winner Anna Hathaway (Armageddon Time) and Oscar nominee Salma Hayek Pinault (House of Gucci) attached to star. Who will direct is not yet clear.
While Netflix is keeping plot specific under wraps, it has described the film as an action-comedy two-hander that will have Hathaway and Pinault playing rivals forced together. The few descriptions of Seesaw Monster to be found online bill it as a story moving between the Japan of the Showa era and 2050, centered on the relationship between a wife and her mysterious mother-in-law.

Over 30 years on, it's hard to overstate just how big "Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles" and the resulting Turtlemania were back in the day. One minute, everyone in the school playground was doing swapsies with Garbage Pail Kids and Panini football stickers, the next, it was all "Teenage Mutant Hero Turtles." Yes, you read that correctly; in the UK, the powers-that-be deemed the word "Ninja" too violent, so "Hero" was swapped in instead. On top of that, Michelangelo's nunchucks were replaced by a grappling hook, a baffling decision because you still had Leonardo's swords and Raphael's three-pronged Sai, both of which were arguably more deadly than two lumps of wood connected by a chain.
In the school lunchroom, the usual motley collection of "The A-Team," "Star Wars," and "He-Man" lunchboxes was quickly overtaken by shiny new Turtles ones. There were comic books, cartoons, action figures, and video games; everyone with a...

Kenneth Branagh has found the suspects for his latest Agatha Christie adaptation, A Haunting in Venice.
Branagh is back starring as detective Hercule Poirot and returns as director for what will be the third Christie mystery movie from 20th Century Studios.
This time around, Jamie Dornan, Tina Fey, Michelle Yeoh, Jude Hill and Kelly Reilly have been recruited for the all-star ensemble, with Emma Laird, Kyle Allen, Camille Cottin, Ali Khan and Riccardo Scamarico also on the call sheet.
Production is set to begin Oct. 31, Halloween Day, which is fitting since Haunting is inspired by the 1969 Christie novel, Hallowe’en Party.
That story saw the mystery set in motion when a 13-year old girl, who claimed she witnessed a murder when she was younger, is found dead in an apple-bobbing tub. The studio described the adaptation, written by Michael Green, as an “unsettling...
